Ava's POV:
Yan frowned at me. "Can you…"
"I don't want to listen to you, Yan," I chimed in and turned my attention to Mike.
"Why did you call for me?" I just wanted him to go straight to the point so I could return to my life.
"Yan…" Mike said, and Yan returned to his seat.
"I want the kids to be happy, Ava," Mike started, and I felt like I knew where this was going.
I clenched my fist tightly as his lips parted. "So I suggest Yan and you do co-parenting," he blurted, and I sighed in relief. I thought he was going to suggest we live as a couple.
Wait, what did he mean by coparenting?
Yan stood up and checked his watch. "I need to leave."
Did he really have nothing to say? He walked to the door before he stopped on his path, and his gaze met mine.
"You are mine; the kids are mine, so fuck coparenting." Then he left. I could hear his car drive out before I turned my attention to Mike.
"I am not sharing my kids with that narcissistic man," I scolded and hurried out of the house, got to my car, and drove out.
Co parenting? Really, Mike, was that all he could come up with?
I parked my car in front of EN and walked in. The workers stared at me as they gossiped with their friends; they must be wondering what I was doing here even after being fired.
I went straight to Sisa's office and knocked when her cold voice came through, "Come in."
As I stepped in, the normal frown on her face deepened. "What are you doing here, Ava?"
"Sisa, come on, Yan Earlton agreed not to sue the company, so why are you sending me away?"
She hit her fist on the table angrily. "The West's are suing us; do you know what that means?"
How was it my fault? She told me that if I convinced Yan not to sue the company, then even the Wests wouldn't, so how is it my fault that they are still pushing through?
"Get out, Ava," she scolded, and I folded my hands tightly; I couldn't be without a job.
I needed money to care for my kids; soon it will be the kids birthday, and I had promised them a big party this time around. In order to organize a big party for them, I needed to accumulate about three months of my salary.
"Sisa please…"
"I will make it up; do you want me to write medical articles for a month? I will…please." Medical articles were so boring, but I was willing to do that.
"Get the West's to let EN go, then you can resume work," she stated, and I frowned. How was I supposed to do that?
I didn't know them or even were to meet with them, and the only West I had met was Linda, and I had offended her big time; maybe that's why they are suing.
"Uhm, I will be back." I hurried out of the office and went to the restroom as I unblocked Yan and dialed his contact, who immediately got connected.
"Baby," his voice came in, and I felt my toes curled. What was it with these pet names?
"Why are you still suing EN? Is this your way of hurting me?"
"I will never hurt you, and the Earltons aren't suing EN," he explained, and I breathed heavily.
"The Earltons aren't, but the Wests are; can't you ask your little fiance to back off?"
The line went silent for a while before he said, "6pm, make me a meal at my place, and I will fix everything."
"Huh?" Had he lost his mind, didn't he have maids to make him a meal or what?
"I will ask the maids to help you out; I have a meeting right now," then the line got disconnected.
"Ahhh!!" I screamed angrily. Why did he love making me so angry?
I hurried out of the restroom when I heard Kim having a conversation over the phone.
"Hmm, she had no shame and still showed up at the office."
Who was she talking to?
"I heard Sisa talking to the higher-ups, and Ava was my only competition to getting the promotion, but now she is fired, so I am definitely getting it." She had an excited look, then I knocked on her desk as she flipped her chair, and her gaze met mine.
She was a little nervous and ended the call. "Uhm, what can I do for you?" she asked, and I smiled.
"You think I am fired? Too bad for you; I will be resuming work tomorrow."
Her eyes widened in shock. "I don't believe you; there is no way you could get the West's to stop suing us."
I rolled my eyes and waved at her, "See you tomorrow."
There was no way I was going to give that bitch the satisfaction of getting rid of me, and at what risk? Making a meal for Yan.
That man was unbelievable. I drove for a while before I arrived at Yan's mansion and walked to the door when an older lady approached me.
"Hello, Mrs. Earlton," she smiled at me.
"Ava," I corrected her; how could she call me that?
"Mr. Earlton called earlier and said you were on your way, so I sent the other maids to go grocery shopping. They will be back soon," she explained, and I nodded before she signaled I get in, which I did.
Yesterday I didn't have the time to take a look at his place; it was big and very modern.
"Do you want some coffee, ma'am?" the lady asked, and I nodded before she left for the kitchen.
I retracted my phone and sent a message to Cynthia. [Guess where I am?]
Shortly, her response came in [Paris?].
She was so illusional, I chuckled as her call came in, "I am not in Paris."
"So where are you? Don't tell me you are on Yan Earlton's bed," she teased, and I rolled my eyes.
I am never going to be on his bed, like never.
"Well, I am at his place but not on his bed and definitely not doing what you will soon imagine," I blurted at once before she misunderstood me.
Cynthia laughed before she said, "Be careful, okay? I know how hurt you were because of that man."
True, he had left a scar in me. I couldn't hold myself when I heard he was married and also when the doctor announced that I was pregnant and Yan was nowhere to be found.
I was sure my parents were crying in their graves and very embarrassed by my actions.
"True"
I didn't feel like talking, so I ended the call and was suddenly curious, so I walked up the stairs while scanning around.
Immediately I arrived upstairs, I spotted a big frame... It was my picture; it was a picture from six years ago when I was still in college and still had very long hair.
"Why is it there?" I felt something kick in my stomach; how could he have that picture and also hang at his place?
