["Mate, Chione is in love with you? What the hell? I thought she wanted to murder you,"] Kento cried in horrified shock. ["These three have been playing us for years? All the rivalry we took side and helped reinforce... it was all a bloody lie? It was all a script, and from Cleo and Chian at that?"]
I always knew there was something off about her, but I had no idea it was because she hadn't been herself in any moment in the last twelve years. TWELVE years faking to be what Cleo actually was. And what did she talk about grades? Was she the responsible for getting Cleo on the top 1?
Who the hell is even the girl I've been dating for nearly three years?
And to our dismay, Chione... or Tara, burst out laughing as if what Cleo said was funny instead of triggering. "Ah, how funny, it's been a while since I laughed this much. You really have no idea, do you, Cleopatra? None of you do, do you?" She purred in that vicious tone I'm so familiar with. "No, you do not. Seems like being dumb runs in your bloodline, you really are like the Queen, our mother, aren't you, Cleopatra? Even Chititi has more functional brain cells than you, no wonder I got so many bad grades in the assignments you made for me, while I made yours. You know, I hope you all die in here to the high demons, just like my father did."
["Her what?"] I froze.
["Her father was the person who fought the high demon?"] Kento gasped in horror.
"You father was a human, he couldn't have fought a high demon, you dumb bitch. You made that shit up, confess," Cleo screamed at her, unreasonably.
But Chione/Tara kept her cool, "Your mother was drunk and assumed she was fucking a human, but that's her fault, not mine."
"But you said," Chian began, but she stopped him.
"I never said my father was human, I simply allowed your foolish mind to believe what you wanted to. Just like I've been faking to be the Chione of the academy for you, just to thank your family for taking me off the streets and sheltering me, when I most needed. But haven't it occurred to you that I've been faking being the me you think you know? Or are you both as dumb as I think you are?" She laughed as if she had lost it. "You truly think I would trust blindly in a woman who abandoned me for my dad to raise me alone, five days after giving birth to me, and only got to me 9 years later, after I learned to survive alone, and solely to use me for her daughter's gain?"
"What?" They both screamed at her.
"So, you really are dumb. Thankfully I took my intelligence from my father, or I would've been doomed if I came out as mentally defective as you, and," we heard a slap, a loud and clean one, hard.
"How dare you disrespect your Crowned Princess like this, you low born hybrid bastard whore," Cleo hissed.
A long silence reigned the hall, and our anxiety rose.
"Do I need to say it in Greek, or do I need to draw it to you? I'm not under your Court, your parents are not my King and my Queen, and you two are not my Crowned Princess and my 2nd Prince. You are barely my lowly half-siblings and she's barely my mother. Barely because I mean it solely as blood relations, anything else it's inexistent, and I couldn't give sixty-nine fucks about it. As soon as this mess is undone and you take over, and act as if I was an impostor who stole your place, I'm out of here, I have better things to do that let you humiliate me just because your sadistic arse loves the sound of it."
"You won't be able to run from us," Chian yelled at her.
"I've been running my entire life from far worse than you, compared to my problems, you are ants, insignificant, and I couldn't give more fucks about you, your mother, your friends, family, boyfriends, or about your Court. Though if you all burned to ashes I would be very overjoyed," she purred.
["That definitely sounds like the Chione we know,"] Kento scoffed, looking nauseous. ["I mean, the Tara. Ugh, this will be so weird."]
"You couldn't give a fuck about my boyfriend?" Cleo giggled viciously. "We both know that is not true, Tara. My magic doesn't fail, you've been in love with my boyfriend for more than three years. At first, I thought that if I made him mine and wrapped him around my finger, making him fall for me, you would stop liking him after a while, like it happened with my nine exes. But you really do love my boyfriend, don't you? How disgusting of you, craving something that's mine."
I felt Kento's eyes on me, but I kept dead silent.
"I don't love him," she hissed defensively.
"We've seen how you look at him when he's not looking, Tara," Chian mocked. "And what you feel for him is not just a crush. It's like you're obsessed with taking something from Cleo, that's hers."
A bitter laugh left her, "You speak as if he was an object."
"He is, sort of," Cleo scoffed. "You know, Tara, he loves me so much, that he worships me. He's so good to me in everything, and he would kill you of I told him something about you hurting me. He wouldn't think twice, because that's what devotion is, and he's devoted to me like no idea. It feels pretty damn good. It makes me feel like a goddess, and that feels perfect."
"You are using him, Cleopatra. You don't love Micah!"
My heart stopped when she called me by my name. She never, since we met, called me by my name, she only calls me by my last name. It caught me so off guard, I even stopped breathing.
"Love?" Cleo laughed as if the idea of it was absolutely stupid to her.
