Jared glanced at me, gave a casual smile, and then turned to the paparazzi, saying, "That's none of your business."
Seriously? That was far from the answer I wanted. Why couldn't he just say, "No, she's not my girlfriend"? How hard could that be?
The paparazzi didn't miss a beat, snapping more pictures and throwing out questions like, "How did you two lovebirds meet?" and "She's so beautiful, is she a model?" My heart pounded as I bolted from the restaurant, making a beeline for the kitchen.
As soon as I got there, the other waitresses stared at me like I had transformed into someone completely different.
A few minutes later, one of my coworkers approached with wide eyes and said, "Wow! Girl, you're trending."
