Jake
I stepped out of the bathroom, the steam swirling behind me as I dried my hair. Chloe was still in the shower, humming to herself, completely unaware of the storm brewing in my mind. I didn't have a good feeling about her from the start, but last night, and just now, she totally blew my mind. That girl is insanely crazy in bed. She made me forget all about Laura for a minute there. But now, I was beginning to regret every second of it.
There was something about that girl that seems off, I just can't place it for now. Maybe I'd just keep around for a while. She wants sex, I want a break from Laura… and the sex too anyway...
As I dressed, I heard her phone buzz from the bedside table. Once. Twice. I ignored it at first. Her phone was none of my business. But when it buzzed a third time, curiosity got the better of me. Who the hell was calling this early in the morning? I walked over to it, glancing down at the screen.
A name flashed on the screen.
"Husband."
My blood ran cold. Husband? I stared at the word for a moment, trying to make sense of it. She had never mentioned a husband. Not once. We've only seen each other twice but that's enough time to tell if you're married or not. I never even thought of it. Chloe was too much of a flirt to be married. I'd thought she was taking her time to really explore. The phone stopped buzzing, and I thought that was the end of it. But then, as the call ended, a photo appeared on the screen, Chloe and a man. But not just any man.
It was him. My rival. The man I'd been fighting for years to beat in business. The same man who'd sabotaged more of my deals than I could count.
For a second, I just stood there, frozen. My mind couldn't wrap itself around the idea that Chloe was married to him. It was too much of a coincidence. Too perfect, too convenient.
Then I heard the water shut off.
Chloe stepped out of the bathroom, stark naked and twisting her curves as she approached me. I turned my back and she giggled.
"Want another round?" She asked, licking her lips while she spanked my butt.
My face immediately switched. I was mad with fury. I turned to face her and shoved the phone in her face hard.
"Who the hell are you and what do you want from me?" "Are you f*cking married?" I yelled at her. Hard. The sound echoed in the room, and Chloe stopped in her tracks, her eyes widening in shock. She glanced down at the phone and saw her husband's name still on the screen.
She looked back at me, her face paling as realization set in.
"Chloe," I said, my voice low and dangerous. "You didn't mention you were married."
She blinked, and then quickly grabbed my towel from the bed, her hands clutching it tightly around her chest.
"Jake, I can explain!" She said, trying to reach me but I pushed her hand off angrily. I didn't understand the logic behind thinking I could possibly allow her touch me right now.
"You can explain why you're married to him? You're married to him?" I pointed at the phone, my hand shaking with anger.
"You never thought to mention that?"
Chloe swallowed hard, stepping toward me again. "Jake, it's not what you think. We're getting a divorce. I don't love him anymore, I want to be with you."
I stared at her, trying to process what she was saying. Divorce? Did I look like a fool? My mind was spinning, trying to figure out if this was some kind of setup. If she and her husband were playing me from the start. It wouldn't be the first time someone had tried to take me down like this. Women had been used against me before by rivals, by competitors. But I never thought I'd let myself get caught in it again.
"You want to be with me? That's like the weakest argument I've heard in a while. That's all you could come up with?" I asked, my voice dripping with sarcasm. "So, what? You're just using me to get back at your husband?"
Her eyes filled with panic. "No! It's not like that…"
"I don't believe you." I stepped toward her, my jaw clenched. "And I don't sleep with married women. Especially not the wife of my rival." The word came out like venom.
Chloe reached out, her hands trembling as she tried to touch me. "Jake, please. You have to believe me. I'm done with him, I swear… I never even knew you guys are rivals. I only found out when I looked into you after our first time. Trust me, I felt bad but I just couldn't let you go. You're so f*cling good in satisfying me. You make me come really hard and the way you f*ck me? Rough? Intense? Hard… how could I let you go then?" She let out and then slowly started moving closer to me. She slowly released the towel and seeing those perky boobs, my body was starting to betray me again.
I could feel my blood rushing in between my legs, but it stopped once I remembered what I was dealing with.
"Don't touch me." I pushed her hand away, disgusted by the thought of her ever being near me again. "If this is some kind of setup, if you and your husband are playing me, I will ruin both of you."
Her face crumpled as she realized how serious I was. She shook her head frantically. "No, Jake, I swear, it's not.."
"Get out." My voice was cold, final. I had no more patience for her lies.
Chloe's eyes filled with tears as she backed away, her hands pulling the towel around her body again. "Please, Jake…"
I didn't even wait for her to finish, I grabbed her hand and pulled her along with me while I rushed downstairs.
"You're hurting me, Jake! Stop, don't send me away, I love you!" She screamed but I didn't stop till I had pushed her out the door.
I turned and stormed into the bedroom, grabbing her clothes off the floor and then rushed back downstairs, I tossed them at her, not caring that she was still half-naked.
"Put your clothes on and leave my premises. If I ever see you here, I will do things to you that you would never recover from. And it's not what your dirty whore mind thinks. I'm talking about dangerous things, things that could make you suddenly disappear without a trace." I threatened while her lips quivered as she fumbled with her things, trying to gather her scattered belongings while still holding the towel. I didn't care. I was done with her. I had no interest in her explanations, in her tears. All I cared about now was protecting myself from whatever trap she and her husband had laid for me.
She looked up at me one last time, desperation in her eyes. "Jake, please…"
"Leave," I said, my voice like ice.
Without another word, she started leaving while I watched till she was out of sight.
The moment she was gone, I entered and locked the door behind me. I wasn't taking any chances. I didn't know what game she was playing, but I wasn't about to let her, or anyone destroy me.
As soon as I got back upstairs in the room, I grabbed my phone and dialed my lawyer.
"Richard," I said as soon as he picked up, "we have a problem. I need you to get on this immediately."
I quickly explained the situation, how Chloe had kept her marriage hidden from me, how she was married to my biggest rival, and how I suspected it could be a setup.
Richard was silent for a moment before responding. "I'll take care of it, Jake. We'll make sure this doesn't come back to bite you."
I nodded, even though he couldn't see me. "Good. I need you to handle it. And make sure we're protected on all fronts."
"I will," Richard assured me. "I'll be in touch with more details soon."
I hung up the phone, but I wasn't done yet. I needed more than just legal protection. I needed answers. I dialed another number, one that I hadn't used in a while but knew I could rely on.
"Rob," I said when my private investigator picked up. "I need you to do something for me. I need you to hack into a phone."
"Whose phone?" Rob asked, his voice cautious.
"A girl I just met. She just left my place but I suspect she might be after me. We fucked a few times before I discovered she is married to one of my rivals. A big and dangerous one." I replied, the anger still simmering beneath my calm tone.
"I want every call, every text, every piece of information wiped clean. Make sure there's no trace of anything that could come back to me. And find out what the hell she and her husband have been up to."
"You got it, Jake," Rob said, his voice steady. "I'll get right on it."
I ended the call, feeling a slight sense of relief. I wasn't out of the woods yet, but at least I was taking control of the situation. I wouldn't let anyone, least of all Chloe, bring me down.
As I sat down on the edge of the bed, my mind finally began to clear. But one thought lingered, nagging at me.
Laura.
Even in the middle of all this, I couldn't stop thinking about her. What would she think if she knew about Chloe? About the mess I'd just gotten myself into?
I shook my head. I didn't have time to think about Laura right now. I had bigger problems to deal with…
