Chapter 20 - Chapter 20 Dysfunctional

Shit, we're too late....

Mila, Tristan, Chad, and Alfonso stood in the hospital room where Anna was supposed to be with Phoenix. Confusion and worry filled the air as they tried to make sense of the situation. "What happened? Do you think that they have been kidnapped?" Mila asks.

Just as Tristan was about to respond, a sudden, loud bang echoed from the bathroom door, causing Alfonso to shriek and jump behind Chad, seeking protection. Chad glanced over his shoulder at the trembling Alfonso and shook his head, rolling his eyes in disbelief.

Alfonso whispered to Mila, "Go and see what it is." He pointed towards the bathroom door.

"And you want to protect and save me?" Mila chuckled at Alfonso's request, mustering the courage to approach the door. Taking a deep breath, she opened it, only to find Anna and Phoenix sprawled on the floor, entangled with each other.

"What on earth are the two of you doing?" Chad demanded, his voice filled with a mix of confusion and annoyance.

"Uh..we...maybe you should explain Anna," Phoenix struggled to catch his breath as he tried to explain still tangled on the floor with Anna.

"Okay, we were just hiding in the bathroom, she stammered, her voice barely above a whisper." There were...men with guns in the room and well when they left, we...uummm started kissing and...."

"That's enough, we don't need the detail," Chad intervened.

"Spoilsport!" Tristan shoots at Chad.

"MILAAAA!!,"Anna screamed, untangling herself from Phoenix and jump up to hug her sister.

"Hello baby sis, I'm so glad to see you and to see that you're okay."

"I'm totally fine Mila, and the doctor said I'll be discharged tomorrow," Anna let go of Mila, she looked at Tristan and then at Chad and lifted an eyebrow when she saw Alfonso, she almost flipped over. "What the fuck are you doing here?"

"Well, hello to you too, and I'm here to protect your sister, if you must know."

Tristan couldn't contain himself and burst out laughing..."Yeah dude, protecting while you're hiding behind the model with killer looks."

Alfonso's eyes narrowed, his usually calm demeanor momentarily breaking. "Shut up Tristan," he retorted, his voice laced with irritation.

"What's going on Mila?" Anna asked, her voice trembling with unease. "Why are the three of them here together? And why aren't they trying to kill each other?"

"It's called a love triangle, Anna," Alfonso retorted.

"Well, I don't approve of the shape of it," Tristan snapped back.

"You both are idiots," Chads muttered leaning against the wall, clearly not pleased with the situation.

"Mila, I think you have a very dysfunctional love life," Phoenix finally let everybody know that he's there as well.

Mila let out a tired sigh, " I know..."

Suddenly, the entire room erupted in chaos. Without warning, a powerful force sent, Mila, Tristan, Chad, and Alfonso flying through the air. They tumbled and twisted, crashing into walls and furniture as glass shattered and erupted all around them.

In the midst of the chaos, Anna managed to find her bearings and called out for the others. "I'm here Anna," she desperately shouted through the smoke and debris from behind the food trolley near the bed

Anna quickly made her way to Mila's side, relieved to see that she was safe. "Where are the boys?" Mila asked still coughing.

Maddox emerged from the rubble, his eyes wide with shock, asking what just happened. Anna silenced him with a finger to her lips, altering him to the presence of armed men searching for them.

The rest of them also emerged from the rubble and Mila signaled for everyone to gather in what remained of the bathroom. They huddled together and hide as they waited in tense silence. One of the armed men ventured into the bathroom, unknowingly getting closer to their hiding spot.

In a split second, Anna sprang into action. Her grip tightened on the man's throat before he could react, sending him crashing to the ground. Seizing the opportunity, she swiftly disarmed him and motioned for Mila to join her.

"Why aren't you helping them," Phoenix asked confused by the unfolding events.

"Oh, you'll see soon enough," Tristan calmly responded with a glimmer of determination in his eyes.

The next moment Mila and Anna were back with a heap of guns. "Right, here's enough for everyone," Anna said. "We can't rely on luck alone." Chad and Phoenix just raised their eyebrows and looked at each other.

"Come on, there's no time for hesitating, grab a gun and let's go," Mila said.

The group sprang into action, grabbing the weapons and distributing them amongst themselves. As they cautiously made their way out of the wreckage, the sound of sirens echoing in the distance, they knew they needed to move fast.

With quick, calculated movements, they reached the cars and sped away, tires screeching on the asphalt. Making sure nobody was following them, they took the turn off to the house. Arriving at the beach house, they didn't waste a moment, ensuring their surroundings were secure, Mila helped her sister inside and all of them huddled around the table.

Tristan took charge, ordering food to replenish their drained energy. He went to the fridge took out a couple of beers, cracked them open, and got the girls a bottle of wine and glasses.

Mila leaned forward, her eyes meeting her sister's determined gaze. "We must face this head-on," she said firmly, her voice filled with resolve. "We won't let this control our fate, even more now that the focus is of me and turned to you."

"We have each other, Mila, but why me? Anna asks with confusion.

"Why don't you ask your boyfriend, Anna, isn't that right heir to the Yakuza's, Mila said glaring at Phoenix.

Suddenly, the tension in the room became palpable. Mila's words hung in the air like heavy fog, casting a shadow over the room. Anna's eyes widened, her breath catching in her throat. "What? Tell me this is not true Phoenix..."

Phoenix too seemed taken aback by Mila's revelation as the weight of the truth settled upon them. "How did you find out?" he said finely finding his voice.

"That's not important now, we can discuss that later. What matters is what we're up against," Tristan said his tone laced with determination. "And what we can do to protect ourselves. We need an army to fight back, Phoenix, if we can't rely on you to help, then it's up to only me and Alfonso."

I'm sorry, I won't be able to help, I don't want anything to do with my father's criminal empire, it's bad...I just don't have the heart for it," Phoenix sighed looking down.

"But do we know who we are up against?" Anna asks.

"I think we do, isn't it right Mila?" Chad answers, ever so observant.

"Why do you think I know, Chad?"

Chad's eyes meet Mila's with a gaze head-on. "He kidnapped you and you spoke to him...and like I said in our previous discussion. You and Anna will become one, none of us are a factor. So, what we are up against isn't going to leave you two alone until it's going to happen what is supposed to happen.

"What, is this true Mila? Did you speak to the bastard who shot me? Are you protecting him?" Anna whispered her voice trembling.

"Yes, it's true," Tears welled up in Mila's eyes, her voice shaking as she spoke. I did talk to him, but I'm not protecting him, he wasn't the one that shot you. He is also searching for the one who shot you because he is there to make sure the prophesy does happen."

"This is confusing Mila, I don't understand, but tell me, who kidnap you?"

Mila sigh looked down and she said with hesitation.

"It's Alex, and he's working for the Ghost...."
