Chapter 5 - Chapter Five

"What would you say was the relationship like between my husband and I ?" The hands of the auntie clutched the fabric that drapped down her body while her eyes tensed out. Her throat gulped saliva that choked her breathe.

"Why do you ask ma?" She asked in a voice barely above their ears.

"Auntie I kow this might sound crazy but I have amnesia, the accident caused me to lose the past memories. I just want to know what type of relationship I had with my husband so that I can be a good wife" as much as her words might had sound smooth and convincing the auntie dared not snitched of the past.

"I wish I can help ma but there isn't much to tell, sir and you had a normal relationship" she lied.

She had no intentions of revealing the truth of their relationship nor detail the hectic toxicity of it. Every night was a hell of blazing screams and fights between them.

At one time she had seen her boss snapping her madam head body against the walls of their room after a hard squeeze of his hands on her neck.

"You really think am going to let you go so easily" he screamed with a hard throw of her body on the floor. His eyes dead sore to her audacity of threatening him. "You listen to me very carefully, there's no way am letting you ruin what have built for decades, only I get to call it quit" he stated pulling the edge of her chin.

Moan filled her lips as his fingers laid on her skin, rubbing against the bruises incurred from her face meeting the walls.

"If ever you dared to leave then I swear I'll have you disappear from the existence " Auntie Bintu snapped as she recollected his words that night. If she were to be honest she would tell her madam to leave and never returned , as she feared her sir was no good man.

"What of my relationship with my daughter ?" That she didn't mind telling.

"Your relationship with your daughter is like a lime, not much to say. You were always busy and young mis learned to live without you" to put it plainly, she intended to narrate to her that she was an awful mother who cared not about her daughter. She only fixed time for herself , yet she blamed little on her as she pitted her life.

Her lack of attention to her daughter might had been caused from the dispused she carried for her husband and every looked at her daughter was a reflection of the monster she was trying to escape.

"Are you going to tell me what's your relationship with her or not?" The door of a room went blasting in reveal of Rachel, whom stood with hands glued on her chest.

"David" she called while stalking to his body that turned back at her, while focused on a screen.

"You shouldn't be here" David casually stated while handling down his computer screen. "Hold up, how did you enter?" His body flinched off the chair as he looked at his apartment door. He clearly recalled changing his door codes after their breakup, reasons due to her constant presence in his apartment.

"It was easy to crack down, for an IT specialist you quite ain't good at it" she taunted " back to my question, what's your relationship with her?" The thought had bugged her hours through her work, she couldn't stand the idea of her boyfriend, well ex boyfriend having an illegitimate affair with a married woman.

"It non of your concern now please leave" he gestured to the door he had let wild.

"Hate to break it to you but it does concerns me, cause you owe me a favor. I just want to know why you would ask me to lie about her condition, at least I deserve that much" she ended in a pleading voice

"I can't"

Raged by his refusal to the truth, she brushed her feet for the door only to be pulled back by a sight on the table. Trailed back on her steps, she picked up a photo that visioned a scene of a burning car and within seemed to be a lady in copy of Kenita.

" Why do you have this photo?. It the scene of her accident, how is it here?" Her mind ran through, was he present at the time of the accident?. But Mr Kamara informed her that his wife was saved by remote strangers, so how is he in possession of the scene photo?.

"You should leave" he snatched the photo off her grip while his eyes trailed for the door and she understood and walked out without a word more. Though she harbored thoughts and doubts to what was happening, her main curiosity was the relationship between him and her.

Was she a threat to her?.

When she had broken up with him three years ago she hoped to let down of the memories of their relationship but failed to do so. She regretted her decision to have walked out that same door three years ago all in the name of him choosing between her and his so long time friend whom resides in the states. His every breathe was in her favor, the name Kenita had become a thorn in her chest, one she couldn't get rid of so she felt best to leave instead of being a second option.

Darkness was a quick spread , Kamara arrived home with body weak on it feet from all the works of the day, all he needs was a glass of vodka and he was to be good. With legs pinned on the stool , he led his hand for the liquor bar and grabbed out the transparent bottle, flipped out the wooden seal and poured himself a mid in the glass on the counter.

Harsh he let it burned through his throat down to his stomach that rumbled at the liquor being the only meal in it. He wasn't in the mood for meal service so he let it slide.

'Damn it' he grunted while sending a third glass in his mouth. Why was she back?, was the man above messing with him or what?.

He had tried his very best to forget her in those past months, he was on a new page of his life and career so why did she had to appear?.

"Sir" he turned in the direction of the voice, behind him was the auntie Bintu, whom gave him a concern look.

"Are you alright?" She hadn't seen him that stress since months ago, she knew the return of his wife had him juggled. Their relationship wasn't one to fancied, though to the outside world they were the best and idolized she knew far better.

To her boss nothing mattered like his reputation and company's image, he had so anything to uphold those two things, even at the cost of one's life.

"I'm fine auntie, where's she?" He asked about his wife.

"Settled and probably in bed" Auntie responded

"And Lisa ?"

"Young mis is in bed" she informed " also, ma made inquiries about your relationship of the past" she detailed out.

"And what did you tell her?" His hands lost grip on the glass as he stoned his eyes at the woman.

"Nothing that doesn't concerns me" her words eased his mind as well as losing his tight chest. In a sigh he picked the glass and gulped a bulk of the liquor.

Heavy walks were made through the door of his room, his mind barely holding up as his visions loses focus on his steps. Out he loosened his tie after a throw of his coat on the floor and flipped his body on his bed with little care of his body stench of alcohol. He was to fix that in the morning, he assured himself.

Just as his eyes were drowning in the darkness, a glimpse of light pierced through snatching his attention. His throat flushed down dry saliva as his his chest tightened, on every second he stared at her hands gently rubbed her skin.

In haste he averted his gaze the second he knew she had noticed his presence. Hurriedly she pulled up the robe on her shoulders while he tried to act calm as possible.

"Sorry" he lightly said not knowing what to say, the situation was awkward.

Why did he apologized?, she was his wife , well not his wife but he wasn't in knowledge of it.

"Why are you in here?" Her voice offensively rant out.

"Well Cinderella this is my room" he taunted revoked, quite offended by her tone.

"Your room, I thought this was mine" clearly she thought wrong cause that was his room, well it was his and his wife's room, which made it both their room. It just that Kenita didn't find it pleasing sharing rooms with her sister's husband nor wanted situation as earlier repeating.

" I can't share a room with you" her voice again blared out. "I know we're supposed to be couples but I have no memories of that, and would appreciate it if we keep our distance till I recover" she calmly explained, hoped he got her message.

"You can have the room , I'll sleep in another room. Tomorrow I'll have auntie prepare you a room of your own" though there relationship was nothing less than what she requested, he just couldn't help but feel light sore to her demands.

Truth being told, they were indeed sleeping in separate room even before her accident, the issues between them had grown so worst that nothing could bridge them, not even their daughter.
