Chapter 1 - Betrayal

Rebecca's body shook violently as she coughed up dry blood, her eyes fixed on Elena's face, twisted in hatred. She couldn't understand why her own sister would treat her with such cruelty. Hadn't she always been obedient and submissive, putting Elena's needs before her own?

Rebecca's mind raced back to their childhood, remembering the times she had sacrificed her own desires to make Elena happy. But now, her sister's eyes gleamed with pleasure as she watched Rebecca suffer. The hefty blows from the mamas rained down on Rebecca, each strike landing with a sickening thud. Blood poured from her mouth and nose, staining her face and clothes.

Rebecca's vision blurred, but she refused to give up. With a Herculean effort, she lifted her head and asked Elena the question that burned in her heart: "Why?" Elena's expression didn't falter, her voice dripping with venom. "You really don't know, do you, Rebecca? ,I just despise you."

"I really, really dislike that you're the official daughter and I'm just the daughter of the mistress. I hate you so much, Rebecca! Everything was always about you, the young second miss of the Duke. You were so delicate, beautiful, and kind. Nobody ever thought about me, the concubine's daughter. I was kept hidden in the Manor, not allowed to go greet the noblest guests because my status was so low. I didn't have Father's love and attention like you did. You got everything! And to make things worse, you even caught the eye of the man I loved! So, tell me, Rebecca, why shouldn't I hate you? You had all the advantages, and I had nothing. It's just not fair!"

Elena grabbed a whip from one of the servants and struck Rebecca with great force on the back. "You had everything going for you, but you were still so useless and foolish," she said with contempt. "I cleverly charmed the fourth prince into marrying me, and you were demoted to a lowly concubine. Your lack of education and reading skills made you an easy target for me. I was the one who poisoned the kings younger cousin and made it seem like you did it. I drugged you and left you helpless in that miserable room. You were so weak and vulnerable."

Elena struck Rebecca again, even harder, causing her to scream in agony. "I took everything that was rightfully mine, and you know what? I also drowned your beloved cousin brother, Henry. Yes, I made sure he would never come to your rescue. I planned it all so perfectly, and you fell into my trap so easily." Rebecca's eyes welled up with tears as she thought of her beloved cousin brother, Wui Hi. He was more than just a cousin to her; he was her confidant, her protector, and her dear friend.

The news of his demise struck her like a thunderbolt, leaving her shattered and heartbroken. She felt a deep sadness wash over her, as if her world had come crashing down around her. With a heavy heart and a sense of desperation, Rebecca summoned her last ounce of strength to rush at Elena, determined to make her pay for her cruel deeds. But before she could reach her, a sharp kick on her lower abdomen. The person who kicked her was her supposed husband, Thomas.

He was a tall and handsome man with a cold and cruel heart. His eyes were like ice, and his smile could freeze your blood. He was charming and manipulative, using his wit and good looks to get what he wanted. He was a master of deception, and Rebecca was his latest victim. As Thomas kicked Rebecca, his face twisted in disgust. "How dare you attempt to touch my woman with these disgusting fingers of yours?." . "You're nothing but a weak and useless concubine," he sneered. "You're not even worth my attention."

He turned to Elena, his eyes gleaming with admiration. "But you, my dear wife, are a true gem. You're clever, beautiful, and kind, You're the perfect partner for me." Rebecca's eyes widened in shock as she realized the truth. Her husband, the man she thought she loved, was actually a monster. He had used her, manipulated her, and betrayed her. She felt a wave of nausea wash over her, and her vision blurred. But she refused to give up. With a fierce determination, she lifted her head and asked colly." Thomas, did you ever love me."

Thomas gazed at her with icy disdain, his voice dripping with venom. "How dare a lowly concubine like you question my authority? Guards, take her away and toss her into the lake. Make sure she meets her death." The guards came forward to take Rebecca away, but she didn't cry anymore. She looked at Thomas and Elena with a cold expression as they pulled her out. "Please, just one more chance," she thought to herself.

The guards stuffed a rag into Rebecca's mouth, silencing her pleas. They dragged her to the lake, her legs kicking wildly as she struggled to break free.

With a cruel laugh, they tossed her into the water, watching as she sank beneath the surface. The lake's calm waters quickly turned turbulent as Rebecca fought to stay afloat, her eyes fixed on the shore where her tormentors stood.

But it was no use. The guards had made sure she was too weak to swim, and the weight of her waterlogged clothes pulled her down. As the lake closed over her head, she thought about herself.

Everything had been taken from her - her family, her home, and now her life. The last thing she saw was the smiling face of Elena, her sister, her enemy.

Rebecca woke up covered in water, she made a splattering sound as she stood up from the bath tub, how come she was here? wasn't she already dead?

She looked around, confused and disoriented. The bathroom was familiar ,but she had no memory of how she got there.

Rebecca's mind raced as she tried to piece together her past. She remembered her sister Elena's cruelty, her husband Thomas's betrayal, and her own tragic fate.

But how was she alive? And why was she back in this bathroom, reliving the same moment over again?
