Landon sipped his coffee, savoring the moment. As Evelyn's new bodyguard, he had been shadowing her nonstop, ensuring her safety during the J&B Expo's product launch preparations. Compared to his previous grueling multiple shifts, this assignment was a welcome change. Landon's debt had weighed heavily on him, but Evelyn's deal had transformed his life.
In the cafeteria, Landon drew attention from female workers, who whispered and glanced at him. "Have you seen him before?" someone asked. "Is he a model?" another woman whispered.
Landon's earpiece crackled. "Landon, Ms. Evelyn's leaving for a meeting. Prepare the car." He finished his coffee and rushed out.
They arrived at an upscale coffee shop, vacant except for Mr. Klaus, his secretary, and a few staff members. The space had been rented for their meeting.
"Ms. Evelyn, it's a pleasure meeting you," Mr. Klaus said, shaking her hand.
As they settled into their seats, Evelyn replied, "Thank you for agreeing to meet with me, Mr. Klaus."
Klaus's gaze shifted to Landon. "I see you've hired a new secretary."
Evelyn corrected him, "No, it's my bodyguard."
Klaus's expression turned sympathetic. "Oh, I shouldn't be surprised, after everything you've been through. I was devastated when I heard the news."
Landon observed everything closely, his eyes scanning the room for potential threats.
Evelyn turned to the matter at hand. "As you know, J&B will be expecting media support from Blo Mainstream Media, just as before."
Klaus nodded. "Of course, we'll offer every support we can."
The meeting continued, with both parties discussing details and expectations. Then, Klaus dropped a bombshell.
"I heard Mr. Choi offered a marriage proposal with his son. Are you considering the offer?" Klaus asked, his eyes locked onto Evelyn's.
For a fleeting moment, Evelyn's poise wavered, catching Landon's attention.
"No, I haven't made a decision yet," Evelyn replied, her tone measured and deliberate. "But there'll be a wedding soon."
"Of course. That'll be...enlightening. I look forward to the things we planned."
Evelyn's smile was polite, but Landon detected a hint of tension. "As do I, Mr. Klaus."
The meeting concluded, and Klaus stood, extending his hand. Evelyn shook it, her grip firm.
As they left, Klaus's face darkened.
"Call Jacob."
