Chapter 15 - Chapter 15

JACK'S POV

I lost it!!!!!!!!! I sped up to where they were and threw a strong punch at Matthew's face. "Huhhh." Emily shivered in fear.

I was still shaking with my knuckles already carrying his blood on it. Everyone gathered around after seeing what happened.

"What was that for Jack?" Dad asked as he helped Matthew to his feet. His lips was covered with blood and was torn.

"How dare you hold my wife on the waist!!!!" I yelled angrily.

"That was too extreme Jack." Mom said while carrying Ashley.

"I'm so disappointed in you Jack." Emily said as she took Matthew to clean his wound. It was as if I was alone. No one was on my side but on his side. I dragged myself to my car and drove off to cool off from my anger.

EMILY'S POV

Jack's action irritated me after what he did."I'm so sorry dear. He acted out of his mind." I apologized while cleaning his torn lips.

"It's fine Emily. He acted like that because he's your husband and he's also protecting you." Matthew said. I pitied him as he spoke.

We returned back to the rest of the family where we had the picnic. I felt really bad for Matthew and guilty for what Jack did to him.

The sound of a car speeding disrupted us from what we were doing. It was Jack's car. He alighted from the car, still looking angry. I looked away as he slowly walked to where I stood with Matthew.

"Can we talk?" He asked me. I followed him to the other side.

"You can talk." I told him folding my arms on my chest.

"I'm sorry dear. I thought he was try to------"

"You thought?" I cut him off. "Jack you literally embarrassed a visitor in front of everyone. He was just innocent." I told him.

"But------"

"Don't try to justify yourself Jack. He's just innocent." I said before leaving angrily. I felt really bad for Matthew.

The picnic ended and everyone started leaving. I went to the car and got into it. Mrs Blackwood gave Ashley to me. It was the first time I carried her for that day. Jack finally got into the car with Max and drove back home.

The ride was a quiet one. Nobody talked to each other. He would try bringing up a conversation at intervals but I never replied. Without saying a word to him after we got home, I went straight into our room and went to bed.

JACK'S POV.

I was disheartened about Emily's withdrawal away from me and her closeness with Matthew. It was getting too much. We barely spoke to each other for days. We were like strangers living under the same roof.

Our company's anniversary was forthcoming and my head wasn't in place. I was battling with the problem at home with Emily and the preparation for the gala. It was so frustrating.

The day finally arrived in no time. All arrangements and preparations were already made. Emily and I had reconciled at this time. We dressed elegantly as we entered into the gala. Father, Mother, Peter, Ethan and Brian were all present for the anniversary.

Of course, Matthew was also present, thanks to Dad. Emily didn't want to invite him so I won't get into a clash with him since we never got along.

As usual, Matthew and Emily chatted for a long time like old friends that just met after so many years. I comported myself so I wouldn't loose it again.

The party went on and on until it was almost closing time. I started feeling drowsy and weak. I couldn't see clearly so I staggered. Everything was blurry. I felt someone hold my hands before I fell unconscious......

EMILY'S POV

I had a heart to heart conversation with Matthew because he seemed like a good man. We sat at the bar discussing until I started feeling drowsy and weak. It was like my whole body was paralyzed. "Are you ok dear?" He asked me as he held my arm.

"Yeah...... yeah...... I'm ok...... I'm just feeling a little bit awkward." I said as I tried standing but ended up on the ground. Matthew was quick in holding me and that was it. Everything turned black.........

THIRD PERSON POV.

Matthew smiled cunningly as he carried Emily in his arms as he walked victoriously to his car. He brought his phone out of his blazer inner pocket. "It's done." He said before hanging up.

He looked around to check if anybody was coming before he got into his car and zoomed off.

Back at the party, Peter, Ethan and Brian rushed to where Jack laid on the floor, wasted. He could barely open his eyes. "What happened to you Jack?" Peter asked him as they helped him up.

"Where-------is---------Emily?" He asked in a drunken voice.

"That's right where is Emily?" Peter asked looking at his brothers.

"The last person I saw her with was Matthew. They were at the bar drinking." Brian said immediately.

"Check outside and look for them. She needs to take care of Jack back at home." Peter instructed Brian who immediately went outside to look for them but he couldn't see anyone.

"I didn't see anyone outside." Brian said when he returned. "And..... Matthew's car is also gone." He added. Everyone became worried and stared searching everywhere but they couldn't find her.

"I knew right from the first day I set my eyes on that guy Matthew that he was up to no good." Ethan said with irritation on his face.

"I think we should report to the police as soon as possible." Peter said.

"I will call them." Mr Blackwood said as he brought his phone out and started calling the police.

"Where is Emily? I need Emily." Jack kept on saying in his drunken state.

They finally took Jack home and have him something to drink to help detox the alcohol in his body. "I think you should to bed now Jack. The police will find out where she went by tomorrow." Peter promised Jack as he tucked him in, in his room.

"Emily....E-mil-y........come back." He kept on muttering her name until he fell asleep.

THREE HOURS BEFORE THE ANNIVERSARY PARTY.

Matthew walked into a house in a lonely place. He looked around before a female figure showed up. "It's today babe." Matthew said as he kissed her lips.

"I'm very happy. Make sure you do it in such a way they would never know." She said with a cunning smirk on her face.

"Definitely. I'm always good at my job." He said kissing her again.

She walked slowly to the beam of light that illuminated from the window in the room and showed her face. Vivian stood proudly as she smiled widely.
