Once the cab moved away from the city, Alex sighed. It hit him that he might have overdone it in this situation—after all, Carl and those guys weren't professionals. He just acted the same as he would if he encountered those types before.
It didn't matter now that he had calmed down. He pressed his shoulder. Just a little tap made him seethe in pain. He even stretched his t-shirt to see that his entire right shoulder was completely bruised.
The cab driver noticed this and asked with concern, "Sir, what happened?"
Alex covered his shoulder and said, "Nah, nothing. I just fell down the stairs."
The driver said, "Should I take you to a nearby hospital?"
Alex shook his head. "Nah, it's not that serious. Just buy some ice for me from the upcoming general store."
The driver looked at the map and nodded. "Don't worry, sir, the next shop is just 2 km away."
Alex nodded. "Okay."
