The two members of the secret organization split up and ran in different directions, forcing the Hunter Association members to do the same. They couldn't afford to let either one escape.
The mysterious woman in the cloak and Uncle Gong went after Mr. L, while Lin Zheyuan and Lin Lu chased after Grandi.
Even though both members were fleeing, their methods differed. Mr. L was incredibly fast, much quicker than Wen Wen, and within moments, he had outpaced Uncle Gong. The other assistants couldn't effectively intercept him, and only the cloaked woman remained close on his heels.
Grandi, on the other hand, wasn't running particularly fast, but his bizarre abilities slowed down his pursuers, making it difficult for Lin Zheyuan and Lin Lu to catch up. However, his slower pace meant it took him longer to break through the surrounding assistants, which left him vulnerable to their firepower. The relentless pursuit by Lin Zheyuan and Lin Lu also prevented him from focusing on hindering the assistants.
...
Wilson sat in the hallway, a storm of emotions brewing within him.
His fight with Wen Wen had made him realize how weak he was, and Grandi's attitude afterward made it clear that he wasn't particularly valued by Mr. L either.
"Why did I get so worked up and kill someone back then? But once you've killed, there's no turning back. The only path left is to follow him all the way to the end. There's nowhere else for me to go."
Wilson was wallowing in self-pity when a sudden explosion rocked the building. His ears buzzed from the shockwave, and the wooden door of the hotel was blasted off its hinges. Flames spread through the doorway, and the intense heat made Wilson cover his face.
He quickly ran to the door and peeked inside, only to see Mr. L and Grandi splitting up and fleeing, leaving him behind!
Wilson panicked and hurried to the end of the hallway, opening a window to try and climb down.
In a way, he felt fortunate that the attackers' attention was focused on Grandi and Mr. L, leaving him unnoticed. What he didn't know was that assistants had already stationed themselves at every vantage point and key exit. It wasn't that they hadn't noticed him; they just hadn't acted because Lin Zheyuan had instructed them to leave Wilson for Wen Wen to handle.
At that moment, Wen Wen was standing on the rooftop, watching as Wilson climbed down the drainpipe!
"Hmm, round two, here we go!"
Wen Wen leaped down, stomping on Wilson as he reached the second floor, causing him to fall to the ground. If not for his steel wings digging into the ground to cushion his fall, Wilson might have been knocked out again.
With a graceful flip, Wen Wen landed steadily, pointing his gun at Wilson.
"Wait, don't shoot! I surrender!" Wilson raised his hands, and his wings followed suit.
"It was all that man's doing; I had nothing to do with it. I can't even control these wings. Please, don't hurt me."
Wilson spoke rapidly, hoping to convince Wen Wen to spare him.
"Surrender… Tsk tsk, well then, put on these gloves first." Wen Wen smiled, pulling out a pair of handcuffs and approaching Wilson as if he were completely unguarded.
Seeing Wen Wen close enough, a vicious glint flashed in Wilson's eyes. He wasn't the type to leave his fate in someone else's hands, especially now that there was only Wen Wen around. If he could kill him, he could make a clean getaway.
"At this distance, he shouldn't be able to dodge!"
The steel wings transformed into chainsaws and slashed towards Wen Wen!
But instead of shock, Wilson saw a smile playing on Wen Wen's lips.
Of course, Wen Wen didn't believe Wilson's surrender. He knew full well that after taking a life, a person's mindset would undergo subtle changes, and under these circumstances, it was unrealistic to expect Wilson to surrender.
Besides, the last thing Wen Wen wanted was for Wilson to surrender!
Facing the sudden attack, Wen Wen remained calm. Black matter emerged, forming the Catastrophe Gloves, which grabbed hold of the attacking wings!
The longer the weapon, the easier it was to predict its trajectory and seize it at close range!
After the last battle, Wen Wen was well aware that the razor-sharp wings couldn't damage the Catastrophe Gloves. This time, Wen Wen intended to make full use of this advantage!
With a firm grip on the wings, Wen Wen spread his legs, using all his strength to swing Wilson around, flinging him into another room in the hotel. Wen Wen then immediately followed him in.
What he planned to do next wasn't something he wanted the assistants to see, so he needed to change the battleground!
Wilson, who had fallen into the room, was dizzy from the impact. He was about to beg for mercy when a foot pressed down on his back, knocking him out cold.
Wen Wen then grabbed hold of the elongated steel wings, firing several shots into the other wing, rendering it immobile. With that, Wen Wen had completely subdued both wings!
The fight was simple—Wilson, who had managed to slightly injure Wen Wen in their last encounter, was utterly powerless this time!
Although Wen Wen was new to being a superhuman, Wilson was merely an ordinary man wielding extraordinary power, not even a true superhuman.
Once Wen Wen understood the steel wings' abilities, Wilson became nothing more than a child flailing a weapon wildly in Wen Wen's eyes!
The steel wings were agile and sharp but lacked strength. Once Wen Wen got close, he easily overpowered Wilson.
"Now to figure out how to remove these wings from his back. I've gone through all this trouble just to lock these wings up in a cell..."
Wen Wen didn't care if imprisoning the wings sounded absurd. What mattered to him now was gaining more power.
He planted his foot on Wilson's body, trying to yank the wings off, but they were tightly attached, and brute force alone wasn't enough.
However, during the struggle, Wen Wen noticed that the wings were merely attached to Wilson's skin and hadn't penetrated his body...
So...
Wen Wen pulled out a small knife, intending to cut away the skin where Wilson and the steel wings were connected!
To be honest, it felt a bit twisted, but obtaining a superpowered item was worth it.
As he was halfway through the cut, the steel wings stopped resisting and automatically detached from Wilson, saving Wen Wen a lot of effort.
Afterward, Wen Wen pressed his hand against the bloody wound, releasing a cold air to freeze the wound and prevent Wilson from bleeding out.
Whether this would have any negative consequences for Wilson wasn't Wen Wen's concern.
