Chapter 5 - ANGER

Juliet received a notification to return to the station. The captain and the team had gone out on an emergency task, and the suspect had dismissed their suspicions about Juliet and left. Juliet was assigned to stay behind on duty.

It was just her and Deputy Captain Jack, who was a month away from retirement. Jack, as usual, wore a cold expression, as if the whole world owed him eight million dollars.

Juliet needed some information for a report. After searching for a while and not finding it, she decided to ask Jack.

"Deputy Captain Jack, could you please tell me if this file is with you?" Juliet asked politely, though she felt a bit awkward.

To be honest, no one in the entire station liked dealing with him.

Jack swiveled his chair, showing her his back, and replied dismissively, "Don't know!"

Juliet was speechless.

If he didn't have it, he could just say so. What did he mean by "don't know"?

Just as she was about to ask again, her phone suddenly rang. Seeing that it was an unknown number, Juliet assumed it was a spam call and hung up without a second thought. She had a report to finish and no time for chit-chat.

On the other end of the line, Bill was stunned.

That woman hung up on him?

How dare she!

Did she not want a divorce anymore?

Already furious, Bill didn't hesitate to call back.

Meanwhile, Juliet looked up after hanging up the phone, only to find that Jack had already left. As she glanced around, searching for Jack, her phone rang again.

"Who dares to make spam calls to a police officer!" Juliet was annoyed as she looked at the caller ID but answered this time.

As soon as she did, a deep, magnetic male voice, tinged with anger, came through the line: "I'm your husband! Why did you hang up on me?"

Juliet was momentarily stunned, completely forgetting that she had registered a marriage and had a husband now. She immediately retorted, "I'm your father!"

Bill was left speechless.

"You idiot!"

Click!

This time, it was Bill who hung up.

He couldn't even remember the name of that woman.

Bill, who had just been called "son" by Juliet, was furious. His face darkened like a storm cloud as he threw his phone heavily onto the car seat.

The driver, bodyguards, and assistants all remained silent, not even daring to exchange glances.

Rumor had it that Bill had married the wrong person today when he went to register! And the person was a police officer!

The woman he was originally supposed to marry had been in a car accident and was still in the hospital. And now, President Bill would have to wait a month before he could get a divorce!

But President Bill had only agreed to marry once, and yet his mother insisted that he marry Miss Guo!

President Bill had already lost his temper once this afternoon!

And now it seemed like he was angered again by that woman!

Bill's brow furrowed deeply, his expression grave.

He should never have agreed to register with Honey at his mother's insistence! That would have avoided all this trouble!

Just as Juliet was about to curse the person who hung up on her, she suddenly remembered that she really had registered the marriage!

It was just this evening! What was that man's name again?

Juliet smacked her forehead and quickly dialed back, intending to explain the situation. But when she tried to call, she found that she had been blocked.

Juliet sighed. What a hot-tempered guy.

She had no choice but to swallow her pride and call back using a landline.

The phone rang for a long time before it was finally answered. The familiar deep voice was even colder this time.

"Speak!" Bill's tone was clearly suppressing his anger.

Juliet hurriedly explained, "I'm sorry, Mr. Bill! I really forgot that I had registered the marriage! And since I'm in a special department, marriage registrations usually require an application to be approved. I don't know why it went through directly when we registered. Could there have been a procedural error? If so, can we apply to have the marriage annulled?"

Juliet was telling the truth.
