He was going to be caught Kenita thought through as her body stood behind the fall and eyes scooped at Kamara's feet stalked toward David, his eyes stabbed and glared at his every move.
David's fingers restlessly tapped on his thighs as his body tried to hold the stand to the trembling erupting in his body. His chest felt compressed and weak, and a flash of heat suddenly lashed his body causing a great discomfort. His hands had become slippery and warm, he could tell his mind was juggling but dared not let it be detected.
"Your identification please "Kamara's husky voice coldly demanded. A second of silence from the man had him pulling his hands from his trouser pocket as his eyes gestured to the guards at the other end of the lobby. Quicker they marched their feet to the scene, ready for their armed weapon.
Just as the air seemed to be choking the breath out of David, a voice came rescuing him.
"Hey I see you've met the new worker," said Kelvin.
"New employee?" Kamara's eyes met Kelvin who stood in sized chino trousers and a white cotton shirt that hooked the breath out of him, plainly he let buttons of two fronts loose in an attempt to seek air. He wanted a more simple and sophisticated look, not too much and not less either, and from the stares from female workers drooling and murmuring in admiration, needless to say, his plan was in effect.
"Since when did we have a new employee?" his tone grew heavy and loud as he looked at the unbothered suspicious man, who gave less to his words. A more erupted rage that an employee was recruited without his knowledge, he was their boss for goddamn sake, what was operating in their brains?.
"The last engineer resigned, we had to find someone to replace him. Plus he referred him and his credentials were good" Kelvin explained. As one of the Hr managers he thought it fit to hire David since the last cyber engineer would be out.
"And why doesn't he have an employee ID?" well genius that could be because he had just been hired and management hadn't offered him one yet, Kelvin's thoughts almost erupted out yet a calm wind blew them off. By then he was aware of the kind of person Kamara was, one hell of an annoying pain in the ass but he loved his annoying ass.
"Anyway David meet Mr Kamara the owner of S.T. company, Kamara meet David the new cyber security engineer" he introduced. Wanting to ease the atmosphere he thought of a famous joke and cracked it out but to his frozen lips halfway, neither of them got his joke.
Some people just don't know what a good joke is, his mouth twisted into an annoyed sound as he looked at the other end of the elevator.
"So David how're you finding the work environment?" questioned Kelvin randomly, he intended to ease the cold air in the elevator. With both men's eyes focused on the numbers swiping on the elevator, he could read the bad vibes between them. Crazy how they just met and they were already at odds.
"I don't know, I've just got here" responded David. Really what did he expect him to say?, it was his first day at the company, and if he was, to be frank, his only reason for taking that job was to be close to Kenita and help her investigate her sister's death. His accepting the job was just bait to get access to the resources.
"No biggie, give yourself just a day and you will get used to this place," he said with a cheesy wink. Being the friendly type and outspoken in a calm way, made him easy to approach and friend to all.
And just when the conversation was extending the doors of the elevator went wide and in an instant David hopped his legs out of it, not spearing a second more.
"Thank goodness" a voice snatched his gaze after he flinched on his feet. Behold Kenita stood with arms crossed on her chest as she waited on him.
"How are you…?" his words scrambled, clearly he saw her down when he was encountered by Kamara so how was she on the third floor?
"I took the stairs" explained, while they were busy waiting for the elevator to come down she took the stairs, and that was how she managed to reach first.
In a hat drop, they were in the security room, obviously thanks to Alima who had acted her plan. With her witty skills, she was able to trick the head guard who presented as much aged to have been called while she talked to the other in random conversations.
After a minute's search for the footage of that day, he discovered it lost. Over and again he scrolled through the screen of clips of the company's underground park but nothing of that day was on avail. Which sent a sting in his head, as it was all footage of various days were there even ones of months before, it just so happened that the one needed was gone. Needless to say, he knew someone had deleted the clip, so he searched in the backup drive yet seem that the person had also deleted every piece of that day.
Of course, it was a lift of a paper to him. All it took was a hack into the third-party system and retrieve the clip needed.
"Got it" he voiced out in relief after a minute load of the clip in his dark drive he had pulled from his back. They speared no second to wrap things up and left the room for Kenitas office.
"Her car was tampered with" David stated as he looked at the screen which displayed a man sneaking into the park ground, with his head covered in a gray face cap, the chubby figure took out a thin rod and slid into the car's door causing it to open after few twists. With the opportunity at hand, the man whose face was half seen went in the car and came out a minute later, he also crawled under the car and came out after seconds.
"I can't wait any longer, am done hiding" Kenita's voice scrambled out, her fingers repeatedly dancing on her forehead while her feet paced forth and back.
That does it, she was attacking the enemy front, no more behind curtains.
"Kenita, you should calm down first, this video isn't evidence of your suspicion. It proves nothing" David cautioned
"Oh it proves a lot, I know this clip won't land him behind bars nor serve justice to my sister but it getting out would implicate him" and that was her agenda. She knew the second the media got hold of that clip her sister's case would be reopened and she planned on creating chaos of it, no matter what she was going to bring him down.
"So what do you plan?"
"Have it published on every news channel and every media platform, and leave the rest to me" she instructed sending hard glares at the blank wall.He was going to be caught Kenita thought through as her body stood behind the fall and eyes scooped at Kamara's feet stalked toward David, his eyes stabbed and glared at his every move.
