T/W: Foul Language
"Come on…. pick up… pick up," Penn grumbled, who had put his phone on speaker phone while he rode through the sparse trees of the mountaintop. He could hear the cracking and sparking following close behind.
Nowhere had Penn ever heard about gates being able to move. But there was also the incident where multiple gates opened up, sucking in civilians into its domain. So many strange things kept happening around him that had never happened before since the gates first spawned. That included his awakening as both a Guide and an Esper.
"... Please leave a message after the beep-"
"Shit, Nathan. Pick up," Penn yelled in frustration, leaning forward to center his weight over the saddle while dialing again as the horse continued its gallop, heaving. "I haven't even been taught how to use Force yet, you bastard!"
"What did I do to deserve to be called a bastard…?"
