Chapter 9 - See You Tonight

Ava's POV:

I tightened my fist so I wouldn't lash out at him. "So you were expecting me?"

I asked, and he nodded and took a look at his watch. "I was expecting you in the next thirty minutes, but you showed up earlier than expected," he chuckled and pulled the door wide open.

"Will you come in, mother to my little sperms?"

What kind of name was that?

I came here for business, so I better ignore all his silly talks, which were meant to irritate me. I walked past him and scanned the place when I noticed it wasn't a normal office but a suite.

We were in the sitting room, and it had a mini kitchen attached to it. There were two other doors, which probably belonged to the bedroom and bathroom.

"Mr. Earlton, I am here to talk about the trending article that I wrote about you." I went straight to the point, and he took a step closer to me.

"What article? The one you tried to cancel my chances of getting married because you were jealous?" He asked with a mocking tone, and my eyes widened in shock.

What did he mean by I was jealous?

"Jealous? Such a stupid word to use in this case, sir," I said, and he nodded, walked to his wine bar, and filled a glass of wine.

"So tell me, writer from EN, what can I do for you?" His tone became serious, as if he were telling me that since I was taking things professionally, he could do the same.

"We wish to apologize about the article and promise never to write about the Earltons, so please don't send a court letter to us." I folded my hand, and he raised a brow.

"A court letter? I can do that? I had no idea. Thanks for the  idea." Yan explained, and I glared at him, how I hated his face.

"It's Friday night; come meet me at the club and we could negotiate a deal," he blurted without an ounce of shame.

"Mr. Earlton," I called with a surprised look.

"Writer from EN," he called as well, and I snorted. Coming here was a waste of time, just as I had envisioned.

I turned to leave when he said, "Do you really want to do that, Ava?"

Was he trying to threaten me? "Yes, I made a mistake to write such an article, but you are supposed to..."

"I am supposed to let you go." He chimed in, and I got speechless; thats not what I was going to say... I didn't expect him to let me off the hook.

Geez, of course I wished that he would let me off the hook.

"I can't make it to the club because I have kids to take care of, and I also need to go to work tomorrow morning," I explained, hoping that he will understand me.

"Your cousin is around, and if you don't show up, then you won't have a job to go back to tomorrow; my assistant will send you the details, Ava. see you tonight."

Why did he want to see me in a club of all places? There were a lot of places where we could discuss a deal; even right now was a very suitable time and space. Why did he want me to meet him at the club?

Now that EN was at his mercy, I had no choice but to comply with his request.

"Okay"

I held the doorknob and pulled it open. Before I left, I took a proper look at him, and his gaze was on me. I wonder how I even got entangled with such a man.

Then I took the elevator, which led downstairs. I spotted Mike beside my car and walked to him.

"Why did you come here?" He asked angrily, and I dropped my shoulders; I was tired.

"I came to see Yan," I replied, and he grabbed my arm angrily.

"Have you lost it? Why will you come to see him?" He scolded me as I tried to free my hand from him; he was hurting me.

"I came because of work."

He was so angry, and I understood him. Yan was his best friend, and he never expected him to impregnante me and suddenly leave. When he found out that we were in a relationship, he lost it and had to lock me up in my bedroom for a week.

And when he found out I was pregnant, he went in search of Yan but returned with bruises.

"Let me go, please." I tried freeing myself from him, but his grip tightened more.

"You..." he was saying when I felt a force pull me from behind and Yan stood before us.

"You are hurting her," Yan said with a frown.

"What? How dare you…" Mike scolded when Yan butted in.

"You are hurting her; I advise you to refrain from doing such in the future"

My eyes widened in shock. How could he be talking that way to my older brother?

"Yan!!" I scolded, but his gaze was locked with Mike.

"She is my sister, and I will do what I wish, you bastard."

"Then I dare you to as much inflict a bruise on her; I will make you wish it had never happened," Yan threatened as I shivered slightly in fear. I rushed and stood before Mike.

"Brother, let's leave," I muttered once I noticed the security guards of WG were already on standby, probably ready to protect their president if an attack happens.

"You have a lot of guts, Yan," Mike pointed a finger at Yan, who looked like he didn't give a damn.

"See you tonight, Ava," Yan said before he turned and left. Oh God, why did he have to say that in front of Mike when he was already this angry?
