Chapter 48 - The Treatment Process_1

Las Vegas, Nevada:

Following their much-anticipated tour, Jake intended to pop Emily's romantic interest in marriage when they returned to Las Vegas.

He made a grand preparation, ensuring that it was Emily's dream marriage propo al. Her cousin and best friend Eve Young helped a great deal in making it happen...Unfortunately, Emily, with a sad heart, declined Jake's proposal and disclosed that she was terminally sick.

"I'm sorry, Jake, but I can't accept your proposal knowing I could die anytime and leave you with a broken heart. I'm so sorry! However, thank you for letting me cross off one of the biggest items on my bucket list. Thank you!"

Overwhelmed by feelings, Jake lost control of his annoyance and blurted out the truth—unbeknownst to her, they had already been lawfully married on her 21st birthday.

"Why, Emily...?"Why didn't you inform me earlier? We could look for a treatment." His voice was raspy and racked with pain.

"If I had surgery, my chances of survival were 95/5, with a mere 5% chance of survival." I had come to terms with the fact that I would not be receiving any therapy. I'm not scared about Aiden anymore with you at his side. I still can't, however, accept your idea in any way. Do you get it?

"Well, whether you accept my proposition or not makes no difference. We have been married for the last four years already. Okay, that's it!"

Emily was shocked, devastated, and deceived. She lost track of her whereabouts and could not digest the discovery.

Jake once again lied to her—first about fathering Aiden and then about them being married. What else has he been hiding? Why is he hiding it from her? Maybe because he has someone else in his heart and is just waiting for the five years to inherit everything and then get divorced. Hah ha! Emily was losing it already.

She needs to get away pretty fast, or she doesn't know what she will do. Emily leaves the venue without looking back, packs a bag, and then takes a plane to the Kingdom of Stonasia to get treated.

Before leaving, she wrote letters to Aiden, Mr. and Mrs. Hernandez, Eve, and Jake stating different things.

[To my beloved son,

Mommy is sick and needs to get better. I don't know how long I'll be gone, but be good to Aunty, Uncle, and your father. I love you with all of my heart.

See you!

Mom💖💖💖 ]

[ Aunty, Uncle...

You know my situation, and now I have discovered that Jake has been deceiving me all this time. I need to find myself and come to terms with the problem. I will return when I'm feeling better. Please take care of Aiden for me.

God bless you two, and stay healthy, for Aiden still needs your guidance.

Yours,

Emily.]

[ Eve,

I'm leaving and entrusting Aiden and Ja to you. Don't bother looking for me. I don't have long to live, and I want to die in peace.

Take care, I love you!

Emily 💖]

[ Jake,

The only thing I could say is this...Goodbye, and good luck! Take care of Aiden for me since you owe me a lot. Don't bother looking for me because you will not find me alive even if you do.

Goodbye!

Em...]

When Jake learned that Emily had vanished while suffering from a disease, he was horrified.

He hurried to the airport in a desperate attempt to locate her out of fear for her safety.

After finding nothing in his search, he instructed Allan to contact every airline to find out which aircraft Emily had taken and where she was going.

Their attempts were unsuccessful, though, since Emily was not leaving the country.

It became evident that she had carefully thought out her escape strategy and had used a phony identity to avoid being discovered.

Driven by an intense feeling of urgency, Jake set out on a frantic adventure to find her before it was too late, to reconnect her with her loved ones, and to offer comfort and support during her dying days.

Kingdom of Stonasia:

Emily had traveled to Dr. Garcia's clinic with despair and optimism. She had been fighting a deadly brain tumor for years, and as the treatment started to work, she was finally relieved.

She had found the serenity and concentration she needed to recuperate at the cutting-edge institution, tucked away in a picturesque nook away from the outside world.

Dr. Garcia found out that she was three months pregnant with their initial checkup before the treatment.

However, Dr. Garcia assured her that the serum would not harm the embryo during her treatment, so they were able to begin right away.

Trusting Dr. Garcia with her life and her unborn child, Emily began her treatment.

She had exacting treatment every day for six months, all the while being watched over by the top physicians and specialists in the field. Dr. Garcia ensured that the mother and the child's safety were met.

Everything looked ideal at first. The tumors that had been bothering her for a while started to get smaller.

The baby in her stomach was very healthy. She couldn't wait until the treatment was over and for her to give birth to a healthy child.

No matter what the outcome of her treatment, at least she would have another life to provide Jake when she's gone.

She gradually felt heavier, healthier, and more enthusiastic as the days passed. However, things began to change gradually.

Emily became aware of little memory lapses, like forgetting a name or someone. She initially disregarded it as merely being pregnant and her hormone imbalance. Her body had significantly endured, so some mental tiredness was understandable.

But as time passed, she started to experience increasingly regular memory lapses. Little things like where she put her book down or what she had for breakfast would slip her mind.

Then, more essential memories started to disappear, little by bit. She kept it to herself and did not mention it to Dr. Garcia...~~~
