Chapter 20 - UPGRADED

" where are we going?" Landon asked, looking at Rachel as she drove.

"We're meeting Mr. M," Rachel replied. "He'll supply the things you asked for. He's an old friend."

Their car pulled up in front of an old bar,. As they stepped out, Evelyn asked, "Are you sure this is the place, Rachel?"

"According to our information, it is," Rachel confirmed.

"Call Mr. M," Evelyn instructed, Landon moved forward.

"Landon, wait!" Evelyn cautioned.

Ignoring her warning, Landon pushed open the door. A gold-polished bell above it rang out, announcing their arrival. Following Landon, Rachel and Evelyn entered the bar, leaving the bright sunlight behind.

The dimly lit room was sparsely populated, with only a handful of patrons scattered across the space. The old wooden benches and chairs seemed to exude a sense of loneliness, their worn surfaces bearing testament to countless stories and forgotten conversations.

Behind the bar stood a towering figure, his imposing physique evident even under the fitted bartender's uniform. His bald head gleamed in the faint light, and his muscles rippled as he polished a glass with a white cloth, his movements efficient and deliberate.

As Landon, Rachel, and Evelyn entered, the bartender's gaze flicked towards them, his eyes narrowing slightly as he took in the newcomers. His expression remained neutral, but his posture hinted at a quiet confidence, a sense of authority that commanded attention.

As they approached the bartender's table, the bartender looked up and said, "It's been a while since we've seen old faces here." He polished glasses, his gaze lingering on Rachel. "It's been a while, Mr. M. I assume you've got our package."

Mr. M's eyes narrowed. "Who are they?" he asked, his gaze shifting to Landon and Evelyn.

"Co-workers," Rachel replied, her eyes locked intensely on Mr. M.

"Your order?" Mr. M asked.

"The Devil's Hand," Rachel replied.

Mr. M rang a bell, and the customers swiftly departed, leaving Landon and Evelyn bewildered.

"Follow me," Mr. M instructed, leading them toward a door.

The door revealed a wine cellar stocked with various types of wines. As they reached the room's end, an elevator awaited. The doors slid open, and they stepped inside.

Descending, intense pressure built, causing Evelyn to stumble. Landon swiftly caught her, his face inches from hers.

"Are you okay?" Landon asked, concern etched on his face.

Evelyn locked gazes with him, mesmerized. Reality snapped back into focus, and she replied, "Yeah, I'm okay."

Landon quickly released her, aware of the awkward intimacy.

Rachel's grin broadened as she witnessed the moment.

The elevator doors slid open, revealing a spacious, heavily fortified room. Racks of rifles lined the walls, secured behind metal cages. Landon, Evelyn, and Rachel exchanged astonished glances.

Mr. M led them to a polished wooden table, where multiple small, unassuming wooden suitcases awaited.

Mr. M led them to a polished wooden table, where multiple small, unassuming wooden suitcases awaited.

"With pleasure," Mr. M said, opening each case to reveal an impressive array of handguns.

"Behold, my finest collection," Mr. M announced, gesturing to the display.

Landon's eyes widened as he scanned the arsenal. "Each model boasts advanced materials, proprietary technology, and unparalleled precision," Mr. M explained, handing Landon the Kronecker 9X.

"This one's a semi-automatic handgun with reduced weight and recoil," Mr. M said.

Landon's gaze shifted to a sleek, black pistol catching his eye - the "SP-G9."

"And this one?" Landon asked, picking up the SP-G9.

"Ah, the SP-G9," Mr. M replied. "Increased range, reduced recoil. Military-grade. One of our most sought-after models."

"I'll take this one," Landon said, his decision firm.

Mr. M nodded. "Very well. The SP-G9 it is, then."

"Ms. Evelyn, you have a business meeting with MJ Group. We must leave," Rachel reminded Evelyn.

"I'll be leaving then," Evelyn confirmed.

"Landon, return to HQ after this, okay?" Rachel instructed.

Landon nodded. "Will do."

As they prepared to depart, Landon turned to Mr. M. "What about the other thing I asked for?"

Mr. M smiled. "Follow me."

He led Landon to an evacuated area, where a sleek, black luxury car awaited.

"Fully bulletproof, shielded, and sniper-proof," Mr. M assured. "I've made the adjustments you requested."

Landon's eyes scanned the vehicle's sleek design. "Good, that'll be all."

Landon extended his hand, and Mr. M shook it firmly.

"Pleasure doing business with you, Landon," Mr. M said with a hint of respect.

As Landon drove away in the luxurious vehicle, Mr. M's expression turned contemplative.

"He's just like you, Kenji," Mr. M whispered, concern etched on his face. "Don't get yourself into big trouble, Landon."

The scene faded to black as the sound of the car's engine disappeared into the distance.
