It was after she was done taking a shower and standing in front of the foggy mirror that River noticed something different. What previously were 3 toothbrushes now were two. The red one was gone, and it belonged to Ylle. The girls did move in with her but not completely. Some days they'd sleep there, and some they wouldn't. But they left most of the necessary stuff at her place, toothbrushes for example and some clothes. But now one was gone. It puzzled her.
She went straight to the closet and yes, Ylle's t-shirts and baggy pants were gone too.
"Did she leave?", she asked, unconsciously louder,
"She did.", Freya answered as she walked into the room.
"Why?",
Freya placed her expensive bag in the closet and sat on the stool next to the dressing table. She'd had a very exhausting day. One could tell from her face.
"We had a fight.", she aided her with the information.
"What fight? You guys love each other.", River found it hard to believe.
"Her dad got sacked.",
"And you had a fight because?",
"Her dad asked her to postpone going to college because he can now only take care of her little brother and mommy.",
"Okay, and?",
"You know Ylle. Academically smart, street dummy.",
"Don't tell me you said that to her.",
"No, I can never.",
River heaved a sigh of relief. Freya was a blabbermouth, but never reckless, "So what happened really?",
"She wanted me to ask my dad to pay for her fees just for this semester. But you know I can't do that right now. She then kept going about us being billionaires and that I should just help her because I can.",
"Technically you can, but that's after getting all the access codes to your bank accounts from Tina.",
"Aka it's going to be a while. So, I told her that but the bitch called me fake and a showoff and that when it comes to helping my friends I bail on them. I mean, am I really that kind of friend? Should I feel bad that my family has money? Should I feel guilty?",
"No, you shouldn't.", she stated, "But there's something else we can do for her, all 7 of us.",
"Well, spread the idea on the table.",
…
Ilham arrived at the office earlier than usual. She was in immense thrill and impatience. Her secretary, a man going by the name Gregg, was already waiting for her in her office, standing in his usual corner, just counting the minutes.
"How did it go?", asked Ilham as she sat,
"She took the bait.", Gregg confirmed.
Ilham chuckled scoffily as she shook her head. Nothing put her in a great mood than seeing her plan working without a scratch. "So predictable.", she said, "Send her an email. Tell her to come here for an interview this evening.",
"Right away, Miss Herman.",
Gregg excused himself and Ilham was left wondering how to play that game since all arrows pointed in her favor. River had pushed her to her limit of understanding. It was now her turn to show her how evil she can be.
