Bella felt so nervous as she thought of what exactly Jack was up to. Her heart skipped faster as she opened the door of the office.
"Good morning". She greeted in a low voice.
Jack had a little smile on his face on seeing Bella.
"Are you going to keep standing or you would like to have a seat". He motioned to her as he pointed towards the direction of the chair.
Bella heart paced faster as Jack was yet to disclose the need of the meeting. She wanted to ask him what the interview was, lots of thoughts running through her mind but she wasn't bold enough to ask all those.
"You don't have to be worried, the interview starts by nine so relax your mind". Jack said when he noticed the tension on her face.
Jack finally disclosed the purpose of the meeting after many minutes of Bella waiting.
"I was looking forward to employing a new secretary and I don't know if you would be able to take up that task".
*Could he be out of his mind*. Bella thought as she wondered why he had asked her to become his secretary or he was looking for a way to achieve one of his crafty schemes.
"That would not be possible".
"Why?". Jack asked with a wide smile on his face.
"Am already occupied". Bella said.
"But you do not have anything you are doing".
"I have something I am doing and am not yet ready to carry out such a dutiful task". She said, rolling her eyes.
"You can't reject the offer just like that, I applied for the post of the secretary on your behalf and am looking forward to having great expectations from you". Jack said with his chin held high.
"You applied for me but I did not accept the application. I am rejecting it and you don't have any right over that". Bella yelled at him with her heart pondering fast.
"I had always expected this from you and I do not see it as a disappointment. But …..". He suddenly kept quiet as he stared at Bella causing shivers to run down her spine.
"But, finish up what would happen". Bella said hurriedly.
"You cannot reject the offer, I had already asked the other secretary to resign as I already have a new secretary, making it best for you to resume as soon as she leaves". He said with a beaming smile on his face.
"What the heck is wrong with you, you dropped your secretary when you were not sure if I was going to accept the offer". Bella exclaimed immediately as Jack ended his statement.
"Definitely, and I do not regret doing so. It's best you accept the offer and stop bringing yourself so low". Jack said.
"Am not accepting the offer, get lost". Bella said as she stood up angrily.
"You don't have to be so hard on yourself". Jack whispered into Bella's ear as he pulled her closer to himself by the waist.
"Am not been hard on myself". Bella said as she struggled to free herself from his grip but he only tightened his grip and pulled her closer to himself more.
"Get your hands off me Jack". Bella yelled at him but it was of no point as he was not letting her go.
"I would let you go only on one condition". He said as he turned her to face towards him.
"What condition?". Bella asked with her heart pondering faster. She wondered if he was only doing this to make her agree into becoming his secretary.
"Promise never to let go of me and be my secretary". He said as he stared into her eyes.
Bella's eyes widened on hearing Jack's condition, she was expecting him to definitely tell her to be his secretary but the other was so unexpected.
"Why does he keep on tormenting me, why does he not want to let me go". Bella thought within her as she rolled her eyes.
"Ehn, …". She stammered a bit and immediately decided not to give him a reply.
"Go on, don't keep shut". Jack said.
"I don't have any answer to give". She said quickly without any hesitation as she struggled to catch her breath".
"That's definitely a yes, right?". Jack asked as he lifted Bella's head.
Bella was so quiet that she tried to avoid her eyes from having contact with him.
"I guess you just need some time to figure it out". Jack said as he released his grip on her waist.
Bella stood transfixed thinking of what he had in mind. She knew he was surely going to devise a means to make her agree to his demand.
Bella stretched on the setting of another day, she still couldn't stop thinking about Jack. The harder she tried to avoid him, the stronger her feelings grew for him. She quickly picked up her phone immediately as it rang.
"OMG, what does he want from me at this early hour". She snapped on seeing it was Jack calling. She deliberately ignored the call but was forced to answer it after she felt Jack had chosen not to stop calling.
"Why did you keep your phone all this? Why were you so unable to pick up your calls?". Jack said immediately as she picked the call.
"I was asleep". Bella shrugged with a sigh.
"I can't believe you are still asleep at this time". Jack said but Bella ignored him.
"So are you going to tell me why you called or waste me time here because I am getting impatient already".
"You are to resume today and I do not want to hear any excuses. I am coming to pick you up so get ready". Jack as he immediately hung up the call.
Bella was so confused on why he wants to come pick her up and has taken a decision for her which she had not made.
