Ava's POV:
The next morning, I sat in my cubicle with a tired look. I still couldn't believe what was happening in my life.
If Fred, who hardly displayed his emotions, could ask an AI if it was wrong to want to bond with his dad, who hasn't been there for them for years. Then I just didn't want to imagine what was going on in Ryan and Lily's minds.
"AVA!!!" Sisa yelled from her office, and I quickly stood up. Everyone was busy on their phones, and I hurried to Sisa's office.
I walked in, and she was pacing with a nervous look; she kept staring at the analysis on the huge screen on the wall.
"You…you called for me," I muttered as I tried to swallow the lumps in my throat.
"Look at that screen."
My gaze moved to the screen, and I noticed an article was being read by millions of people. Did Kim finally reach a million reads on her article in just a day?
"Do you know which article is going so viral?" She asked, and I shrugged my shoulders; I had no idea.
"You don't know? Who was it who wrote the article captioned "Divorcee finds another bride; will this be his last bus stop?"
Oh, no… It was the entertainment article I wrote about Yan... But I expected it to be a low-rated article that he wouldn't even notice, but how could a lot of people be reading it?
"You are so dead, Ava; right now I am on my toes, and I know a court letter will soon arrive from the Earltons... Have you ever seen us publish any article about them? So how could you?" she roared out angrily, and I bowed my head, knowing fully well that I was in the wrong.
"You didn't just write about the Earltons but also the West; the article can't be taken down because a lot of people reposted; now how do we fix this?"
Her gaze was stuck on me; she was expecting a solution from me?
"Maybe send an 'I am sorry' card to them?" I suggested, and she shut her eyes angrily. Oh, Ava, what mess have you gotten yourself into?
"Good idea," she chuckled and walked closer to me.
"Go now to WG and personally drop the card to Yan Earlton; he is the head of the Earlton family, and if he chooses not to sue us, then no one will... So hurry up."
Huh? Why will I go to him?
"That's not part of my job description," I retorted, and her laugh echoed around the room.
"If you don't go now, then you won't even have a job talk less of a description; get out."
I hurried out of her office and held my head frustrated. What did I get myself into?
"Get going, Ava Wood... and you better fix this. I don't care if you get into his bed," Sisa yelled from her office; it was loud enough for the entire building to hear her.
Kim walked to me with a mocking smile. "If you kiss my foot, then I could help you ask Yan Earlton to not sue us, I mean... He will prefer to have a woman like me on his bed than to have... you, a mother of three," she mocked, and I smiled.
"Maybe you could help me please his security man so he could let me in, or is the security man too classy for you?" I snorted and walked past her.
Crazy bitch, who did she think she was?
I got inside my car and drove out. Where the fuck was I going to? I couldn't possibly beg Yan... Maybe I could meet with someone else from WG.
Maybe the head of the management department, but what will I do with him?
My phone rang, and I checked the caller; it was my brother Mike. "Hello, brother?"
"I am at EN, and they said you just left; where did you go?" He asked, and I wondered why he showed up at EN.
"I am on my way to WG; can we talk later? I am already there." I quickly hung up before he started talking about how could step my feet in WG.
My gaze scanned the tall building; what was the possibility of me coming across Yan in this building? Zero percent.
As the CEO, he must be on the first floor, and I don't plan on reaching there; will they even let me get there?
I walked in and moved to the receptionist. "Hello," I greeted, and she nodded.
"I am a writer from EN." I showed her my card, and she confirmed before I went further to say, "I will like to speak with someone about the article on the President of WG. Can you help me?"
She chuckled "You wrote that article? It was so good. I loved how you described our boss as a lady's man, so of course I will help you," she said with a sarcastic tone.
What now? Did I write about her? Why was she being sarcastic right now?
"One minute…"
She picked up the phone and dialed a contact; they talked for a while before she walked back to me.
"Come with me," she said. I followed her as we got to the elevator. I was very vigilant on the button she was going to press.
The highest number was 12, and she didn't press that; she pressed the button labeled 6, so we were probably meeting with one of the higher-up employees.
After a while, the elevator door opened, and we stepped out. We walked down a long and quiet corridor.
"Excuse me, so who am I meeting with?" I asked calmly so I wouldn't offend her.
"Who did you offend with your article?" She fired back a question at me.
"Yan Earlton," I replied, and she smiled as we stood before a door.
"Good, I will leave now," she said, turned around and quickly left.
What? I better leave as well. I was about to leave when the door pulled open and Yan stood there.
He chuckled, "I knew you would show up; come on in beauty."
