I took a look at the well-printed marriage certificate, and honestly, I was tired and didn't have any words to throw at Yan.
"I am tired," I sighed heavily. I was so tired and just wanted to return home to my kids; they must be worried about me.
Yan nodded and placed the document on the table. "I will never hold you against your wish; I had no choice but to stop you from marrying someone else."
Then he took a step forward, and I took an equal step backward. "I will drop you off; after all, we will have plenty of time to chat."
I finally heaved in relief; I just wanted to leave, and about the chat he mentioned, I didn't want to have anything to do with him, and I wish he could understand that.
He signaled for me to walk out of the bedroom, and I quickly did that. He pulled the car door for me, and I got in.
"You know I don't want you to drop me off, but I have no choice, right?" I snorted, and he chuckled.
"You still have such beautiful lips; how I missed the taste,"
I closed my eyes tightly. "Someone kill me right now."
Yan Earlton, such a big name... He was the CEO of Wealth Guard, which was the number one finance and investment company in the country, something I never expected him to be into.
I knew every detail there was to know about Wealth Guard because I was a feature writer. My editor always told me that writing an interesting article about the CEO of WG would make me get a promotion.
But why will I? Why will I want to approach a man who abandoned me when I needed him the most and who only returned to my life today?
"Are you cursing me in your mind right now?" Yan asked. I took a look at him and didn't answer.
"You must hate me," he muttered, but I stayed quiet. Then I noticed he was driving towards my apartment.
I hadn't told him the address. "How did you know the way to my house?" I asked angrily, and he chuckled and kept driving.
"Let's have a meal tomorrow,"
"I am not that free," I scoffed.
"But you were free to attend a wedding," he retorted, and I formed a fist with my hands. "I wasn't attending a wedding; it was my wedding, and you ruined it. You ruined me." I gritted my teeth. I didn't want to lash out at him, as I knew it would just be a waste of time.
The ride was silent till we arrived at my apartment; the lights were still turned on, which meant the kids weren't yet asleep.
I pushed the door, but it was locked. "You lied earlier," he said, and I was confused. What did I lie to him about?
"You said you loved that man you were about to marry, but it's not the truth."
He wished!! I loved Coyle and was going to be with him. He might have ruined my wedding today, but not my relationship with Coyle.
"I was wrong as well." I smiled at him, and his eyes lit up.
"I was wrong to think you matured after these years; you are still the same narcist as six years ago," I blurted, and he nodded in agreement.
"Good night, beauty; I will pick you up tomorrow."
Then the door was unlocked. I walked down and barged it angrily before crouching by the window.
"I won't hesitate to call the cops if you show up at my place tomorrow."
He laughed and left. If he thought I was joking, then I dared him to show up here again.
I hurried inside and scanned the sitting room, just as I had expected. I found my babies sitting on a couch with sad looks.
"Hello," I said excitedly as they ran to me.
"Mother" Lily wrapped her hands around my neck tightly as Ryan hugged me from behind. Fred stood next to me with his usual haughty look.
"Don't you miss me as well?" I asked, and he pointed at the table.
"Coyle kept calling; he said if you get back, then you should call him. Goodnight, mother," Fred explained before he walked upstairs.
I placed a kiss on Lily's cheeks. "I am fine. Have you had your meal?"
"Will you be angry that I had a meal even when you went missing?" She asked, and I chuckled. She was such a foodie and a talkative... People say she took over me.
"It's late now; go to bed, and I will join you later. You too, Ryan."
They both nodded and hurried to their bedrooms. I walked to the fixed phone and dialed Coyle's contact number, and it got connected immediately.
"Coyle, I am fine."
"Baby, I am coming over right now... Where did they take you?"
From his tone, I could tell he was dead worried about me. I sighed heavily and said, "Please don't come over; I am so tired and just need to rest. Let's talk tomorrow. Please let Mike know I am fine."
We talked for a while before I hung up. I was supposed to be on my honeymoon right now, but here I am. Curse you, Yan.

The next morning, I freshened up and made breakfast for my babies. They were already dressed for school and were busy eating while I gathered my files.
"Baby, can you please eat a little faster?" I asked Fred with a pleading look; I was so late for work, and he was eating like a snail.
"I am done," he said. His food wasn't even touched. I frowned at him. "Eat that right now."
He pouted and started eating while I decided to log onto the internet and see what was trending. My editor has been on my tail as she kept insisting I submit an entertainment article.
My honeymoon was going to save me from writing one, but here I was, no honeymoon.
My brows furrowed when I spotted a trending picture of Coyle and a woman. The caption read, "Coyle Watson spotted in a hotel with popular strip dancer Manuella."
What?
