Akua searched Kwame's eyes, looking for any sign of deception. But all she saw was sincerity and a deep longing.
"Kwame, I want to believe you," Akua said, her voice barely above a whisper. "But trust needs to be earned. How can I trust you after everything you've done?"
Kwame nodded understandingly. "I know I've hurt you, Akua. But I promise to make it right. I'll do whatever it takes to regain your trust."
Akua studied him for a moment before responding. "I need time to think. Can we talk later?"
Kwame nodded, his face etched with concern. "Of course, Akua. Take all the time you need."
As Akua left Kwame's office, she felt a glimmer of hope. Maybe, just maybe, they could move forward together.
