Chapter 23 - Chapter 23 Conflict

Following the intense and pungent scent of blood, Wenwen found his way to an abandoned factory. Wilson should be inside.

However, Wenwen didn't rush in immediately. Wilson was dangerous, and a confrontation could be imminent. He needed to prepare in advance.

Wilson's weapon was likely a pair of sharp, metallic wings. Since Wenwen hadn't seen them in action, he couldn't devise an effective strategy.

The wings could easily slice through steel nails, so wearing a bulletproof vest would be useless—it might even hinder movement. Therefore, he couldn't afford to take a direct hit from those wings. The key would be to choose an open area to allow for dodging.

It was a pity there wasn't more time to prepare. Otherwise, using a tranquilizer gun to knock Wilson out would have been a good option.

Inside the factory, Wenwen detected the scent of two people. He couldn't determine whether the second person was Wilson's accomplice or an ordinary individual, so he decided to wait until they separated before making a move on Wilson.

After waiting outside for a while, Wenwen saw a figure in a coat emerge from the factory.

"I'm going to get some medical supplies. Your injuries need treatment. Don't leave until I return," the person said before leaving, with Wilson presumably still inside.

Now was the perfect opportunity for Wenwen to confront Wilson!

"Mr. Wilson, I've finally found you."

Pushing open the iron door of the warehouse, Wenwen walked in confidently, spotting Wilson sitting deep inside on a broken wooden crate, holding a bottle of beer, occasionally taking a sip.

Seeing Wenwen enter, Wilson's face showed surprise. He hadn't expected to see Wenwen here and shook his head, saying, "Detective Wen, Melissa must have sent you. I told her to do nothing, yet she still asked you to find me. What a meddlesome woman."

"You caused significant damage before you left. It's natural for your wife to be concerned," Wenwen said as he approached Wilson, speaking in a casual tone.

"Now that you've found me and seen that I'm fine, you can go back and tell her to stop looking for me. I'll return when I'm ready," Wilson said, taking another swig of beer.

"No, I need you to come back with me now," Wenwen refused Wilson's request. By now, his goal was no longer just the money Melissa had offered.

Wilson put down the beer bottle and looked deeply at Wenwen. "Detective, this is beyond your job description, isn't it?"

"Who knows... During my search, I visited that underground clinic and the underpass. I saw things I shouldn't have, so I can't let you roam freely," Wenwen said with a cold smile, noticing that Wilson's wings were still calm and his expression was not troubled. This suggested that the previous slaughter wasn't necessarily initiated by the wings.

At the very least, Wilson didn't seem to regret the killings.

"What? Are you going to take me back to the police or seek justice for those scum?" Wilson stood up, and the metallic wings behind him began to writhe and slowly unfold. Wenwen's nerves tensed.

"Those people in the underpass may have deserved it, but the doctor at the underground clinic certainly didn't. However, I'm no crusader for justice. I'm here to capture you because it's my job," Wenwen said, pointing a revolver at Wilson with his right hand while holding a knife in a reverse grip with his left.

Seeing the gun, fear flashed in Wilson's eyes. He knew his metallic wings were powerful, but his body was still flesh and blood.

"My task is to find you, not to kill. So, I hope you'll come with me quietly."

Seeing Wilson's fearful expression, Wenwen breathed a sigh of relief. Fear meant he wasn't as strong as he appeared.

However, just because Wilson was scared didn't mean the steel wings were.

The left wing unfurled, forming a shiny blade-chain over ten meters long. It shot towards Wenwen like a venomous snake!

Faced with the sudden attack, Wenwen's pupils shrank. He quickly positioned the knife in front of his chest and retreated several meters in an instant.

Clang...

The knife was cleanly severed, falling to the ground with a crisp sound.

At the same time, a small wound appeared on Wenwen's chest, and blood began to ooze, making his chest feel slick. But it soon healed. If he hadn't retreated in time, the wing would have pierced through him!

Being pierced wouldn't kill Wenwen, but if he suffered such a severe injury, he would be at Wilson's mercy.

This man wasn't easy to deal with!

The blade-chain retracted, transforming back into a pair of magnificent wings that gently flapped behind Wilson.

"Detective Wen, I didn't expect you weren't just an ordinary person," Wilson said, eyeing Wenwen with apprehension.

But Wenwen didn't respond. Instead, he fired a shot at Wilson.

The right wing swiftly extended, covering Wilson entirely. The bullet hit the wing, causing it to shudder slightly, but it was deflected.

The bullet had no effect!

"This is totally unfair! But... it's not impossible to deal with!" Wenwen smirked, a hint of excitement in his voice as he realized the fight was about to become intense.

In a breath, the left wing transformed into the long blade-chain again, sweeping towards Wenwen at high speed. It was like a massive blade over ten meters long, slicing everything in its path in half.

This forced Wenwen to keep moving; he had to dodge constantly to avoid being sliced apart. If it weren't for the speed and reflexes granted by his vampire physiology, Wilson would have already cut him to pieces.

While dodging, Wenwen continued firing at Wilson. Ordinary bullets couldn't harm Wilson, but they could distract the right wing, preventing it from joining the attack.

With only one wing attacking, Wenwen could manage. After dodging for a while, Wenwen grew more familiar with the wing's movements, analyzing it and searching for an opportunity to win.

"The left wing's attack range is about fifteen meters, and it's fast. It can reach everywhere in this factory...

The right wing provides comprehensive defense, with almost no blind spots. Since it can slightly deform, it could also extend like the left wing to launch a long-range attack.

But although the wings are sharp, their power isn't overwhelming. The left wing needs to retract after every three attacks...

And the biggest weakness... is Wilson himself!"

Having formulated a plan, Wenwen narrowed his eyes and fired a shot aimed at Wilson's heart. It was the last bullet in Wenwen's magazine and also...

A demon-hunting bullet!
