Chapter 30 - Chapter Thirty

Atticus hesitated before walking into the ward. As his gaze landed on the pale-looking Sabrina, he felt a sharp pain in his heart as if he were being stabbed.

He sat down beside her before muttering, his voice barely audible. "Sab– Kathryn, please wake up. I don't care who you live as, but I can't live without you. I am sorry I am being a coward for not telling you the truth."

"Just wake up and speak coldly to me as you always do. Please," he begged, tears streaming down his face.

This was the first time Adeline was going to see him cry. Even when his father died, he didn't cry. He only had a dark frown on his pale face.

Seeing how tense the atmosphere was, Adeline decided to excuse Atticus.

After a few minutes of crying, Atticus stood up to leave. He knew if he sat down to watch over her, it would only cause him heartache.

"Didn't you come to check up on me? Why are you leaving? Or are you disappointed that I am alive?"
