Chapter 8 - Chapter 8 - Goodbye

I didn't have the courage to look inside the Tent. But I could see and hear enough. The lights inside it gave off Shadows. And what I saw... it was most grotesque. So much that I almost wanted to throw up.

Maria undressed herself, they... did Things to her... things I couldn't even fathom in my childish Mind. Things that will disturb me and leave me scarred for live. And the noises I heard... they were heart breaking.

After standing there, paralyzed, for almost 2 hours, I finally went back into my Tent. But I couldn't sleep. I wouldn't sleep. I shouldn't sleep. I-

I fell asleep. It's as if someone forced me to sleep, someone that has all the Power in the World.

The next day I woke up, I didn't sleep much. I turned around and looked at Maria. I almost wanted to cry, but I know I shouldn't or they would find out that I saw them. Instead I decided to hug her and then wake her up. Her Face looks even more empty, it's like I'm the only one keeping her at least slightly sane. I don't know how to handle it.

A few Days later we arrived at the Port City. It looked marvelous, but I was too depressed to really enjoy it. Instead we hastily went over to a Ship, a colonial ship to be exact.

And the worst thing happened.

Maria wouldn't go with me. Instead she spoke to me one last time and told me how I should vanish from her sight, how she is way better off with those men. Those Men. THOSE MEN! Hatred starts sprouting from my Eyes. It's like a fiery Flame awakened inside me. But I'm too weak to do anything. I just looked at her and started crying. Her Face is completely empty and broken. And the Men didn't even try to hide it any more. They start touching her in public and Maria seems to enjoy it. What the Hell happened in those few Days where she was gone? I cry and cry.

Suddenly someone picks me up and shoves me on the Boat. I can only look at her one last time. But I swear, I will take Revenge. I will kill those Men, I will save Maria. And... I almost don't dare to say it... if she is doing all of it out of free will, she will die too!

I don't care about anything anymore. I just lie there in the ship, occasionally eating when I need to and sometimes sleeping. After almost 2 gruesome Weeks, we arrive on the new Continent. Surprisingly it doesn't matter to me anymore.

That is, at least, until I look up. I haven't noticed it, but the Vampires in the Port have killed all the Humans that arrived with me here.

I looked at the Vampire standing before me. It's a Girl, almost like a Knight. She is beautiful, has red Eyes and Red Hair. Her Armor is completely Black. But her Face is humble. She reaches out a Hand. But I don't take it, instead I start to cry endlessly. I push myself onto her and she hugs me.

"There, there. Those bad Humans are gone now." She pats my head. For the first Time it truly feels like I have a Mother. I almost start to forget the bad Memories about Maria. That's right, Maria! I can't forget her! She is my real Mother, after my Birth Mother died! I still need to save her!

I stop crying and look in her Eyes.

"What is your name?" She asks me.

"Lyara." I answer with a shaky Voice.

"So there are Vampires over there." She talks to herself.

"Ah! Forget what I just said. I will take you with me for now." She picks me up and carries me towards an Encampment. This place is full of Vampires. It's like I'm finally Home.

"So much Vampire!" I say, almost happily.

She smiles. "Yeah, much much Vampire!" She says in a childish Voice.

"What your Name?" I ask her.

"Heira. My name is Heira."

"Heyra?" I say in an accent.

She giggles. "No, no. Heira, it's pronounced like Lat- I mean differently. Like this, Heira!"

This time I get it correct. "Heira!"

She giggles. "Yes, that's correct!"

But what did she mean with Lat? It was like she wanted to talk about a Language but then quickly changed her Mind... weird.

Heira looks at the other Soldiers and they laugh, saying that she is really good with Children. They suggest taking me to the King.

And just like that, it's decided. Heira takes me to the King.

We start to fly. Weird, Maria couldn't fly with me... can it be that Heira is stronger?

I look around, but the only Thing I see is darkness. The Nature is dark, the Sky is dark, even the Sun is dark. The only thing that isn't dark is our own Bodies. But although the whole Continent seems to be in this darkness, it look rather beautiful. Almost like it's perfect for us.

After a while we arrive at the Kings Palace.
