Chapter 5 - Chapter 5.

We went outside with two large bags. Valera, my friend, came to his car and opened the doors, inviting me inside. After putting our things in the trunk, he started the engine, and we set off.

I didn't expect my life to change so much. I had to give up all amenities, including telephone, Internet and even a shower. Clean water has become inaccessible. I didn't wash for several weeks and used only wet wipes, which caused itching on my scalp. The smell of sweat and an unpleasant aroma was quickly felt in the cabin, but Valera did not show it, so as not to embarrass me.

He was driving the car, and I was looking out the window. Driving through a field, in a thick fog, I noticed a strange creature with a long neck and a small head, a massive body. When I told my friend about this, he did not immediately believe it, only when he looked sideways.

— What the hell! He exclaimed, dramatically increasing his speed.

There was a small village ahead, with a forest and a lake next to it. We got out of the car, took our things with us and left the car at the entrance to the village.

Unfortunately, nothing useful was found in the houses, except spoiled food in non-working refrigerators. At the last moment, we came across a walkie-talkie, but it did not pick up the signal.

— Vitya, take it, — said the friend. — Maybe it will come in handy!

I put the walkie-talkie in my backpack, and we decided to spend the night in one of the cabins.

It was more like a village consisting of several buildings stuck in the past. Having found the most comfortable place, we went to bed. Tomorrow we had a long way to visit Valera's relatives.

We lit a fireplace in a cold hut and lay down on the bed. It was hard for me to sleep. The situation was depressing: I didn't have a chance to take a shower, even a cold one. The skin became oily, the hair became unkempt. My beard had grown carefully, and my stomach was rumbling with hunger. In order not to wake my friend, I carefully got up from the stove and took a snack out of my backpack. Gradually, my stomach calmed down, and I managed to fall asleep.
