Its been a month since I've attended the academy, apparently Alfiva sent me a letter asking on how I am doing inside the academy, also she was confused on why I was in F class, the lowest class inside the academy.
Replying to her letter, I simply wrote that I want to live a simple life inside the academy without being surrounded by attention.
Although that was what I wanted, but the world had other plans. I was now in a duel with one of the 6 talents inside the academy, Bale D. Asanine. I did not know what happened, and why he wanted a duel with me.
When I tried to ask him the reason, he simply smiled and told me to go to the training ground.
Bale D. Asamine, the 2nd son of Matthew Asamine. A person with the ability to sense someone strong with his instinct, and has a strong desire to fight someone stronger than him.
If that is true, then he knows that I am hiding my abilities. Following him to the training ground, I was shocked to see that all of the 6 talent were present inside the training ground.
"What the hell?"
I said to myself internally, I did not want to be there since if I display my powers, then it would disrupt my peaceful life inside the academy.
Bale walked inside of the ring, grabbing a wooden from the rack and he threw one at me in the process.
"Why are you all here? Is this kind of ritual where you beat the weakest student inside of the academy?"
They all started laughing and acted as what I had said was a good joke.
"Weakest? No, no, no, no, we all know that you are hiding your abilities Ryu, no need to act like you are weak"
Aljin K. Potur, the eldest son of Sam Potur. Said that with confidence, and all of them including William Maverick agreed.
"How can you be so sure? Is there any evidence that something like that is true?"
Jasmine X. Quincy, the only child of the Quincy family stepped inside the ring and walked in front of me.
"Mana is something that is present inside all of living and non living creatures on the world, there is not a single person that has no mana, but yet even if I try to sense mana inside your body, I cannot see nor sense it"
Backing away a little bit, since she was too close, I asked her.
"So? That does not mean that I am strong"
"You are not that good at hiding, if you wanted to conceal your mana, it would be best if you did not conceal all of the mana circulating inside your body"
I thought they are just arrogant and stupid, I did not expect them to catch on so quickly. Maintaining my composure, I wanted to get away from here, since I did not want to deal with all of them.
"Okay, fine you caught me. If all of you wanted to expose me, then you all won. If thats what you all want to know, then there is no need for me to accept the duel, I am leaving"
As I was trying to turn my back, Aljin suddenly held a knife on my stomach.
"Surprised on how I got all the way here?"
I just looked at his smug expression on his face, while felling the sharp point of the knife that he was holding.
"I think it would be wise for you to stay"
Sensing all of the mana they had, all of them are on the peak of four stars, just a little bit more and they would reach 5 stars, except Jasmine. She already reached 5 stars, and is currently the most powerful in all of the 6 talents, in terms of magic capabilities.
While I can handle one of them, it will be impossible to handle all of them if they were to gang up on me.
Sighing in frustration in the situation that I am in, I had no other choice but to obey him.
"Fine"
Knowing that I am cooperating, Aljin smiled and placed back the knife on its sheath.
I was now surrounded by people that is trying to fight me, with the intention on testing how strong I really am. Judging by their bloodlust, William is the only one who wants to kill me, pretty obvious since he hated me during the evaluation.
With no other way out, facing them will be the best option. Since, they are nobles. If I decline right now, they would use their influence to make it difficult for me to live peacefully.
"Lets just make this quick, I do not like conventions"
Bale smiled and told Aljin and Jasmine to get back to their sits, since both of them are interrupting his duel.
"What are the rules? The first to make the opponent surrender wins or is it something else?"
He smiled and immediately lunged at me instead of talking.
Blocking his sword attack, I then threw a counter attack on him, he blocked it he then swung his sword coating it with aura as a counter attack to my counter attack.
Dodging it, I kicked him on the chest to create a distance, he grabbed my leg with his left hand while he sweeped my other leg with his leg. I dropped down to the floor, pointing his sword towards me, I clearly see that he was disappointed since he wanted an exciting fight.
"You are barely trying, you did not even had the intention on winning this duel"
He said with a disappointed tone. Well, he is right with that remark. Standing up, I stretched both of my hands and took a deep breath in. Noticing that I wanted to fight seriously now, Bale anticipating my attack. He put on a stance, and was ready block an attack from me.
Since he wanted to fight me seriously, I'll show him a bit of seriousness.
Gathering my mana onto my sword, it glowed turning it into aura. Putting my weight onto my legs, I lunged at him, swinging my sword towards him. He did not expect that I was able to produce quite a terrifying attack, he tried to dodge my attack instead of blocking.
But, he was too late I already connected the sword, and it hit him on his chest. Creating a shallow wound on his chest, taking such a strong attack, he could not take it and immediately collapsed onto the ground unconscious, thus ending the duel.
I threw the wooden sword beside the unconscious Bale, asking him.
"There? Are you happy?"
After that, all of them had this shocked expression on their faces. I faced them, and asked.
"Are you satisfied? If so, then I'll take my leave"
Without any words coming out from them, I walked towards the exit and wanted to not be involved with them anymore. Before I could walk out the training ground, Jasmine called my name.
"How about we have a duel? I am not taking no for an answer"
Turning my back, I stared at her and asked.
"Why is that? I have no obligation to accept your invitation on a duel"
"I know, but if you decline, then you already know what will happen"
Damn, with her influence I will definitely not live a peaceful life inside this academy. Irritated, just like earlier, I have no other choice but to accept the duel. But before that, I asked her.
"What would you benefit from the duel? Its not like I am stronger than you"
"Yeah, I know. But if I have to answer your question, then I guess its because of personal reasons"
Such an unreasonable reasoning, already irritated. I walked back inside the ring and accepted the duel, I asked her the rules and she replied with.
"A battle of the strongest spells, we will hit each other with the most powerful spell we have, if the opponent cannot withstand the attack, then they will be the winner"
"Are you kidding? The end result will destroy the training ground"
Aljin said with a worried tone.
"Oh, I did not say that we will conduct the duel here"
"Oh, then where will it be conducted?"
She smiled before answering Aljins question.
"The colosseum"
They were all surprised, but also agreed to her suggestion.
After Jasmine asked the academy to use the colliseum, we were able to use the colosseum but only if professors are present at the duel.
After a long wait for the duel between me and Jasmine, we were finally able to use the colosseum and there were five professors who were present inside the colosseum. Since, Jasmine is the one that is fighting they decided to act as a witness to my passing. Because all of them thought that I will 100% sure will die.
Jasmine was preparing for the duel, while I was just thinking about what will happen if I beat Jasmine to a duel between magic. Since she is the promising prodigy that will certainly be the the next grand magician, I could only think about her reputation if she is defeated by a mere F class student.
It seems that I have to lose this duel, since if I beat her then the whole kingdom will be after me.
"Where is your staff?"
She asked, while magic staffs amplify the power of the magic you use. I guess she really is taking this seriously, I looked at her and asked.
"Is that really necessary? You already know that I will lose, bringing a magic staff is a bit excessive"
"There is no such thing as being underprepared, you already know how strong I am, I do not know how strong you are"
That is very logical, since she is not certain about my capabilities and also what kind of magic I use. She is smart for preparing this much, but I do not intend to win nor the intention of using advanced magic, since that will leave a suspicion to the professors who are watching the duel.
After a couple minutes, she was ready. I asked her on who will go first, she said me, I will be the one who will go first.
Having no other choice, I did not use chantless incantations, instead a low level magic spell. She did not expect that I will use such a low level magic spell, she asked me to try again.
Looking at the professors, she noticed and immediately ordered the professors to leave the colliseum. They did not allow it, since they know that a student will surely die, and they clearly are talking about me.
However, Jasmine got angry and ordered them one last time, with a little bit of threats, they were gone and the only people here were, the 6 talents and me.
"Since the professors are gone now, are you gonna take this duel seriously?"
She seriously wants me to hit her with my strongest magic attack. Seeing how stubborn and persistent she is, I decided to show her my powers a bit.
Closing both of my eyes, I imagined the mana circulating inside my body conjuring a huge rock, and shrinking it into the size of a water bottle with a sharp point.
I guess all of them were shock that I am able to use chantless incantation, and have much better control with it than Jasmine.
Finishing the magic attack, I made it spin with incredible speed for better acuracy. Since she wanted it, then she can have it.
'Boom'
The moment I released it, it was so fast that it made the sound barrier to break, creating a loud explosion. I was certain that it will not be enough for it to pierce the magic barrier surrounding Jasmine, when it hit Jasmines magic barrier, it cracked and made a smokescreen, engulfing Jasmine entirely.
Not being able to see what happened to her, I tried to sense if she is still alive, I sensed a heartbeat indicating she clearly is still alive. I waited for the smoke to clear, I saw Jasmine have a nosebleed, probably because of trying to put mana on the magic barrier.
I asked her.
"You alright?"
She smiled and was clearly surprised that the attack is stronger than she anticipated.
"To think that you can also use chantless incantation with such control, I can see why you wanted to conceal the mana inside your body"
She was tired and exhausted, because she used too much mana trying to block the attack. I waited for her to recover her mana, so she can attack me next.
I got bored, and laid down on the ground staring towards the blue sky. I closed my eyes for a second, and she suddenly screamed my name. Figuring that she already covered her mana, I got up and waited for her to attack.
I thought that she will use chantless incantation, but instead a fifth grade spell, that requires a lot of mana. The name of it is "Vanishing wave of Fire"
Basically a spell that engulfs the target whole, leaving no traces behind. A very dangerous spell to encounter.
After she was done with the incatation, she directed it towards me. Then suddenly a huge fire wave appeared, coming towards me. Forming a magic barrier, I waited for it to be gone. I noticed that its fire is not that pure, and has a lot of impurities.
It was not the true capabilities of the spell.
It was probably due to the lack of mana she has, which is why the spell is not that strong.
