Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Academy

A week has passed and I can somehow control the mana that is circulating inside my body, and drawing it out to cover my whole body with it. Mana and Aura, are used as a form of power up in this world. Just like countless of novels and manwha have explained, mana is the fuel of both Aura and Magic. If you have an abundant capacity of mana, then your Aura and Magic will be strong.

Although I was transported here in this world, I had expected that my mana pool will be large. In reality, it was small, like a puddle. It took me a week just to feel my own mana, and a month to control it. It was disappointing, but Alfiva remarked that only a few people can use their mana and control it by will. I was happy to hear that, I am part of the population where they can control their own mana.

Its been five months since I've been transported into this world, and various things have happened to me the last few months. Thanks to Alfiva's help and also Flin, I am now able to use magic without any incantation. Thanks to my basic understanding of chemistry, and also novels and manwha's, I was able to use magic without incantation. Alfiva was shocked at my development, she told that even high elves struggle to use chantless incantations ons multiple times. She herself, also struggles using chantless incantations multiple times.

"You have developed faster than I would have expected, a normal person would take years of dedication just to use chantless incatations"

"I am flattered, but without your help I would not have achieved such things"

"That is not true at all, I merely taught you the basics of controlling your own mana, but you have figured out a way to use chantless incantation in just five months, you are a prodigy"

"Thats a little too much, even if I am able to use chantless incantation, I am still a hatchling compared to you"

".....yeah, you're right"

After we finished training, and the sun was setting. We figured to wrap things up, and eat dinner.

"Are you interested in joining a magic academy?"

"Is the magic academy where nobles and talented magicians attend?"

She nodded

"With your talent, you can easily dominate the students inside the academy"

"Hmmm...I prefer not to draw any attention towards myself, but if I can learn and meet powerful people, then maybe I will join"

She smiled at my answer

"Okay, then you're leaving tomorrow for the academy"

"Wait! I do not know where the academy is, and also noble's usually discriminate people without titles-

"Do not worry about that, the academy accepts both the commoner and nobles. Its the talent that they are looking for, not status"

Is that so? I thought to myself. In this world, status can gain you an advantage when it comes to connections. I suppose you already know that, well I am gonna let you fill in the blanks yourself.

The next morning arrived, since I woke up earlier than usual. I decided to burn some excess energy, and meditate after.

It was cold, the wind. Since the sun has yet to rise, it was difficult to see the environment. Thankfully, using my senses other than sight. I managed to navigate through the forest, and reached a cliff where I mostly spend my time meditating. After meditating for an hour, the sun has risen and it was time for me to head back to the cabin.

As I was jogging with a moderate pace heading towards the cabin, I noticed something was staring at me. Ignoring it, I continued to jog and then an arrow almost hit my foot. I stopped and quickly analyze the area, I sensed a heartbeat towards the east. Picking up a small rock, I quickly threw it at the direction where I sensed a heartbeat.

Before the rock hit the target, it vanished and then suddenly a knife was at my neck. I tried to move, but I suddenly got immobilize and was unable to move.

"You got the reflexes, but lack the speed to react to sudden attacks, just like this"

The unknown attacker walked in front of me, and it turns out to be a another elf. His name was Aegnor, he is currently almost the same age as Alfiva, and he has a desire to fight someone stronger than him.

"But, you did react quickly to avoid my arrow, and also was able to pin point where I was. So you passed"

He smiked and looked at me, expecting to say something. He then realized that I was not able to move, and quickly apologized and then after a second I was able to move again.

"What was that?"

"Oh, just a simple immobilizing spell. Why? You interested on learning it?"

"Well, if possible"

"Sucks to be you, it is a spell that needs to be inherited"

"So you mean I can't learn it?"

He nodded

"Exactly, well enough talking. Lets head back to Alf, since she did make a request on accompanying you to the academy"

"Oh, is that so....."

Once we arrived at the cabin, Flin has already prepared us breakfast and Alfiva was sitting at the couch reading a book.

"So, how is he?"

"He is not bad, but if what you said was true. That he only started training a few months ago, then I can say he has the potential to be an excellent student in the academy"

Alfiva has this grin on her face, when Aegnor explained what happened earlier. I was only listening to them as they were talking, after we had eaten breakfast.

Flin gave me a bag filled with clothes and some coins, I looked at Alfiva and thanked her for the gift.

"Its enough for you to enjoy a life without any struggle, i forgot he had not introduced himself to you right?"

She was talking about Aegnor, while I already know his name. I did not want to them be suspicious of me, so I pretended not to know.

"I am Aegnor, I will be your guide as of now. Nice to meet you"

We shooked hands, and after I expressed my gratitude to both Alfiva and Flin. We departed and was heading to the magic academy, located at kingdom Erend. Which is roughly 200 km away, I was figuring out how we can close that distance that far away, since Alfiva had said that the academy will start tomorrow. Closing that distance in a day is nearly impossible. When I was figuring out how. I noticed that Aegnor was looking at me, I asked him what, which he replied with.

"You seem to be troubled with something, what is it?"

"Oh, nothing. I was just figuring out how we can reach Erend in a day.

"Oh, right. You just recently arrived here in our world, well to answer that question. Teleportation that is, is that not obvious?"

"If you think about it, yeah it is obvious. I am still new to this world, so I did not take in account that teleportation is possible"

"That is a natural thought, so I cannot blame you"

When we were walking, I seem to notice that we were heading towards a mountain wall, it was a dead end. Perhaps its a illusion?, we stopped at the mountain wall and then Aegnor chanted a spell, which resulted the wall to open and there was a hallway big enough to fit two people.

When we walked inside, the wall began to close behind us. The inside was dark and no sign of light can be found, Aegnor then chanted a light spell that acted as a torch. With that, we can see though the dark and we began walking.

After a few minutes, we reached a room where there was a circle platform and a pedestal at the center of the platform. Aegnor lit up the room, with the light spell he chanted ealrier.

"I want you to step onto this tile right here"

He pointed at a tile that was in front of the pedestal, I walked and stood over on the tile just like he ordered. Standing over the pedestal, Aegnor began to pour mana into the pedestal and it began to glow a blue light. Chanting a spell, and then said the words at the end of the encantation "take us to the land Erend"

My body began to crumble and Aegnor also, then a flash of light blinded my eyes and just like that we were inside a church, surrounded by priest welcoming our arrival.

"Sir Aegnor, is this the person that will attending the academy?"

The person asking was a man with long hair, a scar on his face and dressed up as a knight.

"Yes, this is Ryu. The one Alf recommended to attend the academy"

He bowed towards me, greeting me and welcoming my arrival. His name is Charles D. Anton, a royal knight serving the kingdom for almost a decade, and also a professor at the magic academy.

"I will be the one accompanying you now, follow me so you can rest at your dorm"

Aegnor pushed me lightly, and Charles began to walk, following him. When we walked out the church, there were a lot of beautiful architecture surrounding the place. A garden filled with lively and colorful flowers, priests walking in groups and students from the academy practicing magic.

When we were walking, I noticed that some students were looking and kept taking small glances at me. It must be because I am new here in the academy, which can explain their behavior.

"This is your dorm room, you will be spending four years in this room, so please take good care of it. As you know, the academy will start tomorrow, so at exactly 9 am you will go to the testing ground, so you can be tested if you are qualified to attend the academy, and after your evaluation they will decide what class you will be, so be ready, understood?"

I nodded, and thanked him for notifying me on what will happen tomorrow. Spending my spare time inside my dorm room, I was looking outside the window. There were a lot of students, and one student caught my attention. It was Elizabeth A. Klimentine, she came from the Klimentine lineage and has exceptional status here inside the academy.

Nicknamed the "Thorn Princess", I wonder why she is called "Thorn Princess"?. That is all that is written on her information, as I was watching her. I also noticed that there were guards following her, five meters behind. They were all royal knights, seems that she is not only a noble, but also protected and valued here in the academy.

"I wonder what magic she uses?"

Moving on, I got bored watching outside the window. I decided to go to the library, so that I can

read information about the academy. Since, Alfiva did not tell me any information about this academy's history.

Walking out my room, there were a lot of students wearing high-quality clothes. Especially William B. Maverick, the son of Thomas Maverick, he has a bad personality where he picks on people lower than him. Using his fathers influence and wealth, he had achieve a talent on manipulating people at a very young age. That was all of the information written on him, judging from the information. It'd be wise to avoid him and not cross paths with him, well since I am just a nobody in this academy, nobody would pay attention to me.

Anyway, I finally found the library. It had a giant wooden door, with a dragon carving design on the surface. As I opened the door, I was surprised by how big the library was. It was multiple times bigger than my dorm room, and there were a lot of books being organized on the bookshelf. I did not know where to begin, so I decided to ask someone. I noticed a person sitting on a table, her name is Hermione K. Liren and has a cheerful personality and willing to help people when being asked.

Walking towards her, I asked her.

"Excuse me, can you please tell me where to find a book that covers the history of the academy?"

"Uh, yes. Its on the second floor, after reaching the second floor take a right turn and you will see a sign that says history"

"Oh, i see. Thank you"

"You're welcome"

After thanking her, I proceed to walk towards the second floor and after following her direction, I managed to find several books that tells the history of the academy. After grabbing a handful of books, I walked towards a table where no one was sitting, placing the books onto the table I began reading.
