Her grandmother had committed the mistake of imprisoning Seraphina where she would have boundless access to the dungeon to train, and to the sacred library that contained the most dangerous spells and magic records of all clan's history, plus countless stolen grimores from Green and Light Covens.
Worse, she underestimated her granddaughter.
Thanks to the ancient books she found there, she was able to master many dark and green spells such as those that allowed her to make use of time, space, cosmic energy, illusion, spiritual energy, crystals, animal language, mental energy, all eight primary elements, healing, summoning, and foresight.
However, to have balance, it had limitations.
The time magic spells she learned were only to be used to freeze time around her. And while the space magic spells abled her to open portals to other places, she could only go to places she has been before which was a pain in the ass, but she could used it to open "bags" in space to store things she couldn't be seen with.
Cosmic magic allows one to read the skies and to read the birth of people, so she can tell meow about them, which is complicated given that she only knows her family and has never seen the sky before. Illusion allows her to create... illusions, such as an illusion of how the night sky is, which she avoided doing it because it only made her want her freedom even more.
Spiritual magic allowed her to sense and see spirits, and talk to them if she uses the right spell for it, which helps her not feel so alone, as the Coven's underground is filled with spirits that absolutely hate what her family does to her. Crystals can absorb and storage magic, which allows her to make amulets and artifacts such as with protection or healing magic, or even an attack kind of power such as storing fire magic in a ring of moonstone, and they are also necessary for complicated spells to be complete as they canalize natural magic too.
Mental magic allows her to use both telepathy and telekinesis, and to protect herself from it too, and it's a power that was long lost from her mother's bloodline, within which she was born with. Animal magic allows her to comunicate with all animals, and have an affinity with them, no matter what it is, which is characteristic of her father's bloodline. The eight primary magical elements are fire, water, air, earth, lightning, ice, sound, and metal.
Summoning allows her to summon any weapon, animal or spirit she has bonded with. Healing is self-explanatory, and it's one of her strongest powers she inherited from her father, and a magic that all warlocks from his bloodline have displayed. Blood magic, characteristic of the Nightbloom Coven, mostly used for the making of curses. Plant magic, characteristic of Keizer Coven, allowing her not only to manipulate plants but to make use of poisons.
Also having the magic of shadow magic which is characteristic of all witches in the Nightbloom bloodline, and allows her to not only hear and control people's shadows, but to walk through them.
Lastly, the foresight, which is the one she has the least control over, and the most volatile, which allow her to see glimpses of the past, present, and future, though it's never very clear the time of the visions.
With all that, her family is only aware of her shadow, healing, crystal, and her use of ice and water elemental magic. The rest she managed to keep it to herself. But just that much was enough to make them hate her even more, it showed that she had magic abilities from both her bloodlines even though she is a witch. As there was never a witch with the magic of a Coven of warlocks, it only happens if it's a mixed Coven as the case of the Koninck Coven of Light.
Despite all that, Seraphina manage to put up with her family's shit for almost 21 years. For the first 18, she lost all love in herself and lived with a miserable vision of herself, but after hearing again and again that she would never be enough for them and would never be recognized or looked at with pride, something snapped on her. She didn't stopped expecting anything from them, and began looking at herself differently.
Began to create a plan to escape. But for that, she needed courage to break from her family's bonds and free herself. That was the hard part.
She needed one more reason, one more thing to snap once and for all, and it all happened about a month before her 21st birthday. Sera was working on some potions in the middle of the night, when she had a vision that her grandmother would come to kill her the night before her birthday.
Probably because when a magic being such as a witch turns 21, they cross the spiritual portal of either longevity or Immortality, and it's not just hard to kill them afterwards, as it's impossible to get rid of their powers and of the threat they might become. It's also the age where the true potential of their powers is unlocked and their love thread aligns with their mates, creating a bond that transcends common understanding and also doubles the powers of the people involved.
When you reach 21, your brain is fully evolved and legends say it's the best age for you to start making choices.
On women, from their 21st birthday and on, their fertility quotient grows thrice bigger than normal. Which is why they say you should only have children after 21, because your are more adept to it. It heightens the sexual appetite of both females and males too, especially those sexually deprived, making them go through a frenzy of hunger.
When Sera read about all of that when she was 16, she knew something bad could happen when she turned 21, but she never expected that they'd try to kill her. Kill her for real. They tried to kill her countless times, but they stopped when she turned 15, and now her grandmother would go for her throat like never before.
It got her panicking, on high alert, especially because the vision was more clear than all the others she had until now.
