Chereads / Moonlit Betrayal: A Luna’s Choice / Chapter 18 - The Future King

Chapter 18 - The Future King

"That is such happy news. Our kids are getting married," laughed Rodion Sablebite.

"Thank you for choosing me, Aaron," smiled Lorelei.

"Hmm," growled Aaron. Both Sablebite and Silverman families were sitting together discussing about the upcoming mating rituals.

"Let's have the engagement on New Moon Day and then a wedding on Full Moon Day," said Morgana.

"That is a good idea," said Consuela.

"I don't want to get married the same day as Valenthia. I want to be the only bride that day," pouted Lorelei.

"Don't worry dear, Valenthia will get married after you. You guys just have the engagement day as the same. All the packs pleaded with us as they would have to divide their time attending both ceremonies and it would be a waste of time," said Morgana.

"Then it is alright. My wedding day will be special," Lorelei clapped with happiness. "Isn't it good news, Aaron?"

"Hmm," replied Aaron. He didn't want to talk. He didn't have any interest in marriage but the cold war between the packs was at its peak. They needed a good leader, and they always were of the opinion that Alder was not a good king. All voted Aaron to be their future king and his future was set. He had to marry Lorelei. There was no other option. "If you guys are done, may I retire to my room?" like a good boy, he asked for permission.

"Don't you want to look at the options for dresses Lorelei is wearing?" asked Consuela.

"That is her choice, Luna, Consuela. What will I say about that?" he faked a smile.

"Fine! You can leave, Go!" snapped Alder. "Today kids have no interest in wedding planning. We were so eager to decide every aspect, right Morg?"

"Yes, dear! Not everyone is like you," she kissed his cheeks. Aaron rolled his eyes and sighed loudly.

"What? Can't we show adoration in front of you?" taunted Alder.

"I am going, bye," said Aaron and left. He walked all the way up to his room.

"What will I do with you guys? Let me ask Aaron about his choice. You, elders, can talk amongst yourselves," smiled Lorelei with shyness and ran towards Aaron's room with a handful of magazines in her arms.

"Aaron! Aaron! Open the door!" she shouted but Aaron didn't reply. He kept quiet. She caught every magazine that was slipping from her hands and pushed the door open with her derriere. "Ahhh… I called you. Why didn't you open the door? Didn't you hear me?"

"I heard you loud and clear. Can you not read the silence in the room? I don't want you here. What are you doing here?" asked Aaron.

"I want to show you the ideas for my dress, for your dress, for centrepieces for our tables, wedding decoration and so many things," replied Lorelei, excitedly.

"Who told you I am remotely interested in that?" snapped Aaron.

"Come on! We are getting married, you have to show some interest. You will mark me. I have to look good for the marking ceremony. Tell me what I should wear," smiled Lorelei.

"Whatever you want, I don't care," snapped Aaron.

"Sweetie!" Lorelei went close to him and sat next to him. She linked her hands with him and placed her head on his shoulder. "Work with me. Please choose one," she lifted her head and moved her lips to kiss his cheeks.

He stood up with a jerk resulting in Lorelei falling to the floor due to the jerk. "Never! Never touch me with your filthy hands," chided Aaron.

"But we are getting married," sobbed Lorelei.

"You very well know why I am getting married. All the packs are demanding a new king and a king can never be a ruler until and unless they have their Luna with them. My Luna will only be Edwina, you are her replacement. Don't even forget your position. I am marrying to calm every pack down and I will break the marital bond after everything quiets down. You will not touch me, not even look at me. Don't even try to invade my space. It will not be good for you," snapped Aaron.

"You dare!!!" shouted Lorelei. "Don't take her name, that filthy orphan! You are comparing her to me? I know why you are marrying me. Just because she rejected you that does not mean I want her position. I am no one's second position. I will be your Luna and you will let me touch you. You will mark me. Otherwise, no one will accept you as their king. Even if you are a Lycan, packs will choose a king by voting. Lycans will become obsolete. You think you can order me around, you don't know me, Lycan Prince. I will make your life a hell."

"My life is already hell. Get out!" barked Aaron. But Lorelei didn't move. "You think you know how to fight, you can fight with me, I will rip you apart, Lorelei." He shouted and threw all the magazines in the air.

Frightened, Lorelei ran out of the room but gritted her teeth and screamed, "that mudwolfe! She is destroying my life even though she is not here. I will kill her. I will kill her!!"

Aaron was fuming with anger when Bardolph's mind connected to him. "What?" he snapped at Bardolph

"Who irked you?" asked Bardolph.

"Nothing! What happened?" asked Aaron.

"Let it go. It's better that I don't tell you," said Bardolph.

"Just blurt it out, Bard!" said Aaron.

"Well, Valen was talking to me, and she somehow let it slip that she talked to Ed," informed Bardolph.

"WHAT!!!!??? How? When? Where? Where is she? How is she?" Aaron rained questions at Bardolph.

"I know nothing about that. Not even Valen knows. All I know is that she promised that she would come to the wedding," notified Bardolph.

"Are you sure?" asked Aaron.

"That is what I heard."

"Wait! How did she talk to her? We cannot mind-link with her," said Aaron.

"That I don't know. She didn't tell me about that," said Bardolph.

On the day of his engagement, he kept staring at the door but no one came. And suddenly the door opened and a gorgeous girl in red appeared. He could not avert his eyes away from her face and that dress and that trail. Every part of Edwina was shimmering. He could not control his fingers and the ring ran away from him. Just like his heart, the ring stopped at Edwina's feet.
