Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: Magic at the paws of a rat

My egg feasting session this time was short, I just need enough to fix my wounds and for that I only needed two eggs. Those two eggs combined were hevier than me so it still took several hours. My belly filled I climbed up the roof, no cat will be disturbing my sleep, I quite sure I only smell one cat in the farm and there shouldn't another.

I searched for a place I wouldn't easily be seen, preferably one I wouldn't fall from in my sleep as well. It was a hard find and the place I did find was not quite the one I had in mind but it should be good enough.

Around six hours had passed since the death of the cat and my mana is still at zero. I better wake up with my mp full or I will go absolutely bonkers on this farm.

With that wishful thinking I pull up the evolution menu. There was a heal option here which cost 3 evolution points. Quite curious, do the cost goes up as the severity of the wound increases? I currently had six from the egg so instead of the heal option I choose the upgraded claws. The body part that is upgraded heal if my theory is right, it will cost me all the points I had but it will be worth it.

My evolution this time did not last long, it wasn't a full body one afterall. I woke up form the evolutionary slumber before the sun rises and I did my evolution during midnight.

I looked at my evolved arms and it was good as new, it was better than new. Sharper claws will do me great, even if I couldn't really use them from my initial intended purpose of making weapons, and the increase arm strength is always a plus.

Yesh! Finally MANA! I know mana don't recover easily but I can't wait to use it. I'll leave my skill and ability points for later, now we see what I can do with what I already have.

I was at the roof of the chicken coop, from there I could see the chickens were still sleeping. I pounced at one much like I had with my first kill, offcourse I'm not using some primitive bone weapons like before. I don't need some makeshift weapon for my body is the ultimate weapon.

I landed on one of the chicken's neck, the force form the impact waking it up, I acted before it could realise what had happened. Sukiru Bitto! I screemed in my mind as my fangs glowed and I took a bite of its head. I could feel the mana flowing into my fangs, it was somewhat warm. The bite went through, a portion of the chicken's head gone, where there was supposed to be skin and some small feathers, there was a hole a cm deep. Unfortunately for the chicken the hole replaced parts of its brain as well.

Its muscles spasmed, it tried to run but the lost of the portion of its brain make it impossible. Its legs were moving in a running motion, its wings flapping uselessly. Blood and brain matter poured out from the hole in its head, it was dying but it was not dead yet.

That was one hell of a bite! A well placed bite could have potentially one shot the cat. Speaking of the cat why didn't it use any skill in our fight. Did it use all of its mana up and couldn't evolve to regain it again? If that is the case and mana could be recovered only during evolution it would suck hard.

The skill drained all of my mana in one go, too bad I'll only be able to use one spell per evolution. The chicken dropped dead by this point, and I went and retrieve its head. I couldn't break the neck bone but I didn't needed to, I just had to cut the tissues connecting the joints and the head comes off easily, my arms were stronger and claws were sharper so I had no problem with the dicapitation. Using my tail to wrapped the chicken head I managed to climbed to the roof and eat the chicken head at the place I was sleeping earlier.

While I was eating the head, a farmer came and saw the dicapitated chicken, was spooked and called others to see if they were also seeing the atrocities I had committed. I owe this farmers alot. Don't worry my guys I'll definitely pay my debts.

Don't know if meat is more nutritious than egg but I'm getting alot of evo points from it.

[Evolution points: 11]

A whopping eleven points form just the head. A full chicken would be in the tripple digits!

A few moments after I had finish my meal, someone traced the chicken blood to my location and I leave the eaten head which was mostly just parts of the skull at that point, jumped to the floor and disappeared before I was seen. Wouldn't want to tarnish the rat kind but being caught here like this. I need to leave them in the dark for now.

Speaking of rat kind, when is the invasion comming? It was likely to be a few months, but it was hard to tell. The requirements were numbers and not date after all, so it could be a lot sooner or later. An army of rats that numbers in the hundred of thousands would be quite a sight to see.

This farm here is pretty far from the mines the big rat was in but no way would the farm be left alone. What am I to do. I don't want to get in the way of my kind because of the guilt I felt for what I had done to the farm. I feel like I owe them, I tried to justify my killings as a necessity, a rat doing rat things to survive but if I just leave them here to die from the rat invasion after all I took from them, I don't think I'll be able to live with a clear conscience.

I'll have to stop the invasion. If the invasion had any sort of success the surface world will see rat-kind as an enemy, a monster to be exterminated. My chance of befriending anyone form a sapient race will be greatly diminished.

Don't worry little girl whose cat I killed, I'll be the only rat terrorizing this farm.
