"I mean it is tempting, especially if I get to work with you in your sexy supersuit"
He said, scratching his chin, while also feeling the small hairs on it, giving him hope of getting a beard one day.
"That's kind of sexist you know"
"Well you can sue me for being attracted to a ginger haired woman"
"..."
Her brows creased as she looked at him seriously and Kevin could only lift his hands up in surrender, he supposed he had L rizz, which was a shame.
"Alright, I'll be serious. I certainly can be a hero nothing is stopping me from being one and I still believe in basic human morals so I'm sure I'd be good at it"
He explained, he didn't have much against superheroes, in fact superman was his favourite superhero, theres nothing bad about being the shining symbol of hope and a savior to the downtrodden
"Then why?"
"Simply because I don't have the patience"
He saw the look of confusion on her face as she heard his words so he elaborated further.
"I don't have the patience to save someone and then a week later have that same person curse my name because my fight with a villain destroyed their house or car or whatever"
"OK but–"
She was about to counter his argument however Kevin was quick to cut her off, ending her sentence before she could even begin.
"Don't you dare you tell me it's part of the job, if I save your life I expect you to be grateful even if your car got destroyed"
Kevin stated and Eve frowned in disapproval and leaned forward preparing to speak, she knew that getting praise isn't what being a hero is all about, so she believed that Kevin was misguided in his thinking.
"Being hero is not about getting recognition or praise, It about doing what's right, even when what's right is difficult or goes against what you want"
She explained and Kevin suppressed an eyeroll, he didn't particularly care about what she had to say about being Hero.
"You know the Immortal gave the exact same speech during the formation of the guardians right?"
"Yeah so? It's a good speech"
She said leaning back on the wall again and gave him a look with a raised eyebrow. A good speech is always a good speech so it was always worth repeating.
"Not when you're trying to convince someone of being a hero. Be original Eve, come on."
He said with a shrug of his shoulders, if she wanted to be Naruto she needed to be much more convincing than this
'Or have a rasengan and clone herself'
He thought to himself.
"It convinced me and a lot of others before me"
"Look Evelyn, it's not like I don't get the speech I really do, I'm not the type to stand for Bullshit when I deserve something else"
"You know that's not what Eve is short for"
Eve informed him as a bit of annoyance showed on her face and Kevin gave her a smirk.
"Yes I do"
She stared at him and he stared back and Eve simply let out a sigh, they've never spoken for this long before so she assumed it must be one of his annoying habits. So she decided to get back on topic.
"Come on Kevin, it will be better for you and besides you can't honestly tell me being a criminal is the better option, you'll get caught someday"
She explained and Kevin agreed with her, being a villain was not something that guaranteed anything, the people you work with can betray or sell you out anytime, not to mention you make enemies essentially everywhere you go, everyone is as selfish as you are.
At least by being a hero you can trust that your coworkers will do the right thing and you can make friends that are less likely to betray you.
"Look Eve how about we put a pin on this and reschedule, talk about it another time perhaps over lunch or dinner, whichever you prefer"
He said as he began subtly mewing and showcased his excellent jawline, if he had L spoken rizz then he'd rizz her up using his looks, using his unspoken rizz.
"Are you asking me out?"
"Yes and No"
"What do you mean?"
"I mean yes, in the sense I'm definitely asking you out and no in the sense I'm not, not asking you out"
"So yes?"
"Yes"
She rolled her eyes at his antics however she decided to respond to his question.
"Then fine, I get to pick the place though"
"fair enough.
…
While Kevin was speaking to Eve, somewhere else, specifically in Machine-head's office. The 1% cyborg was staring at his new desk, made from very expensive wood. He ran his hand over the desk feeling its smoothness and vanish.
"Now that's good wood"
He said, in a more sensual voice than it was necessary, however as he did this, his subordinate teleported in silently, Isotope stood there watching his boss being turned on by hard wood.
'I can't tell if that's gay or not'
The teleporter thought to himself as he watched his boss hum as if touching the hard wood brought him pleasure.
"What is it? Isotope"
Machine head asks, seemingly unbothered, that he was caught basically beating his meat to literal wood.
"The bounty is online, and Kill Cannon was the first to attack him, although it might take a while before the real heavy hitters start participating"
He explained, Machine-head hummed in response, his hand still feeling the wood.
"That's good"
"But boss, isn't it a little counter intuitive, after all, he's working with us"
"True, however he's also working with other people and if there's one thing I hate, its not having the monopoly on a market"
Machine-head answered, doing business with the kid was great and all but the kid's value is too much to just let him be an independent or freelancer.
"He'll either have to work for me or have an unending bounty on his head or to put it bluntly, either I have him or nobody can have him."
The cyborg stated, his distorted voice making his words less threatening than they should be. Machine head didn't become the underworld King pin of the entire city of Chicago and more by listening to the demands of those lesser to him, he became the underworld King pin by killing, blackmailing, threatening and being overall ruthless.
He wasn't about to let some wannabe gangster black kid start calling the shots, not when he's around.
"What happens if he comes after you?"
"Oh he'll come after me and I'll be ready, the world is vast Isotope, no matter how powerful you are there's someone else more powerful than you and money allows me to employ those people even if it's for a limited amount of time"
The machine headed human explained, he relaxed on his chair and swivelled around and looked out the window.
The building wasn't located in an area with a beautiful skyline however regardless of that Machine-head appreciated the skyline before him nonetheless, it was a type of appreciation one gives to something they own and for the most part Chicago belonged to him.
"Can't say I disagree with you, boss"
"Of course you can't, I don't pay you to disagree with me, anyway the kid will probably try and talk to me before any attempts to kill me and that's when I'll have him in the palm of my hands."
The villain laughed after having said all that, everything eventually belonged to him it was only ever a matter of time.
