Chapter 17 - The New CEO Of The Larsons Group Of Companies

Another female employee poured cold water on the discussion, saying, "Forget about it. Important meetings are attended by senior managers and executives, so there is no place for you or me there."

Small employees like them could only attend department meetings at most, and were not qualified to go to the company's conference room.

"Ah, I've been in the company for so many years, but I've never even met the new company president. If people ask me outside what he looks like, I'll have to tell them I have no idea. This is really, really bad." A female employee in her twenties sighed softly.

Franklin had always been mysterious in the business world. There was no gossip about him, and no media magazine dared to publish his photos, so not many people outside the company knew his true face. They could only hear some gossip through external rumors and changes in the business world.

Ava, who had been waiting for a long time, had to interrupt their gossip and asked, "Um... who should I give this information to?"

The female employee who was interrupted in the middle of this conversation was unhappy. "Can't you see we are talking? Why don't you just put it down somewhere?"

"Excuse me, they're important meeting materials." Ava said in a low voice.

"Why are you here then? You don't know who to give it to, but you still brought it here? Why don't you keep looking for who to give it to, and stop disturbing us." The female employee in the white suit glanced at Ava impatiently, then turned around and continued the conversation. "What was I saying just now?"

Hannah, who had just come out of the manager's office, saw Ava being put in a difficult situation and stepped forward to protect her.

Pulling Ava behind her, she put her hands on her hips and retorted. "Is that how to behave, Sharon? You're an administrative staff, but you're delaying materials meant for the meeting room. I wonder what Mr. McCain say about that."

Hannah had worked with them for two years and knew that they were often lazy and gossiped endlessly. She had long been fed up with it, but turned a blind eye. Now that she saw them treating her best friend this way, she blamed them even more.

After all, the management of Larsons Group was so strict that they would never keep idle people. If the department manager found out, there was no doubt that the only outcome would be severe warning, if not immediate layoff.

"Hey..." The female employee was left speechless and stared at Hannah. She then snatched the information from Ava's arms and left angrily.

Seeing this, the other two female employees also went back to their seats and kept busy with their own works.

Hannah pulled Ava outside the department and said. "Ava, if it's about the administration department, you can come to me directly."

Knowing that Hannah was standing up for her, Ava whispered softly. "I didn't see you, so..."

Hannah patted Ava's shoulder and smiled cheerfully. "It's okay, let's talk after work."

Having been friends for such a long time, Hannah knew Ava's character very well. So she didn't say anything further.

"Okay." Ava smiled knowingly and turned to leave the administrative department.

Inside the executive office, Gareth placed all the information he had found about the girl on the large oak desk. "The information you requested."

Franklin put down the pen he was signing with, moved his eyes to the document, opened the folder, and looked at it carefully. One minute later, he put it aside and continued to look at the plan report on the table. "Let her come to my office."

"Hm?" Gareth thought he had misheard and looked at Franklin in surprise, "You mean you want to see her?"

"Do you need me to repeat it again?"

Gareth was startled by the tone of the question, which was neither cold nor indifferent, and he realized that he had asked too many questions. He quickly smiled and answered. "I'll inform her right away." 

He didn't dare to stay any longer, because if he angered the CEO, he would be the only one in trouble. Having been Franklin's secretary for so many years, he knew that he couldn't be too curious or interfere with Franklin's decisions.
