Chapter 1 - Chapter 1.

These were the last days of my quiet life. One day, sipping tea in the kitchen, I indifferently scrolled through the news on my phone, which announced the imminent end. Terrible things were happening on Earth, people were dying every day. "A terrible new virus is taking human lives at an alarming rate" - reading such headlines, I thought it was absurd. But one quiet day, after returning from work, I made coffee and sat down to read the news again. This time, all social networks were flooded with information about this virus, which actually turned out to be large parasites that secrete a strong infection into the blood, for which there is no cure. Photos and videos of the torment in hospitals were published: people were expectorating blood, their skin was covered with many small holes and decomposed, and over time they died terribly. The official news warned that the virus would soon reach us. This time I took it seriously, I was overcome with fear.

After collecting all the cards and cash, I rushed to the nearest store, trying to buy everything I needed, first of all canned food, crackers and products that are stored for a long time. Despite trying not to take it seriously, some part of my soul told me that it would all end badly. I tried to think positively: the authorities will cope with the problem, soon everything will fall into place. But then why are people dying so massively?

When I returned to my small old apartment, I had no idea that this was my last quiet day. The dog was lying on the floor and looking out the window. Did she feel it? She seemed to know and understand more than we did. Sometimes she barked and hid under the table. I didn't understand her behavior and just calmed the animal down. In the end, she fell asleep next to her friend, right on the floor.
