Chapter Forty-One:
Percy's POV
My family's demand had been something as crazy as giving Hardin Pack 25% of our profit monthly. As if they needed salaries to let us stay as pack members.
We had suffered for our refusal: my father's death, my mother's allegations, but ultimately, we survived.
Third's situation had been marrying the Alpha's crippled daughter. While that wasn't much of an issue on its own, he had to forgo taking over the Beta position after his father.
In other words, becoming the Alpha's daughter's bodyguard with no other benefit or position to boast of.
Third was a proud young man despite how he seemed, so it wasn't odd that he refused. However, he hadn't left unscathed, as he had to leave with his younger sister, who got killed mysteriously some weeks afterward.
The Lennon Group had to protect him, or he'd have been killed. I bet hearing their name would only make him bitter.
