Chapter 15 - Chapter 15 Three is a perfect number.

"No, I haven't forgotten, and why do you treat me like this, why didn't you just come and talk to me? We're family! Does my father even know about this?" Mila fired with questions.

"Woh! Slow down Angel, I said behave, and no, your father doesn't know about this, but he will soon enough, your father has secrets of his own that need to come out. But to answer your question about why I treat you like this is that.... I have my reasons okay, and that's all you need to know for now...." But I have a few questions myself so answer them like a good little girl that I know you are then I will give you information about Anna. Deal Angel?"

Mila let out a frustrated sigh. "Alright, deal, Alex, my so-called protector/kidnaper," she spat at him.

Smirking, Alex replied, "Good girl. Now, let's get to the bottom of things. Why three Mila?"

Confused, Mila asked, "What do you mean by, why three?"

Alex playfully corrected himself, sensing her growing annoyance, "Okay, let me rephrase it. First, we have an Italian scumbag. Secondly, there's someone that's supposed to be dead but is very much alive. And now, we have a new addition to the family, a famous Singaporean photographer, wow, Mila, it's quite an interesting situation.

Mila retorted, "Well three is a perfect number, don't you agree?"

Chuckling, Alex responded. "Hahaha there's that witty Angel again, but remember, you still need to have to behave."

Reluctantly, Mila conceded, Fine, okay yes, I do care about all three of them but there's just one thing you seem to have forgotten...Alfonso broke off the engagement and...

Suddenly she was cut off by a loud explosion just outside the door, causing it to shatter and collapse to the ground. The room filled with thick smoke obscuring visibility. Coughing and struggling to breathe, Mila desperately tried to make sense of the chaos unfolding before her eyes.

Gunshots rang out and the sound of fierce combat echoed throughout the room. Mila strained to see through the smoke, her hands tied, her head feeling heavy. Determination flooded through her, urging her to break free. With a surge of adrenaline, she made one last effort to untie her bound hands, fighting against the restraints.

Just as her vision started to blur, and consciousness slipped away, there was a sudden touch on her wrists. Someone swiftly untied her hands and placed a gas mask over her head, providing a lifeline in the suffocating haze. A whisper brushed against her ear, sending chills down her spine.

"I'm here, princess. Don't worry, everything will be fine."

Mila recognized the voice instantly. It was her father. Relief washed over her as she threw her arms around him, feeling the weight of unconsciousness descend upon her.

Outside, Susan stood anxiously by the car, her heart racing. Beside her, the Doctor waited, equally concerned. Through the billowing smoke emerged a figure, carrying an unconscious Mila in his arms. Susan cried out and rushed towards them, engulfing her husband and daughter in a tearful embrace.

"She'll be okay, darling," Vincent reassured Susan, his voice filled with both relief and concern. "It's just smoke and shock. Let's get her to the doctor to be on the safe side."

Together they made their way towards the waiting cars, the persistent echoes of gunfire and chaos fading into the background.

Vincent placed Mila in the backseat of the sleek black SUV, his eyes filled with determination. Turning to the doctor, he spoke with an icy coldness, "Attend to her. Make sure she's okay." His intense gaze pierced through the doctor's soul, leaving no room for mistakes.

Without wasting a breath, Vincent shifted his focus to his wife, and in an instant, the coldness drained from his face, replaced by warmth. "Stay with her darling," he gently spoke, his voice filled with concern. "I'm going to see if they captured that bastard. And I hope they did because I'm going to kill him."

His wife's eyes widened with worry, her voice pleading, "Vincent, be careful. but remember, he's family."

Vincent's expression hardened, his determination resurfacing with an unyielding force. "That's my daughter he messed with," he growled, his voice tinged with rage. "I don't care if he's family. He's going to pay."

With resolute steps, Vincent turned away from his wife and marched back towards the looming building, his heart pounding with vengeance.

Entering the building, Vincent sought out Carlos, demanding an update. His voice boomed through the air, filled with frustration and anger. "We lost him, boss."

Shock and disbelief washed over Vincent "What? How is that possible? We had him cornered!"

Carlos lowered his gaze, his voice filled with regret. "He used one of our own to escape, boss. He knows us inside out, knows every move we make."

A primal roar escaped Vincent's throat, echoing through the walls. " Alex! I'm going to find you!" He shouted, his voice carrying the weight of a promise. "And I'm going to kill you!"

Back at the SUV, the doctor was busy attending to Mila when she regained consciousness.

"M..mother...where am I? What...happened?" Mila said, holding her hand to her head as she tried to sit upright on the back seat.

Shhh...now, lay down, princess, I'm here. Don't worry, everything will be fine. Just relax and breathe," her mother said, stroking her hair and smiling.

"She will be fine. She just needs a lot of rest and a lot of homemade food to regain her strength. And here is some pain medication. She can take two every 4 to 5 hours," the doctor provided feedback to Mila's mother.

Vincent walked back to the car. "Come, let's get her home. They lost the bastard. My men will do the clean-up, and we can discuss everything when everyone is back," Vincent said to his wife aS they got into the SUV and drove off.

"Where are we?" Mila asks while they were driving home.

"You're back in Italy, Alex kidnapped you in Singapore and brought you all the way back," her mother answered.

But why? Mila asks and suddenly the memories flushed back. "Oh no... Anna ... Mother Anna..."

Mila's Mother cut her off. "Don't worry princess. Anna's fine. Well, not fine, but she's alive. She's still in a comma," Susan said with sadness.

"Secrets..." Mila whispered.

"What did you say?" Mila's Father asked, turning his head from where he sat in front to look at her.

"Nothing Father. I was just wondering."

As soon as they reach the mansion, Mila jumps out of the car and rushed towards it to get to her room.

"Wait Mila, your room is occupied. I forgot to tell you Alfonso is sleeping there." Her mother called after her.

"Shit, I forgot," Mila muttered to herself and face-palm herself. "Ouch...my head still hurts."

"Alfonso's not here," Vincent said as he walked up next to them. "He had a mission of his own and needed to go out of the country for a while."

"Ah...thank heavens, " Mila said and rushed to her room, she locked the door behind her and went to pick up the phone to make a call to Singapore. But when she tried dialing the number, it was completely dead.

"It's not working, Mila. I cut the line, so you won't be able to make any phone calls," Vincent said, standing in her doorway with his hands in his pockets.

"Father! Mila said in surprise. "How did you get in? My door was locked?"

"This is my house, Mila. You forgot that I can open any door in this house. Come down and eat something, then you can get rest. There's a lot we need to discuss, but we'll do that tomorrow.

"Yes...Father," Mila said, standing up from her chair and following her father downstairs to the dinner table.

Mila was eating like a wolf. "Careful, Mila. You're going to have an upset stomach if you eat like that," her mother warned.

"I know, Mother, but I'm just so hungry, and I missed this food so much," Mila said between bites.

After dinner, Mila thanked her mother and Father, said goodnight and gave them each a hug before heading to her room.

Mila tossed and turned in her bed, unable to sleep. Thoughts of Chad and Tristan swirled in her mind like a tornado of confusion. As she stared at her ceiling all hell broke loose outside the mansion.

Gunshots echoed through the night, immediately followed by blaring sirens. Mila jolted upright, her heart racing like a formula one race car on a racetrack. She dashed towards the window, desperate to catch a glimpse of the chaos unfolding outside.

But just as she neared the window, it shattered into a million pieces, sending shards of glass flying in every direction. Before she could react, two mysterious figures leaped through the broken window and landed gracefully in her room.

One of the intruders grabbed hold of Mila, his grip like a vice, while the other menacingly held a needle to her delicate neck. Mila's eyes widened in terror as she whispered, "No... not again," her voice barely a breath before darkness enveloped her and she succumbed to unconsciousness.
