My eyebrows nearly flew off my head as I took a tiny bite of the sandwich, multiple flavors and textures invading my mouth. The meat was flavorful and tender, while the bread was soft yet crispy on the edges.
I glanced at Alexei to see him intently staring at me with a smirk on his face. I quickly rearranged my expression, not wanting to give him the satisfaction of knowing he'd impressed me.
"Not bad," I hummed, placing the sandwich back on the plate. He nodded in reply before turning his back to me, busying himself with the cooker. I took that as an opportunity to gobble the rest of the sandwich down.
"Why does a soldier know how to cook?" I asked between mouthfuls, taking a sip of the juice beside me.
