Chapter 26 - Chapter 26 Fantasy World

"Pedro, I need an update on the twins, and I need it now," Alex demanded, the urgency in his voice palpable. Time was slipping away, and they couldn't afford any delays.

Pedro carefully approaches the table positioned against the wall, the weight of the situation heavy on his shoulders. His eyes flickered to the scattered papers where Alex wrestled with the last bit of pieces of instructions, he received.

Alex patience wore thin as he leaned forward, his voice sharp with irritation. "Speak up, Pedro. We are running out of time here.

Pedro shifted uncomfortably and took a deep breath, his voice carrying a tinge of nervousness. "Boss, she's still unconscious. It's been two days, and we're yet to see any signs of awakening."

Alex bristled, mix of frustration and worry clouding his features. "Is she at least still breathing?" he pressed, his tone betraying the underlying fear.

"Yes boss," Pedro replied cautiously. "We're monitoring her carefully, ensuring she remains stable."

A flicker of relief washed over Alex's face, but his attention quickly shifted. "And what about her sister? Has she regained consciousness?"

Pedro hesitated, acutely aware of the gravity of his impending response. "Yes, she is, but..."He glanced downward, knowing very well he's going to lose his life. "Boss, she never fully succumbed to the sedatives. She's too resilient."

"What?" Alex narrows his eyes, and a piercing gaze bore into Pedro.

Pedro swallowed hard, his throat dry, his fear palpable. "Boss...there's one more thing... She knows who we are and where we're located."

Alex's anger surged to fore, his frustration boiling over. "You idiots!" he spat. "That wasn't supposed to happen, everything I worked on for the last 3 years is all for nothing!"

"Boss, I apologize, but the situation escalated much quicker than we anticipated. She was surprisingly strong, and we had to act swiftly before her boyfriend arrived.

A thunderous rage filled the room as Alex slammed his fist against the table, his frustration boiling over. "You imbecile! Her boyfriend couldn't handle a gun even if his life depends on it! How in this world do you think he could ever be a threat to me?" he bellowed. "I'm surrounded by a bunch of incompetents. Do I have to do everything myself?"

MEANWHILE

"Milllaaaa!!!!!! Anna's desperate screams echoed through the cold empty corridors. The sound seemed to dissipate into the darkness, leaving only an eerie silence in its wake. Milllaaa!!!! please answer! Where are you?!"

The heavy doors to Anna's cell creaked open, revealing two guards, their expression stoic. Alex followed closely behind, exciding an air of calculated menace. He stood before Anna, his gaze cold and unforgiving.

"You can scream all you want," he sneered, his voice dripping with sadistic delight. "She's still out. She won't hear you."

Fear and anger consumed Anna. Questions tumbled out in a frenzy, barely coherent in her distress. "What have you done with her? Is she even alive? And why...why are you doing this to us? She told me about you Alex. Why?" Desperation laced every word, along with a sense of betrayal. "You're family! Ug, and it stink in here do you ever clean this place?"

A cruel smirk twisted on Alex's face, his eyes gleaming with a twisted pleasure. "Calm down Angel," he taunted. "Mila's fine. She's still unconscious from the drugs we injected her with. Her fragile system couldn't handle the strain, we didn't anticipate it, but her body failed her." He shrugged nonchalantly, as if her suffering meant nothing. "And this place...well, it doesn't belong to me. It belongs to Tristan.

"Don't dare tell me to calm down," Anna seethed through gritted teeth. 'If I ever managed to break free from these ropes, I'll make sure you pay for everything you've done. Mark my words."

A sinister smile crept across Alex's face as he taunted her. "Well good luck with that. You'll never escape this place, as long as you keep sleeping with that photographer, your chances are zero."

Confusion and anger filled Anna's eyes as she stared at him. "But why? why do you care who I sleep with? And moreover, you're supposed to be our protector, not our kidnapper.

Alex's gaze turned icy, revealing a hidden agenda. "Yes, your right and yes your father did hire me to keep you safe, but that's not where my work stops. I have a much grander mission than just being your babysitter."

"What! Who...are you working for then? If my father finds out that you have betrayed him, you are as good as dead.

A bitter laugh escape Alex's lips, mocking her with his deception. "Wait...all this time you actually pretended to be in love with me? You faked your concern for us? You deceitful liar!" The realization hit her like a punch to the gut, shattering any remnants of trust she had placed in him.

"Wow, that's quite a mouthful, and feisty as always," Alex remarked with a tinge of sarcasm. "I do care Anna that's why I'm doing this, I need to stop you and Mila from marrying those idiots and let the prophesy continue, so both of you can take your rightful place" he declared, his voice carrying a note of seriousness.

"Excuse me, what did you just say?" Anna's eyes widened in disbelief at his revelation. "The prophecy is only for one of us Alex."

"You haven't paying attention, Anna, and that was always your weak point, that is exactly where I'm one step ahead of you, I know everything about you and daddy dearest already know about me," Alex declared while shaking his head.

Suddenly the door of the dungeon burst open, creaking on its rusty hinges. A shadowy figured appeared in the doorway, sorry, boss," he exclaimed, his breathing ragged. She's awake and she doesn't stop screaming. We can't hold her any longer."

Anna heard the sound of her sisters muffled scrams echoing through the dungeon, causing her to stiffen. "Milllaaaa! Milllaaa! I'm here!" Anna cried out.

Alex whirled around, his eyes narrowing dangerously. "Keep this one's mouth shut, I will go and deal with her, and don't screw up this time. He growled.

"Yes Boss..." Pedro barely had a change to finish speaking when he saw Alex was already gone.

The guards reluctantly open the door to Mila's cell, allowing Alex to step inside. "Where is Anna? Mila demanded, "I heard her scream and why are you keeping us in this horrible place? You know you can't keep us here forever. Father will find out. Not to mention Tristan and Alfonso, so if I where you I would let us go."

Alex approach Mila slowly, his face twisted into a menacing scowl

"You know you and your sister are exactly the same you never seem to be able to keep quiet for one second. Alex said his voice radiated with annoyance. Anna is fine she's just worried about you, so if you behave, I will let both of you together in one room." And daddy dearest has been taken care of, he won't come to your rescue this time and as for all your other boyfriends, they are exactly where they supposed to be.... DEAD."

A shiver ran down Mila's spine as absorbed Alex's chilling words. "What!! you are laying Alex," Mila retorted. "Tristan isn't even here, and Alfonso...Alfonso is too dangerous to be captured."

A chilling chuckle echoed on through the room, dripping with malice. "Hahaha, think again Cupcake, you've forgotten who I am and more importantly who trained me."

Before Mila could respond, the sound of a distress guard erupts from the background as he burst through the dungeon's door. "Boss, boss we are under attack!"

"Handle it I'm busy!", Alex commanded, dismissing the guard's urgent report.

"But boss, it's her boyfriend," the guard continued hastily. The photographer and he bought an army, we're outnumbered.

"What? Chad?" both Mila and Alex said in sync, and they stared at each other, mouths agape in shock.

Mila's face lit up, she knew Chad wasn't just a photographer, but what is he hiding, she thought.

"So, Alex," Mila muttered sarcastically. "What's your next move. Looks like you're done..."

"Shut up Mila," Alex spat back. "Just pray that you and your sister get out of this alive tonight, this is not a joke anymore, your little fantasy world is about to end because we are dealing with the Ghost now."
