Chapter 103 - Chapter 103: What did I, Matou Kariya, do wrong?!

In the days leading up to the commencement of the Holy Grail War in the Fate/Zero World, the Tohsaka family savored their final moments of tranquility.

In the park, little Rin and Sakura frolicked joyfully, while Tohsaka Aoi and Adult Rin sat quietly on a nearby bench, observing the two young girls.

"Everything will be alright. They'll be able to live happily ever after, but..." Rin's expression darkened momentarily. "But, I can't help but worry about what lies ahead for my world."

Seeing her daughter's concern, Aoi offered a reassuring smile. She gently brushed Rin's disheveled twin ponytails before speaking, "Don't fret. If your world proves too difficult to change, you can always stay here. I wouldn't mind having such a beautiful, lovely, and perfect daughter like you."

Rin couldn't help but smile at her mother's comforting words. During this time, her father diligently tutored Rin in gem magic, while Aoi faithfully fulfilled her roles as a devoted wife and mother. These experiences allowed Rin to finally experience the warmth of a family, deepening her affection for them. However, she knew that the Holy Grail War loomed on the horizon. If they weren't careful, this idyllic family could be shattered like a fragile bubble.

Determined, Rin clenched her fist silently. "No matter what, I won't allow anyone to destroy this beauty, even if it means risking everything."

But their moment of reflection was interrupted by the arrival of a familiar figure.

"Aoi... long time no see."

At the sound of the voice, the four members of the Tohsaka family turned to see Kariya Matou approaching. Aoi's gaze was complex as she recognized the man who will caused her so much anguish.

Over time, the Tohsaka family had learned of Kariya's tragic story through Fate/Zero, leading Aoi to develop conflicted feelings towards him. Though she acknowledged his deep-seated obsession with her, she also understood the sacrifices he had made for Sakura. Thus, her greeting was polite but distant.

"Long time no see, Kariya."

Kariya, hoping to bridge the gap that had formed between them, offered gifts to little Rin and little Sakura – a purple headband and a red bracelet. However, the girls, aware of Kariya's future deeds, hesitated to accept his offerings.

Their refusal left Kariya feeling even more lost. And as he turned his attention to Adult Rin, he couldn't shake the feeling of familiarity she evoked.

"Who is this beautiful lady?" Kariya inquired suspiciously.

Rin, choosing not to disclose her identity as a time traveler, simply replied, "I'm from the Tohsaka family, Sakura's big sister."

Kariya's gaze narrowed as he observed Rin's resemblance to Aoi and Tokiomi. His disdain for Tokiomi was palpable, fueled by memories of their past interactions.

Similarly, Rin harbored a deep-seated resentment towards Kariya for the pain he had caused her family. Witnessing her mother's descent into madness had left an indelible mark on her, heightening her animosity towards Kariya. However, she acknowledged the sacrifices he had made for her sister Sakura, preventing her from acting on her impulses.

Realizing that their encounter had reached an impasse, Rin took her leave with Aoi and the girls. Aoi, attempting to offer a word of caution, urged Kariya to leave Fuyuki City before the Holy Grail War commenced.

But her well-intentioned advice only served to further incense Kariya, who interpreted her words as a final rejection.

Clutching the unopened gifts in his hand, Kariya watched as the Tohsaka family disappeared from view. Anguish and resentment gnawed at him, and in that moment, he vowed vengeance against Tokiomi, convinced that he was the root of all his suffering.

As the sun began to set, Kariya's fingers tightened around the gift box, his resolve hardened.

"Tohsaka Tokiomi... You won't escape my wrath!"

In his mind, Tokiomi was to blame for everything, and Kariya was determined to make him pay for his perceived transgressions.

And so, poor Tohsaka Tokiomi found himself unjustly blamed once again.
