Chapter 22 - The Disappearance

Alex came back to his house after a long day of work at the bookstore. As he entered, he saw Plot Armor holding Leo, gently stroking the dog's fur. Alex raised an eyebrow and said, "I didn't know you were close with him."

Plot Armor looked up with a playful smile. "Well, I was the one who created him," he said, indicating the time when he had made "The Watcher" with the help of the Antagonist.

Alex nodded, a hint of nostalgia in his eyes. "That's all in the past now," he replied, trying to dismiss the memories.

Plot Armor's expression turned serious, though he hid the truth behind his words. "Might be, but we can never know," he said cryptically.

Alex looked at Plot Armor for a moment, sensing there was more to his words, but decided not to press further. He continued with his day, and they both sat down for dinner. The meal was quiet, each lost in their own thoughts. After dinner, Alex went to his bedroom and fell asleep almost immediately, exhausted from the day's events.

As he slept, Alex was plagued by a nightmare. He saw everyone in his village dying and being tortured, their screams echoing in his mind. He woke up with a shock, his heart pounding in his chest. Anger surged through him as he realized his sleep had been ruined by the nightmare. "Damn nightmares," he muttered to himself.

Determined to prevent this from happening again, Alex used his power to make the concept of nightmares not affect him. Even though Alex could do whatever he wanted "because he can," he preferred to live a lazy life. He made it so that every time he went to sleep, he would only have good dreams.

The sun rose, casting a warm glow through the windows as Alex woke up. He prepared for his day, but as he looked around, he noticed that Leo was missing. Plot Armor was also nowhere to be found. He assumed they were outside somewhere and didn't think much of it.

Alex went outside and headed to his bookstore, ready to start another day of work. However, as he walked through the village, he noticed something strange. There were no people around. The usually bustling streets were eerily silent. "Where is everyone?" Alex wondered aloud, a sense of unease creeping into his mind.

He searched everywhere, but not a single person was found in the village. "What happened to everyone?" he exclaimed, his voice echoing through the empty streets.

Using his power, Alex tried to locate the villagers. He found them, but they were somewhere in the Fictional Vortex.

Just as he made this discovery, an evil laugh echoed around him, chilling him to the bone. "You found them, Alex," the voice said, dripping with malice.
