"Haha, that must be a joke, right?" Rachel said, feeling disoriented.
"Alpha Liam, she's just a servant with no class and no WOLF!" Alpha Desmond said. I spun to face Alpha Liam to see the disappointed look on his face, causing me to stagger back in shame.
What was I thinking? That he would take me in? Hell no! No Alpha would want a wolf-less girl like me to be their mate and Luna of their pack
"The Moon goddess can never be wrong. I'd love to speak with your elders about the settlement of her dowry," He said and sat back down, ready to spend a few more minutes before leaving.
I swallowed hard and turned to Alpha Desmond, who gazed at me with eyes filled with disgust
"You won't be able to speak with our council of elders today! I have to call on them and then, at least in 20 hours, they'll assemble." Alpha Desmond informed, causing Alpha Liam to turn to his beta before parting his lips to say,
"Adjust my schedule to tomorrow!"
"Yes sir, should I inform the elders back at our pack about the good news?" His beta asked.
"Good news?" I thought in disbelief before gazing down at my shoes as I noticed Alpha Liam turning to gaze at me
"Yes Beta Leo, Inform them!" He responded, causing Leo to nod his head before standing to his feet, excusing himself from the table
Standing behind Rachel, beads of sweat started forming on my forehead. I could feel the heat emitting from her body. Ever since she heard the Alpha of Titanium Moon pack would be paying a visit to our pack, she had been preparing, hoping that she'd marry into one of the strongest packs.
"Alpha Liam…." Alpha Desmond paused, he let out a long sigh before forcing a smile on his face, "I'll have my servants prepare a room for you and your beta, settle in since you're going to be staying the night. I'll check up on how you're doing later," He said and stood up. Taking a glance at me, he left the dining room.
"I'm glad that you'll be staying for the night, Alpha Liam, I hope…"
"What is your name?" Liam asked, cutting Rachel off. I turned to look behind to see if he was speaking to someone else, but there was no one behind me
"Quiet girl… What's your name?" He asked again. I felt my face turning red, and I tried to avoid his gaze so that he wouldn't notice the blush on my face
"Au… Aurora," I stuttered with my gaze on my shoe
"Em… Rachel, you and Aurora planned on choosing designs on the new pack house rooms," The Luna said, leaving me stunned. I furrowed my brows but I couldn't question her so I kept quiet
"We did?" Rachel asked, bewildered. I wasn't the only one shocked by the Luna's statement
"oh, yes! Have you forgotten?" The Luna asked and chuckled softly before turning to Alpha Liam
"Do not mind her Alpha Liam, Rachel and Aurora are like best friends, a good relationship between a royal blood and her common handmaid," The Luna made sure to stretch the word "common"
"Ooh… yes! That is true! Come on, let's pick new designs and let the Alpha settle in," Rachel said, turning to me with a sweet fake smile on her face, leaving me uncomfortable.
Having no choice, I followed her out of the dining room, but then her mood immediately changed as we got to the hallway.
"Do not think that you would leave this pack on my watch! His people will not even accept you!" She spat, turning to the halls. She growled and dragged me with her.
"Come on, my bedroom is dirty, and it needs some cleaning" She gritted her teeth in anger but as she dragged me through the halls, a thick voice suddenly made us halt.
"Why are you dragging her???" We quickly turned in the direction where we heard the sharp thick voice. My eyes immediately fell on Alpha Desmond.
"Brother! How can this happen?" She immediately let go of my hand. I stepped back, avoiding Desmond's gaze.
"You haven't answered my question! If Alpha Liam had seen you dragging his mate like an animal through the halls, then that's a deal closed for us," Desmond said.
"But… but…" Rachel stuttered in frustration, she pointed at me,
"You, good for nothing… argh," she growled and clutched the hem of her dress in frustration before storming down to her room by the end of the hallway.
I heaved a long sigh of relief, but I wasn't completely safe with Alpha Desmond around. Slowly, I tried to sneak out of his sight to the slave quarter. I turned in the opposite direction while he gazed at the dark halls that his sister stormed past.
"And where do you think you're going" My heart instantly jumped into my stomach as I threw my hand up to my chest in fear.
"I'm… I'm… I'm… sorry, Alpha Desmond. I only wanted to resume my chores," I stuttered
"Come with me," he said sternly. I couldn't move an inch. I hated Alpha Desmond, but I didn't have the guts to disobey him. That was an offense punishable by treason.
"Are you deaf, slave girl? Come with me!" He seethed, sending shivers down my spine.
"There are no chores left to handle in your chambers, sir. What do you need me for?" I summoned the courage to ask while using my nails to pierce my palm.
"Ha, the guts! How sure are you that you're mated to Alpha Desmond? Huh? Stop being delusional, you don't even have a wolf to feel the bond," A dry laugh escaped his lips, making me more scared.
"My desk is dusty. Better come and bend over to clean it," he whispered, causing me to move back.
"My mate will come with me instead. Ask another servant to clean your desk," Liam said from behind
