Chapter 4 - Chapter 3

They both looked surprised to see me, especially Mona. Jeff, however, just smiled at me.

"Mona, I want another piece of apple~" Mona handed him another piece, and he ate it from her hand, even licking her fingers on purpose. Mona didn't pull her hand away.

I couldn't take it anymore. I rushed forward and hit Jeff. Strangely, he didn't fight back. Mona stepped in.

"Alan, what are you doing? Jeff is sick. How could you do this?"

Seeing her protect another man in front of me, I felt blood rushing to my head, and my vision became blurry. I don't remember what happened after that. I just went home, thinking it was all a dream.

For some reason, I went home again, and the next time I woke up, it was to the sound of my phone ringing.

"Hello! Who is this?"

"Hey, Alan, it's me, Sam. Did you have a fight with Mona? She just made it official with Jeff on social media. "

Sam's words snapped me awake. I quickly opened Twitter and searched through Mona's Moments, but it seemed she had deleted me.

My hazy brain suddenly remembered what happened yesterday. That's right, Mona and I broke up!

I had thought yesterday's events were just a dream, a ridiculous April Fool's joke.

Sam's voice was still in my ear.

"Hey, Alan, what's wrong? I think she's just trying to provoke you. Did you do something to upset her? You should apologize quickly. HeyAlan, are you still listening?"

"Sam, Mona and I broke up!"

"What? You broke up. Did she say that? She must be joking, right? There's no way you two could break up. If you did, then there's no hope for any couple in the world!"

Yeah, I used to think we were the happiest couple in the world. I never imagined we'd break up one day.

I still remember the first time we met, when my family first moved into this neighborhood.

Since I was young, I didn't talk much and was often bullied by other kids. I had gotten used to it, so when they bullied me again, I just waited for it to end because I wanted to eat an ice pop.

That's when Mona appeared. She was small and not strong, but very brave. The other kids were much bigger and stronger than her, but she wasn't afraid at all. She just stood in front of me like a hero.

It's a simple and cliché story of a hero saving the day, but that's when I fell for that hero who stood so proudly in front of me. Later, I found out our families were neighbors, living right across the hall from each other. Since then, she was always around. She was younger than me but acted like a big sister in everything. She was the big sister, and I was her most loyal advisor. From that point on, no one dared to bully me again.

Because the big sister always had her little brother's back.
