Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 Vincent's dilemma

Vincent's office felt like a pressure cooker ready to burst. The tension thickened with each passing second, creating an almost suffocating atmosphere. "Go fetch my daughter and bring her to my office immediately!" Vincent barked at his men guarding the entrance. Sitting across from Vincent's desk, Alex anxiously tapped his feet on the floor, prompting another outburst from Vincent. "Will you stop that? It's driving me insane!" Vincent's outburst only added to the unease in the room.

Curiosity overcame his fear. Alex mustered the courage to ask, "What are you planning to do with her, boss?" He was well aware that betrayal and deceit had no place in the mafia, especially within the Martinelli family. Vincent had earned a reputation as one of the most ruthless Dons in the industry, and he wouldn't hesitate to make an example out of even his own flesh and blood.

Before Vincent could respond, the large doors to his office swung open, and the guards entered, struggling to hold onto Anna. They forcefully dragged her towards one of the seats beside Alex and forced her down onto it. Despite her disheveled appearance and hair obscuring her face, Anna glared at her father with eyes filled with rage. "Consider yourself lucky that I'm half-sedated," she hissed. "Otherwise, I would tear this place apart with my bare hands." Anna's sharp words cut through the air, challenging her father's authority.

Alex's eyes widened as he laid eyes on Anna. "Boss?" were the only words he could manage to get out.

Ignoring Alex, Vincent focuses all his attention on Anna. The interrogation began and Anna's defiance clashed against her father's relentless pursuit of information. "Now tell me, Anna, where is your sister?"

"I don't know. I saw her getting on the plane you stopped and surrounded. But wait...if you're asking me, it means you didn't find her, right? Anna turned to Alex, trying to read his expression.

Vincent rose from behind his desk and approached Anna. "Tell me where your sister is, Anna?"

"I already told you, I don't know. And even if I did, I wouldn't tell you," Anna hissed defiantly.

"If you want to see your sister alive again, you will tell me everything you know," Vincent said, growing weary of Anna's stubbornness.

Anna's eyes widened in shock as she heard her father's words, and it was enough to shatter her composure. Uncontrollably, the floodgates of emotion burst open, and she sobbed between her cries, pleading, "Daddy, please don't do anything to her."

The emotional turmoil reached its peak when Vincent, torn between fatherly love and mafia duty, dropped to his knees, embracing her tightly and attempting to comfort her. He gently stroked her hair, saying, "Shhh, baby girl, don't cry. I would never hurt your sister. She's my daughter too, and I love her very much. But I need to know where she is so I can keep her safe. So please if you know anything tell me."

"Boss she's telling the truth," Alex dare to interrupt. "The only information that I could gather was that she was supposed to board the plane to Singapore."

Vincent turned his head sharply, shooting Alex a warning glare. "And you dare to still sit here? Get out and go find my daughter!" Vincent's voice boomed with a mixture of anger and concern. "Do you realize we're dealing with the Chinese Triad here? If they find Mila before we do, she's as good as dead. Do you understand that?" With his words hanging heavy in the air, Vincent rose from his knees and took a deep breath. "Don't worry, Anna. We will find her."

Anna composed herself, her tears subsiding. "I know, Daddy," she said her voice steady and determined. "I know you love her and want to protect her, but you forgot something. Mila can protect herself better than anyone, even better than you and Alex can. She was one of your best on missions, after all. If something were to happen to her out there, it would be because you were interfering. And Alex, did you really think Mila didn't know you were tapping her phone? Look what happened last night, she outsmarted both of you."

Taking a deep breath, Anna continued her words filled with resolve. "Daddy, you need to listen to her for once. If you had just done that, none of this would have happened. So, if I were you, I would back off and let her do her thing. Because if anything happens to my sister, I'm holding you responsible."

Anna stood up from the chair, determined to leave the room. However, the two guards blocking her path stepped forward. Without hesitation, Anna swiftly retrieved a knife from the back of her pants and pointed it at them, "Don't even try," she warned them, "because I WILL KILL YOU."

"Let her go," Vincent instructed his guards to release her, fully aware that Anna possessed the ability to effortlessly kill them.

Meanwhile, Mila unaware of the turmoil at home, sat in the airplane, gazing out the window at the sun that rose between the clouds, contemplating the events that led her to this moment. "I just hope Anna and Alex are okay," she thought, concern filling her mind. "I didn't mean to be too hard on them, but I knew what Alex was up to. I just wish Anna could have seen through that."

"Please fasten your seatbelts. The plane will land in 30 minutes at Heathrow Airport," the pilot announced, interrupting Mila's thoughts.

As soon as the plane touched down, Mila quickly collected her belongings. When they announced that the passengers could disembark, she hurriedly made her way out, determined to catch the next flight to Singapore. She ran as fast as she could to reach her next check-in point, feeling out of breath from the sprint. " I can't believe they booked the flights so close to each other. How am I supposed to be on time for everything?" she whispered to herself.

By sheer luck, Mila arrived just in time before they closed the gate. She handed her ticket to the gate agent, received her papers back, and the lady smiled, signaling that she could now board the plane.
