Chapter 11 - Chapter 11

It felt like I was tied in a bottle. Staying in the same house with Vivian was suffocating and Jack was still on her staying. I anticipated for her birth so she could leave, but there was something about her that I needed to find out and to find out, I needed to go to her root.

"Hey dear." Jack suddenly said, as he brought me out of my trance. Still angry from what happened earlier, I didn't reply him. He noticed it and shifted close to me. "Come on dear. Are you going to ignore me now?" He questioned sounding like a child who was deprived from playing.

"I don't want to talk now Jack." I said blankly as I laid down to sleep.

"Ok I'm sorry, but I couldn't let her go like that. Remember she's still carrying my child and I owe more than this to her. After she gives birth, I will give her an apartment in my father's hotel." He explained. Even though I was still awake, I didn't reply him.

When he didn't hear any reply, he sadly went to bed. I felt sorry for him although it was annoying. I placed myself in his shoes and saw that I would do same if I were in that position.

The next morning, I didn't speak to him even after seeing him. He suddenly blocked the way as I was about going out of the room. "I'm sorry dear." He pleaded. He always had this charm in him that always make me fall for him almost every time.

"Fine." I rolled my eyes.

"Yesssss!" He yelped in excitement.

"But after she gives birth, she's leaving." I said leaving the room.

Later that day, I took one of the Jeeps in the garage and drove out with the driver. "You know where she stayed right?" I asked the driver.

"Yes ma'am." He replied as he drove off. He drove until we got to a street filled with different kinds of people roaming about. It was noisy too. "We are here ma'am." The driver told me.

I adjusted my black shades and arranged my hair before stepping down from the car. "What number is the room?" I asked him.

"Room 204." He replied. I nodded at him before heading into the large apartment that stood in front of me. It looked kind of dirty.

When I got to the room, I hesitated before knocking on the door. I didn't hear any reply after knocking, I knocked again and suddenly the door opened. A rugged man in his mid thirties stood in front of me. His red eyes stared daggers into mine. "Who are you here to see?" He questioned accompanied with the stench smell of alcohol. I covered my nose as the room also stunk.

"I'm sorry for disturbing you, but do you know the woman that lived here before you?" I asked him. He scanned me from head to toe before looking back at me.

"There was no one here before me." He said as he tried to shut the door on my face but I was fast in holding it.

"I will give you 500 dollars if you tell me." I told him looking into his eyes to find something. He licked his lower lip as his eyes opened widely, then his face quickly changed into a sour one.

"I'm not interested." He said.

"Ok 10,000 dollars." I topped it still staring into his eyes. He looked like he was battling with telling me or not but the price was too attractive for him to reject.

"Fine, 20,000 dollars or I'm not saying a word." He said as he bid higher.

"Ok." I agreed. He smiled as I saw greed in his eyes. He slowly opened the door to check if I was with anyone. "I'm alone." I said reading his mind which I was good at.

"I know." He said as he let me in. The apartment was tattered with clothes and disarranged. Everywhere looked messy. "Ok, ask whatever you want to ask quickly." He said as if he was waiting for someone.

"Tell me who Vivian is." I told him listening attentively.

"She dated Mr Jack Blackwood for almost 2 years before they broke up." He said looking for something to add up.

"Listen, if you want that 20,000 dollars, you need to tell me something I want to know." I told him. He stood there contemplating for a while, while biting his finger.

"Fine, give it to me and I will tell you everything you need to know." He said. I searched my handbag and brought it out and placed it on the table.

"Now talk." I ordered him.

"Vivian is my girlfriend." He started. I was amazed at his revelation. "We've known each other since childhood. We were both jobless so we resulted into playing people. She came across your husband's photo on the internet and was interested in him. We both planned it together." He stopped for a while as if he remembered something.

"She finally met with him at a party and caught his attention and they started dating. We were slow and steady until one day, Jack caught us having sex in the apartment he rented for her. He broke up with her without wasting any more time. We saw that we haven't even completed our mission so we hatched another plan. When she got pregnant, we decided.............." He trailed off as if the words were heavy in his mouth.

"Go on." I urged him as I anticipated to hear the bomb that was about to explode. He still kept mute pondering on something. "Ok I'm going with it." I said as I attempted to carry the money away.

"Ok ok ok. The baby isn't Jack's baby. It's my baby." He confessed. I smiled as I confirmed my suspicion. "We used that as a bait to keep Jack in our palm. That's how it happened." He finished. "Also, please don't tell her I was the one who told you." He pleaded.

"What if I did?" I asked him and his eyes grew wider.

"She will stop at nothing to get back at me. She's very dangerous and heartless. She can go to any extent to get what she wants." He said in fear.

"Well, I can't promise that but thank you." I said as I left the apartment switching off the video recorder in my bag for evidence. I didn't forget to add the part of the house where their picture was together.

I walked out proudly as I got into my car. Vivian didn't know what was coming for her. She must pay for what she has done to Jack. I knew Jack would be heartbroken but he needed to know the truth which is what I was going to do.

I wasn't fazed one bit by what her lover told me. I suspected her from the first day I saw her and I knew she was hiding something. It didn't take long before finding out. I pitied Jack who cared for her and the baby that was claimed to be his. I smiled proudly as we drove back to the mansion.
