Angela scoffed for what felt like the thousandth time in Zayden's mind as they reached her chamber. They stood before her door, he towering behind her like a shadow cast by the flickering gaslight. Angela scoffed again, then turned to face him, her glare igniting like hellfire in her burning blue eyes. She bit her lip and sighed heavily before she opened her door and stepped inside. Just as she was about to shut him out, he thrust his hand against the door, pushing it open wider, causing her to stagger back, her glare still intact, her neck and cheeks flushed crimson.
"You don't get to shut me out, princess," he said, his voice low and intense, his eyes narrowing on her small form as she folded her arms defiantly.
"Then stop acting like you need to be shut out. What are you even? A candle that flickers on and off?" she retorted, anger at his indifference surging within her.
