Moe Moe and Midnight were both Coonhound mix breeds. Our first encounter with Moe Moe occurred when she approached us outdoors, revealing her striking merle coat. Initially, my mother was hesitant to allow her to stay, but the dog remained with us throughout the day, showing no intention of leaving. The following day, after a disagreement with my mother, my sister Rosa left home, and the dog instinctively followed her. The loyal canine safeguarded Rosa from traffic and strangers. When the police returned Rosa home, they recounted how the dog refused to be left behind and insisted on accompanying them in the vehicle. This demonstration of loyalty and protection led my mother to consent to keeping the dog. Naming her proved a challenge initially, but during that evening, I playfully pretended to converse with Moe from the Three Stooges. Gradually, the name Moe took hold, evolving into Moe Moe. Notably, she was one of thirteen beloved dogs that we named after movie characters. Whenever we shared her name with others, they frequently inquired, "Like the guy from the Three Stooges?" Several weeks later, another dog, remarkably resembling Moe Moe, albeit entirely black, approached us while Rosa and I were outside. We decided to welcome her into our home, dubbing her Midnight. On one amusing occasion, Moe Moe and Midnight cornered our cat, Peanut, in the kitchen. With a single swipe, Peanut sent them fleeing, resulting in Moe Moe colliding with the television and Midnight with the coffee table. Their presence brought joy and laughter to our home. As my mother's kidney treatment commenced, discussions arose concerning the feasibility of keeping the dogs. Understanding the bond I had formed with Moe Moe and Midnight, my mother considered allowing me to keep them. However, one day, the dogs unexpectedly ran away, and I was unable to locate them. Although saddened by their departure, I took solace in believing they found a loving home. I miss them dearly and cherish the memories we shared.
