Chapter 18 - Chapter 18 Trouble.

Paul was astonished, the moment he let them go alone they were chased by a beast again.

Only after a moment did he notice that the girl's quivers were empty and the boar had a few arrows sticking from its body.

He sighed at this since he had figured out what had happened and it was the girl's fault to begin with.

However, no matter how it started he now had to finish it and he prepared to do just that.

He took out a long spear he got from the mercenaries from his spatial device and prepared five mini fireballs that were now flying in a circle above his left hand.

-Girls come this way.

He shouted and they immediately rushed in his direction.

-Run past me.

He instructed them just to make sure that they would not distract him.

Mia and Maya did as they were told.

The moment they were behind him he fired the fireballs at the incoming beast that was the size of a bull.

All five attacks hit their mark enraging the boar even more than it already was as they landed on its head.

The beast changed its target to Paul and charged at him with a roar.

The human didn't panic and just stood there while infusing the spear with his Qi.

When the beast was close to him he pointed the tip of the spear at its head and dug the other end into the ground.

There was no way for the spirit beast to change its direction or evade the weapon as it was going too fast and was too close to it.

The moment Paul saw the tip of the spear piercing the boar's head he jumped away to avoid a collision with the beast which would most likely end badly for the human.

The boar's skull was thick and strong especially since it was a spirit boar but the Qi-infused spear had no problem penetrating it and reaching its brain especially since its speed and weight were the forces that impaled it onto this weapon.

Unfortunately, the spear broke in the process but it did its work and the boar was dead before it even hit the ground.

Paul made sure that the beast was dead by slitting its throat with a sword which created a fountain of blood.

Then he turned around to the girls who were catching their breaths while watching the whole thing a few meters away.

-Ladies, mind telling me why did you think it was a good idea to shoot arrows at a spirit beast?

He asked, but something in his voice told them that they were in trouble.

-Master, we found it on the river bank and it was sleeping so we thought that we could kill it for food and materials.

Maya explained.

-Go on.

Paul said, with his hands on his hips and a stern face.

-We shot some arrows and managed to hit it but this only worked it up and made it angry.

We shot all the arrows we had but could not kill it and it only got angrier.

Then we started to run and it chased us.

He already knew what happened after that.

Paul wasn't sure if he should be happy or pissed at this moment.

On one hand, the girls wanted to hunt for food and materials and succeeded thanks to his help.

On the other hand, they got themselves into trouble once he let them go out of his sight and could not only get hurt or even killed but they also implicated him in this whole mess.

Right now he was stumped and had no idea if he should praise them for their effort or scold them for creating this mess from nothing.

In the end, he decided to turn this mess into a lesson for them.

-Ladies first of all, you don't attack a beast unless you know how to do it or have to defend yourselves.

He started his lecture.

-Second, you wanted the materials from this boar but its most valuable material is its hide which you made useless by poking a lot of holes in it.

-Third, you almost got yourselves hurt or even killed by attacking this thing.

This was a spirit beast but even if it was just a regular boar, arrows are almost useless on it since it has a tough hide and a lot of fat and muscles under it.

So unless you targeted its eyes all your arrows did was piss it off and ruin its hide.

Both girls listened with their heads hung to their chests and did not dare to even speak since this was their fault.

Paul reprimanded them for another ten minutes before he finished.

-Did you at least get the wood?

He asked after a moment.

-We have some of it but this boar was sleeping next to the pile that I remembered, master.

Maya answered quietly.

-Ok, since there is no more bore to obstruct you, so you will go back and get the wood.

Also if you manage to find your arrows on your way, collect them.

He instructed them and took out some arrows to fill their quivers.

-These are for you to defend yourselves so no more hunting and if you find another beast then first call me before attacking it.

-Yes, master.

Both girls acknowledged his instructions and went back to get the wood that they were supposed to get.

While they were gone Paul got busy with the dinner since he had dumped all the wood he had gathered into the hole earlier and the girls should be back within at most two hours so he had more than enough time to prepare a meal.

But first, he stored the boar in his storage space, even if the hide was full of holes, there were other materials that he could get from it and also it was a mountain of meat, what's more, it was a spirit beast so its meat could support his and the girl's cultivation since it was filled with Qi.

Before the meal was ready Paul once again heard steps and they sounded like the girls running again.

-What did they do this time?

He asked looking at the sky with a sigh.

This was getting ridiculous, every time they went out alone they managed to get chased by something.

But to his shock, he didn't hear anything besides the girl's steps.

This baffled him a bit.

-Since nothing was chasing them, then why were they running?

Paul asked himself and prepared his bow just in case since his hearing was only a bit better than previously and it would get fully refined only when he reached the Heraing refinement stage of Qi cultivation.

A few seconds later both girls sprinted out of the forest like they were chased by an army of demons.

Once they saw him they darted in his direction and both of them were in a panic.

Paul did not like this one bit as whatever made them so scared couldn't be simple since they weren't this panicked even when the spirit boar was chasing them

Before he could even ask what happened they both reached him and fell to their knees gasping for air.

-Master, we saw it…

-We saw the Dead breeder…

Both girls said between their heavy breaths.
