Within the walls of the room, Abdul sat across the table with fingers nervously tapping against the metal surface. His unkempt hair slicked back, revealing a furrowed brow and a sheen of sweat despite the cool temperature in the room.
"Need some water?" the question snatched his gaze from the floor to the other end of the table, Samuel, who delightedly snuck a smirk at him.
"No am good" The words faded out, and his eyes darted around the room, averting direct eye contact with Samuel, betraying a mix of fear and defiance.
"Good, what's your relationship with Mrs. Kemida Kamara"
"Kemidia, is she some celebrity?" his brows raised as he asked out, his mind wondering who it was, was he being arrested for another case?, Could it be that the police had mistaken him for some other suspect? It could be possible, cause he had never crossed paths with the Mrs Kemidia he just measured.
"How about now?" his eyes widened, fingers dug into the metal table as he stared at the photo being thrown in front of him.
Well, the arrest was valid okay, he did recognize the person in the photo but in his defense, he was ordered to get rid of her, no further detail was given on her neither did he bother to research her.
He was just a guy doing his damn job.
"She looks somehow familiar but I just can't pin where we've met," he said through gritted teeth, his body repeatedly shaken as he let out cracked chuckles.
"You can't remember or you don't want to?" Samuel pressured, his eyes kin on Abdul's gaze that flickered toward the one-way mirror, and for a moment, a hint of desperation flashed in his eyes. It was clear he was calculating his next move, torn between self-preservation and the consequences of betrayal.
"Fine, I'll tell you who it is but you have to promise me my safety" his voice firmed his request.
In a flick, Samuel nodded at his request and led his hand in gestures for him to speak. His mind settled in assurance of whose name he was going to call, he was certain that was it, the moment of truth and the end of Kamara. All he waited for was his name being called and he would drag his body behind bars.
"Sarah"
"What?" Samuel's voice husked out as he led his feet upright, his hands fisted in a hard ball as he glared at Abdul.
"The one that paid me was a lady, her name is Sarah and apparently she has a beef with Mrs Kamara" he stated staring straight at Samuel's darkened eyes, his veins had tensed, and his hands fisted in a ball.
"You're not fooling anyone," Samuel growled, his voice low and menacing. " I know Kamara hired you, he told you to tell this lie" Abdul flinched but said nothing, his gaze dropped to the table.
"I don't know any Kamara, I'm telling the truth, I was hired by a woman named Sarah" his words firm as were his eyes that stayed still.
Samuel's patience soon ran out, In a flash, he slammed his fist onto the metal surface, the loud bang reverberating through the room like a gunshot.
"You wanted the name and I've given it," He said in a shaken voice as he looked at Samuel pacing his legs toward him, his eyes blazing with controlled fury. He grabbed Abdul by the collar, jerking him forward so their faces were inches apart.
"You think you can outsmart me?" he snarled. "I've seen guys like you before, you lie between your teeth" As his fisted knuckles were heading for Abdul's face a voice called out, saving Abdul from his rage. He just couldn't let go of the fact that Kamara might flee from his crime again.
He was certain he was behind everything.
" We do not assault our suspect, we only interrogate them" a man who appeared to be his superior cautioned him. "Now I know this might be personal but you're to remain professional. Have this Sarah lady tracked and brought here for investigation" Without a protest Samuel headed out.
Inside, Abdul slowly fell on the chair, his body still shaken by the hard slam of his body against the walls, his eyes rampantly scanned the room as if he was looking for something or someone.
Just a minute before he was brought in, his body felt a sharp discomfort, in a quick stare at his side a man handed him a piece of paper that warned he stayed silent and gave further instructions on what to say.
A couple of hours later, Kennita was at the police station at the request of Samuel. Kenita was in disbelief as Samuel rang her phone to inform her that the culprit behind her car accident had been found, her mind was baffled as she counted her steps in the station.
Her face was pale but resolute, eyes betraying a mixture of fear and steely determination. Still unsure if she was ready for what lay ahead yet tried to keep a cool demure.
Her feet halted as she stared at the lady sitting in red, her hands cuffed and lay steady on the table in the dimmed room. Every step she took toward the culprit was measured, each one a curiosity as to who the person was.
"Mrs. Kamara, thanks for coming ins such short notice" Samuel greeted and offered her a seat, to which she accepted with eyes still on the unfamiliar lady. Questions popped in as to who she was and how she was related to the case.
"This is Sarah" Kenita's eyes fell on the lady, her calm ginger eyes stayed glued on her lap.
"she hired Abdul to sabotage your car" Samuel continued, after the order to track her down. He took his team and went to arrest her, she wasn't hard to locate as her name was in the system. Coincidentally, she admitted to everything Abdul stated earlier even thou he still had his doubts he couldn't do much as the culprit had been found and confessed.
"You telling me she's the culprit?" doubt built in as she stared at the innocent face, "What was the reason behind it?" she further asked, suspicious of foul play. The lady couldn't be the realm mastermind, it was obvious she was being set on the case.
"She wanted vengeance for her unfair termination of contract" Samuel went depth in detailing that she was an employee in ST company but Kenita, that is kemidia fired her after she told of her designs being stolen by her. Her losing her job resulted yo her mother passing and she needed to make her pay.
As much as the reason was valid, she still kept her mind skeptical about it.
"Do you believe she is the culprit" Her question was directed at Samuel who tightened his grip on the pen, his gaze falling on the paper in front of him. Of course, he didn't believe it but had no evidence to prove his doubts of claims of whom the real culprit was, all he could do was accept things as they were.
"So what's going to happen next?"
"I am afraid the case has been solved and so it closed" he informed to his dismay, another chance slip through his fingers.
"But I don't want this case to close, I don't believe she is the culprit," Kenita said through desperation, she had been this close to getting justice and it all went to drain.
"I wish I could help but am afraid the case is officially closed. The only way to have it reopen is by having new evidence to prove otherwise, besides that" he halted, taking a quick cover of the document in front of him.

" Congratulations, the case has been closed" Beth cheerfully said with a smile, her hands gently clapped as she sat down. Having a call from the head officer to inform her of progress in the case had her over the moon. Finally, she can work on removing the annoying woman from Kamara's life.
"Can you believe it was all due to her ill manners, turns out that the person who hired the man is Sarah, the lady she fired a year ago" she scoffed, assured it was Kamar taking turns at her. She was an evil bitch that kept harassing the subordinates under her, certain any worker would despise a boss like her.
"I guess she got what she deserved" Her laughter seized on the sight of Samuel's cold expression, he didn't seem to be happy on heating the good news. He should be rejoicing as the allegations against him had been clear but instead, his eyes remained dark while his body stayed unbothered.
"What are you to do about her?" she asked getting up on her feet and waiting anxiously for his response.
"What about her?" he fired back in the flex of not knowing what she was on to. He knew she intended to have him get rid of her from his life but he wouldn't do such. It was both risky to his image and position.
"Don't act a fool with me Kay, she's no good to you. Why not just divorce her" Beth yelled having enough, it was obvious he was hesitant to call for divorce all because of his stupid principle and tradition of no divorce, he did not believe in divorce.
"I am not divorcing my wife and it would be better if you stay out of my affair with my wife" he stated leaving no room for debate or protest. He did value them as a friend and partner in his company but that was all, her right was limited in the company. She was his wife and he knew best how to handle her.
In a grumpy state, she walked out, having a fury of rejection yet a spark of light glowed as she stared at her phone screen. It was fine if he didn't want to do anything she was going to help him get a divorce. Her lips spread through as she thought of the perfect plan.

"That's because don't believe she's the culprit" Kenita scolded, attracting the audience of the bystanders and those busy in their seats. She was at a cafe with David to discuss the failure to progress.
David paused, leaning forward, and let out a long sigh. "I still don't know how he managed to do it," he said, his voice heavy. " How was he able to get him to testify against someone else and why did he also confess?." his mind was baffled, unsure of everything. If truly the lady was innocent and was not the mastermind then she must have been paid by Kamara or someone else to take the crime.
"Do you perhaps think that she was set on it?" David asked,
Kenita uncrossed her arms and leaned forward slightly, her fingers tapping nervously on the armrest. "I also suspect that," she replied, her tone more measured. "there had to be something we missed, some detail we overlooked."
"Sorry am late," a voice said from behind, Alima walked forward and took a seat at the table they were at. "Sorry again" she apologized, receiving Kenita's call to meet up, she rushed he way to the location being sent to her. She would have come earlier but Mr Kamara kept her on her toes with tasks.
" Thanks for coming" Oh it was nothing, she was glad to be there. She might not know but she felt a deep sincerity and gratefulness to her. A couple of years ago when she had just been recruited as Mr. Kamara's assistant she was going through tough times, Kemidia was the one who aided her, and since then she has grown into her.
"Can you tell me anything about Sarah?" She asked Alima who stared blankly, her mind unsure of why she needed information on Sarah but complied anyway.
"She used to work for you but you had her fired a year ago" she detailed having chills from Kemidia's tone and attitude toward the poor lady. She wasn't only fired but accused of theft which resulted in her being in prison for a week,
"Not only that you had her blacklisted by other companies causing her to have no job offers" Kenita was still in disbelief at her sister's acts. Was she really that heartless? , how could she have done such to a fellow human? Her heart sank in, an invisible weight plagued her chest, and a lingering ache erupted in her stomach as she digested the words of Alima.
"What happened after?" the words losing came out, still bothering if she wanted to know.
"Sarah disappeared, the last I heard her family was in debt and her daughter was sick" Alima concluded with a flat breath.
"And her mother?" David asked having not heard of her in her explanation.
"Her mother died three years ago" That didn't make sense, from her statement she wanted revenge because she lost her mother a year ago after being sacked, but if her mother had long died before the incident, that only meant she was lying.
Even more, she was in debt and couldn't afford to hire Abdul to do the job. It was clear an invisible person was pulling the strings.
