Chapter 13 - The Begging

Five years later…

Valenthia barged into Thorin's room while he was sleeping peacefully.

"Thorin!" shouted Valenthia.

"Who? What?" Thorin woke up with a jerk and his legs were on the floor in an instant. It took him a minute to understand who was standing before him. "Valenthia? What?"

"HOW DO YOU CONTACT HER?" she shouted.

"Who?" asked Thorin.

"Your sister, who else?" she threw her purse at him which hit his head.

"Hey!" he complained. "I am still not awake. Don't hit me."

"Come here!" she ran to him and made him sit back on the bed. She didn't care about her purse which lay on the floor. She sat beside Thorin and made him look into her eyes. "Tell me how to contact her. Where is she? What has she been doing for these past five years?"

"Why do you think I know the answer to these questions?" asked Thorin rubbing his eyes and yawning.

"Because you cannot live for a single day without eating her brain. I know you talk to her. How? I know she is so far away that mind-link does not work. Where is she? Why did she go away? Did she know what has been happening in our packs all these years?" asked Valenthia.

"Why do you want her to know about that? It is not her responsibility to make adults act like adults. If they want to fight amongst themselves, she cannot do anything about that," snapped Thorin.

"Okay, let's forget about that. Just tell me how I can bring her back," said Valenthia.

"Why do you want her to be back?" asked Thorin.

"Because you idiot, I am getting married to my mate and I want my best friend to be my maid of honour," said Valenthia.

"You know after her heartbreak she went away, and she is not coming back," said Thorin.

"But why? Why did she reject Aaron? They loved each other. What happened between them? They were true mates. They were best of friends. Why? Why? Why won't she come back? I need to talk to her," snapped Valenthia.

"I don't know about that," lied Thorin. He could not make eye contact with Valenthia.

"You are lying, Thorin. I will hit you if you don't tell me," said Valenthia.

"You just hit me with your purse. My head is still not working properly," said Thorin.

"Fine! I will ask Bardolph to make you the best man. Now tell me how to contact her," bribed Valenthia.

"Really? You mean it? Wait! I am the only male he can ask to be the best man. You, sly fox!" said Thorin.

"There is Aaron."

"He is getting married on the same day and you really think the Lycan prince would say yes to mere werewolf. He is an arrogant bastard now," said Thorin.

"After Edwina broke his heart," added Valenthia.

"Don't say that. He must have deserved it. Edwina never did anything without any reason. She is the most intelligent among us."

"I know and she loved you the most. So tell me how do you guys keep in contact," said Valenthia.

"I don't keep in contact. She never even wrote once."

"And you never tried to find her out! Liar!" shouted Valenthia. "I want my best friend to be at my wedding and it's high time that she came back. Tell me, tell me," Valenthia started raining punches on Thorin.

"I don't know, I swear I don't know," cried Thorin.

"Liar! You are lying! Tell me or I will ask Bardolph to hit you. He will beat you into a pulp," threatened Valenthia.

"A minute ago, I was the best man and now I am being beaten into a pulp. What is wrong with you?" asked Thorin.

"Tell me how to bring her back, I beg you," Valenthia stopped hitting him and stood up from the bed. She knelt down before Thorin and joined her hands. "I beg you, please tell me, I don't want to get married if she won't be here. We did everything together. I was there in her wolf ceremony, she was there in mine and now I am getting married and mated, she must be there. Please, Thorin."

Seeing her pleading, Thorin melted. He was the youngest of the pups and no one respected him at all. But then and there, Valenthia was begging him.

"But she won't come," said Thorin.

"What? Why?"

"The same day that arrogant bastard Aaron is getting married too."

"No, we have the same engagement day, not the marriage day. I am getting married before him. She can attend my marriage and leave, she does not have to stay here for his wedding. Tell me how to contact her," said Valenthia.

"I am telling you this because you are pleading. I don't want to see you like this. You are the only one who treats me well," said Thorin and went to his closet. He spent a good amount inside and then brought back a shiny piece of metal with him.

"What is that?" asked Valenthia, intrigued and curious.

"Well, this is what humans call a phone," explained Thorin.

"A phone? Edwina has a phone? How do you have a phone? Where do you get it? How does it work? What do you do with it?" Valenthia had so many questions.

"It works just as other technologies work with electricity. We wolves don't need any device as we have our mind-link but she is so far away that we need technology to talk to her. After she ran away she sent a phone through the mail and then we started talking," said Thorin.

"YOU HAVE BEEN IN CONTACT SINCE THE BEGINNING?" she picked up the pillow and started throwing it at him.

"Stop! Stop it!" snapped Thorin.

"You idiot! I have been asking and asking about her and you had the means to contact her and never told us," snapped Valenthia.

"She made me promise never to tell anyone," replied Thorin.

"Does your parents…?" asked Valenthia.

"Yeah, they know. They too talk with her. You are right the cold war between the packs started after she went away and then the rogues started attacking. Are you sure that if she comes back everything will be back to as it was?"

"That's what elders say, Thorin. They say she was the lucky charm and we lost her. Maybe after she comes back everything goes back to normal," sighed Valenthia.

"Then may your marriage be the push that she needs. Talk to her." He presented the phone to her.

"I don't know how to use it," said Valenthia.

"Oh sorry!" Thorin dialled the only number in his phone and gave it to Valenthia.

"Hello!" a voice came out of the phone. Valenthia almost dropped the phone in shock.
