Lilly's POV
Only a few minutes walk from the bistro and I arrived at GTI, I walked in and thankfully was met by Frances, the secretary that called to set up the meeting. I was pleasantly surprised at her appearance, she was much younger than she had sounded and couldn't have been a few years older then me and had medium brown hair a cute button nose and freckles all over her face, she was elegantly dressed but with bright red lipstick which brought out her beautiful hazel eyes, I always wished I had different colored eyes, not plain brown but my mom always said thats why god gave me such colorful hair.
"Hello Miss Harper, it is so nice to meet you in person" Frances said with a genuine smile as she looked straight into my eyes with a boldness I found a little unsettling.
"Oh please just call me Lilly, and yes its so nice to meet you as well." I shook her hand as she nodded her head and gestured with her hands to follow her which I did.
She brought me to the elevators and brought me up to the 4th floor and down the hall to the HR board room. She directed me to a seat and told me to wait, I sat for only a few moments when a middle aged man with thinning blonde hair and steel blue eyes walked in, Frances was right behind him, she sat down a water bottle for both of us and introduced me before walking back out and closing the door.
"Well first off it is nice to meet you Miss Harper, my name is Donald Smythe head of HR and I will be conducting your interview today" Donald shook my hand and pursed his lips into a smile.
"Its so wonderful to meet you to, thank you for having me" I nervously said. Its so wonderful to meet you? Desperate much? Damn it Lilly, play it cool.
"So I like to ask first, what was your inspiration to become an Architect?" He smiled and leaned forward as if he was waiting for a grand explanation which made me all the more nervous I would say the wrong thing.
"My father is an Archaeologist and so our family traveled around the world going to all his dig sights, I was able to see many ruins and some buildings that were preserved underground. I was always so fascinated how a building could withstand hundreds of years underground and I would study the way they were shaped and build and what materials they would use. I fell in love with ancient Architecture with inspired me to become an Architect." I didn't realize how relaxed I became just talking about my passion, my heart rate lowered and my nerves settled. I felt my confidence rise and just knew I could get this job.
The interview felt long but I refused to look at my phone. He asked me many questions I was prepared for and a few that I wasnt but I was quick on my feet. After the interview Donald asked me to wait in the board room. After about 30 minutes he finally came back.
"Lilly! I would like to officially welcome you to Globaltecture Inc" He smiled big and reached out to shake my hand.
"Oh my goodness, that is so.. Im so excited to be here. Thank you for the opportunity Mr. Smythe
"Oh please call me Donald and you know normally we don't hire on the same day as the interview but with your portfolio and your grades mixed with how well you answered some of my questions and your good attitude I knew we couldn't let anyone else scoop you up before us" He finally let go of my hand before asking for identification to make copies.
He wanted me to go through the entire on-boarding process today in order to be ready to jump into work the following day. By the time I left I had been there for 7 hours jumping from person to person so know one knew I hadn't stopped for lunch and I was not about to complain. I was now starving, it was 2:30 which was well after lunch so it should be safe to go to the bistro to grab a bite and not run into Mr. Sinclair, not that he would remember me anyways, it has been a few days.
I hopped into the bistro and ordered a sandwich and coffee since I didn't get my second cup. I was feeling a little shaky so I sat to eat my sandwich near the door for an easy escape. I heard the door bell and looked up to see a man walk in, he had to have been over 6 foot and he was by far the most handsome man I had ever seen although he looked familiar I couldn't place where I had seen him. His hair was thick and dark brown like espresso and his jaw was chiseled like a lumberjack but he had a softness in his eyes, oh… his eyes are beautiful, hazel with flex of green and gold… Oh wow, I feel a little breathless.
The smell of Sandalwood, leather & sun soaked skin hit my nose and I took a deep breath, starting to feel dizzy again and let out a whimper by accident. The man turned to me and stared into my eyes for a few moments before saying in a soft low voice: You, Your… uh… hold on one sec.
He ran out the door and just when I thought he wasn't coming back the door rang again and he held out my purse: Is this yours?
I looked at him in shock trying understand why he would have had my purse: Yes its mine, how did you…
He interrupted me: I found it on the ground this morning here and I just… he trailed off: Well here you go. He held out my purse and I reached out to grab it and he placed his hand under mine to hold it open as he planted the bag onto my hand. I felt a shiver go down my spine as he touched me and it started tingling up my fingers into my arm.
He finally let go of me but held his gaze as he sat down in the chair opposite to me and said: I was trying to figure out who the owner was and I saw your portfolio, your applying for internship to be an Architect?
I was having a hard time speaking with him looking at me like he wanted me to have his babies, that and with his scent making my head spin and my body started feeling warm, but I managed to get out a quick "Yes" As he tilted his head slightly before he continued: Where all have you applied?
I got out the name "GTI" and trailed off when I remembered where I had seen him. He is Leo Sinclair of Sinclair Corp: Your brother is an asshole! I didn't mean for it to come out but it did and boy did I regret it.
Leo leaned back in his chair, his brows furrowed and his eyes went dark and when he spoke it was almost a growl but not quite: What?
"I shouldn't have said that, please, just forget that I did" I jumped up and he tried to grab my arm but luckily I had a lot of practice dodging my brother and was able to avoid him. I ran out of the door before he could do or say anything, I ran into the parking lot to my car and started making my way home when I realized I had only taken a few bites of my sandwich and was still starving.
